notpolian Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I doubt it gives the Raiders any practical advantage right now. I just think he ought to quit being a broadcaster so he can focus on the Raiders, and spare us from having to listen to him. He's not very good, and the guy he replaced (Olsen) is really good. 1 Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Who didn’t think of this as soon as his two jobs collided? I know I did. It hasn’t been clickbait yet because a lot of people don’t know that he has either job. It’s the NFL that should have made Brady pick one or the other, but not both. Total BS if you ask me. And tge awareness is happening now, why? Because the Chiefs are 0-2? Or because he replayed and pointed out the cheating Eagles tush push? Quote

I’m not sure he has any influence over the Raiders, nor gets any snipits of info on rivals. I do understand people still hate Brady as he kicked our tails for 20 years. I don’t like nor dislike the guy. He’s annoying with his “oh shucks” attitude. That is beat the heck out of us has extremely to do with the pedestal Goodell and the NFL have placed him on. I dislike Brady deeply, but it's Goodell who's nothing but a spineless ball washer (owners). Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted September 17 Posted September 17 2 hours ago, ryguy101 said: Tom Brady's Role as a broadcaster and as a partial owner for the Las Vegas Raiders is threatening competitive balance. 1. One day after the Eagles Chiefs rematch Brady was in the Raiders coaching booth (Eagles and Chiefs will play this season) 2. 6 days before broadcasting Cowboys vs Bears - Brady was listening in the in-game communication of the Raiders (Raiders will play Cowboys and bears) So... Brady will broadcast games of 6 of the Raiders opponents this season Is this fair? Eric Shanks (Fox Sports CEO) declined to comment if that is a conflict of interest when asked. The NFL issued a statement. “There are no policies that prohibit an owner from sitting in the coaches’ booth or wearing a headset during a game,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement to Yahoo Sports and others. "Brady was sitting in the booth in his capacity as a limited partner. All personnel sitting in the booth must abide by policies that prohibit the use of electronic devices other than league-issued equipment such as a Microsoft Surface Tablet for the Sideline Viewing System.” A yahoo article writes, "League broadcast partners routinely hold production meetings with the teams whose games they’re about to call. Facility visits include practice viewing and meeting with coaches and players. Oftentimes, staffs try to be more honest with the broadcast team than they would at a podium in order to ensure the success of a media rights deal worth $111 billion over 11 years. The NFL created some guardrails last season when Brady was approved as a limited owner of the Raiders months after his Fox gig began. The NFL barred Brady from participating in meetings and team visits last year. This year, the league loosened restrictions to allow Brady virtual access." So now this could lead the NFL to discuss this in future forums with the next one being in late October. What do we think? This is a giant nothing burger if you ask me. Just my 2 cents 1 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 17 Posted September 17 As much as I despised Brady as a player, I have lost all my hate for him, and actually now really like the guy. i see no issue with this, and Florio is getting really annoying about it. I wish florio had this same passion during spygate and deflategate. 1 Quote
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I think he's a genius and bought his way out of work. Spend money for minority ownership in a product that is guaranteed to increase in value. Get out of having to go to practices so I he can do it virtually - aka he's sitting on his ass at home not watching. Can probably also use the owner excuse to get out of meetings he doesn't wanna go to. It's brilliant! If he was better at his job he'd sound more prepared, and he sounds like he read a 1-pager during every game. 1 Quote
T.E. Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I hated Brady so much during his playing days that I don't have anything left in the tank for him anymore. 2 Quote

Billsatlastin2018 Posted September 18 Posted September 18 “It's an obvious conflict of interest to be an owner of a team and a broadcaster with access to other NFL teams.” THIS, ^^^^ No need to beat a dead horse. Only those unfamiliar with COI AND corporate HR codes prohibiting same, can’t comprehend this fact! This is an obvious black eye for the NFL. Brady cannot be allowed to broadcast or have differentiated access via FOX Sports to ANY Raider opponents. A decision needs to be made, as multiple sources have raised the COI. Quote

He isn't a majority owner so I doubt he's brings anything to the Raiders outside of money. It's like McGrady and Carter here in Buffalo. Sure they are owners but really don't have any control over anything. I honestly don't see the Raiders having any competitive advantage with Brady being an owner/broadcaster so am okay with him continually doing it until something proves he doing something against league policy.
