PoundingDog Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I think Bosa's snap count is way too high; and I thought Rousseau should be the guy leading DE snap counts, maybe he's dealing with something. Walker only got 19 snaps but I expect the number to increase. Hope the upcoming Saints game, we kind of semi-sit Bosa, maybe just use him on 3rd downs. 2 1 Quote
YattaOkasan Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Heard Rousseau had a bone bruise on his knee. Hoping Landon Jackson gets a jersey going forward. Him plus hoecht should ease bosas load 3 1 Quote
BillsFan130 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 1. Ya Bosas snap count was way too high IMO 2. Ya Rousseau is dealing with an apparent bone bruise in his leg/knee 3. Deone walkers snap count was low as apparently he was out of alignment on the first couple drives, so it looks like they sat him for a bit 2 1 Quote
EmotionallyUnstable Posted September 23 Posted September 23 He’s at around 70% of total snaps through 3 games. That’s on par with what Groot played all of last year. I think this is probably where they want to operate. Solomon is not a valid option to play that many snaps IMO so I imagine with Hoecht returning in a couple weeks it’ll taper off a bit. 1 Quote
JerseyBills Posted September 23 Posted September 23 When we get Hoecht and Big Ed back, this DL could be really good 2 Quote
MJS Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I'd like Jackson to get a jersey instead of Solomon these next few weeks. Let's see what he can do with those snaps. 4 1 Quote

I'm not sure 70% is what they had in mind for Bosa in regular season. I can see that number in the playoffs. To me, you want to keep his snap count to be around 50% or below in regular season, or in absolute terms, about 30 snaps a game. Watch his brother who was getting 50+ snap counts until his injury. Solomon is something worth watching the next 3 games. He's a run liability out there. When the PED guys are back, they probably need to ship out someone from DL group. Solomon is high on that list. 2 Quote

Through 3 games, that’s his average. It’s slightly lower than what Groot played last season. Bosa historically has played ever more snaps on average, upwards of 90% at times…so even the 70% is a decrease than his career average IIRC. It’s been awhile since the Bills have had a healthy, viable option opposite Groot, so imo it explains why we’re surprised by the high number. I think we’ve become accustomed to seeing the the DE rotation with the likes of Smoot and Epinessa splitting snaps. Before his injury in 2022, Von was regularly playing 70% of snaps. It’ll be interesting to see how that might change with Hoecht returning in a couple weeks 13 minutes ago, MJS said: I'd like Jackson to get a jersey instead of Solomon these next few weeks. He is covering kickoffs and punts, and Landon Jackson will not do that. So if this were to happen, they’ll either need to dress 5 DEs or someone else will be absorbing ST snaps and idk who that’d be Edited September 23 by EmotionallyUnstable 3 Quote

Regardless, McDermott mentioned that Jackson was close to earning a gameday jersey this week, so they had something in mind to make that possible. 2 Quote
Allen2Moulds Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The fact that Solomon is active over Jackson, and barely getting snaps, tells you how far Landon is. Unfortunately. We need Hoect back, and hopefully that'll bring Bosa's snap count down. I would also love to see Mad Max to replace Tre, and Hancock to replace Rapp. We desperately need a speed upgrade in our secondary. Those 2 guys are killing us right now. 1 1 1 Quote

So if this were to happen, they’ll either need to dress 5 DEs or someone else will be absorbing ST snaps and idk who that’d be The reason why not is that you're right that he's historically played a lot of snaps, but also historically he's been injured a lot. There's a good chance that there is a relationship between those two facts. They want to limit his snaps this year. And it's a great idea. But with Hoecht out for the first six weeks, Groot playing with a bone bruise (according to Joe B. in the Athletic), Landon Jackson not yet getting it so that he's not active and Solomon being a liability on run plays, that pretty much leaves Epenesa and Bosa as the only two DEs who are healthy, available and up to speed on any given play. Expect Bosa to see a lot less action later in the season, so that he's fully healthy going into the playoffs. Edited September 23 by Thurman#1 1 Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted September 23 Posted September 23 I believe McDermott is breaking them in. The concentration was on the D Line. It’s like a horse race. Sprint to the first turn for positioning. Keep near the pace on the backstretch, and make your big move as soon as your horse answers the call. All out to the finish line. Bills had this three week mini season scripted. The next chunk of the season culminates with the full bye week. Then a preseason game against Carolina, then Chiefs.. ending with the Thursday nighter Nov 20th against the Texans, a team that for whatever reason sorta has our number it feels like. Nice mini bye, and it’s Mack daddy go time with Steelers, Bengals, Pats. Eagles. Two byes because you’re resting starters week 18 and the wild card round. And you’re playing with your hair on fire for the last two games ever at Rich Stadium. Well maybe not McDermott. The hair. 2 1 Quote
