Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?

They just like to play conservative for some reason......in the 4th quarter, they were running plays as if they had a 17 point lead when the lead was only 7.

When needed the passing game has been quite effective - in the 4th quarter to beat the Ravens and tonight when we converted that 3rd & 5 to basically seal the win.

 

As others are saying this is an intentional effort by the Bills to not become over reliant on an explosive passing game that thrives in September but can disappear in November/December.

You do know Miami let up 30+ plus points against Daniel jones and Drake Maye , and that the bills got 28 points with the last 7 being off a roughing the punter call, right?

 

You do know the Bills scored 31 and missed a FG - with no effort to rush plays or put passes into harms way.

ultimately this is not a regular season thread. I suspect we all agree we are a 13-14 win team potentially 

 

but in February against the eagles down in the second half with the pass rush coming so we can’t get to our 4th read…. Do we have a matchup where we can count on a first read win downfield on 3rd and 8? 
 

or is it Josh getting in the sandlot and just hoping?

When it bogs down that much, I do have to think Josh is leaving some plays out there. The All-22 will tell the truth.

Dolphins defense turned it around after halftime against NE also and everyone else failed them.  Pats scored 10 points in the 4th quarter with -3 yards of offense lol. They gave up a kickoff return td and tua threw an INT and the pats went 3 yds and kicked a fg 

 

I think weaver is a pretty good DC tbh.  He quietly did a good job last year and week 1 their offense didn’t do sh*t so they were on the field a ton

If you are a deep shot team who also has elite YAC you are the best offense of the decade.

 

its almost impossible to have both.  You need a top end QB plus two elite receivers.  However, then you get Cincy, who have no money for an oline and their QB gets hurt every year

The half assing the regular season is their latest effort to learn from the chiefs who perfected that two years ago. I’d rather this then enter January on empty like in years past. 

I mean, if that roughing the kicker is called as running into the kicker, they probably would've lost that game. You can't play possum if it puts your ability to win the game at risk.

3 straight punts in the 2nd half just isn't good enough with a Josh Allen led offence

We all know that the past has not worked out the way we wished.

This is a new year and I'm not going to go thru the whole season lamenting about the past.

IF January ends up the same, the I'll address it.

I believe this could be a special year.

As an aside Allen was masterful tonight.  22 of 28 for 213 yards and 3 TDs and a QB rating of 134.  There is no problem with the passing attack or the offense in general.  They are remarkably balanced and it will be tough for any D to hold them to less then 30 points.  The problem remains what it was last season - the inability of the defense to get off the field at critical moments of the game and the continual giving up 1st downs on 3rd and long.

The Bills have a very clear style.  Don’t turn the ball over, control possessions, double dip at the half if you can, and only open up when you absolutely need to.

 

 you are concerned about a potential scenario of them being down and needing to reel off big plays less than three weeks from a 15 point comeback and victory in 4 minutes .

 

the team CAN come back, but their built to not put themselves in that position

we have Josh. The expectation should be best offense of the decade if we reasonably support him. That doesn’t need to be $50m+ for WR1/WR2 for us to have options that can run

That’s an unrealistic expectation.

 

and by the way, the bills have been the highest scoring offense of the decade so far.  But what you are asking is for even more on top of already being the best?

And yet it felt like quite an average performance from him. Just another game. Which says it all, really.
