Shes finally discharged last night and returned to school, she’s having a hard time and still has to go to 12 hours/ week of outpatient but i have faith there is a light at the end of the tunnel and believe in her spirit. She is able to smile for the nurses and doctors and her teachers at school to get through those interactions but at home she’s so sick and trying to consume this meal plan for restoration that just makes her so uncomfortable. Thank you all for the words of support and encouragement.

Will do.

for what it’s worth, I had a former co-worker who had the same issue with his teenage  daughter (really really bad), and she was able to bounce back with some good counseling, and has been doing great for years.

talking to trained therapists/counselors is something I can not recommend enough. The hospital should be able to easily identify those that specialize in youth eating disorders.

Happy to hear things are improving. Support from her family, friends and loved ones will help make all the difference. Hang in there, it’s a marathon with lots of ups and downs.

It can be helpful for you and your partner to talk with a therapist as well. This is a ton for any family to process and it’s an issue thats not fully within your control.

@YoloinOhio This is the first I am seeing this. I cannot imagine what you, your daughter and your family have had to go through.

I'm glad to hear that she is out of the hospital and is making progress.

I will offer up my prayers out to all of you.

May God Bless all of you.

Continuing with prayers Yolo. I have a young woman who is a friend of my daughter and was a neighbor while my girls were growing up. She has struggled mightily with an eating disorder, and there have been so many ups and downs.  Trying to stay level through it all is exhausting and my heart goes out to you and your family.

Please pray for my daughter. She is 16 and has an evil eating disorder that has turned our lives upside down. I use the football side of this board as a distraction but on this other side of the board I am hoping that prayer helps. I believe in the power of that. She’s a beautiful, brilliant, amazing  girl who is facing a really hard battle. She’s in the ER right now and they may admit her due to her super low heart rate. Oh and eff cheerleading!!!

I'm so sorry your daughter and your family are going through this.  People don't realize what a serious disease eating disorders are.

Best of wishes for getting her good treatment and keeping her in it.

Oh, yeah, and eff off cheerleading, gymnastics, modeling, and anything else that gets girls to focus on being skeletally thin.

@YoloinOhio is she continuing to do better? Thinking about her and your family.

I think she has made some progress physically, she’s up 3 lbs to 110. Her brain just needs to catch up and bring back the girl we know and love. They have her on a 3000 cal/diet plan and it’s exhausting at all levels with the 6 super specific meals per day. I’m trying to trust the process and am inspired by stories of Friends and family who have overcome

Eating disorders are horrible. It is great she is getting the care and support she needs and deserves. Keep fighting beside her!

They really are horrible and I had no idea the extent to which it impacts the brain until going through this. I’m now an expert in something I never wanted to be. I think she’s headed in a positive direction. Not cleared for activity yet but she got vitals done yesterday and wasn’t sent to the hospital this time so a good day even though she lost weight after restoring 3 lb the week before. She literally hates eating. She used to love going to restaurants, trying new foods, etc and now she’s never hungry and nothing sounds good. Trying to pack in 3000 cal per day to a kid who would rather do anything but eat and thinks we are poisoning her if it’s not “clean” and even then she’s trying to scrutinize what it is in everything and whether it’s “healthy”. I have a case of Ensure on hand. BUT I see signs of restoration. Thank you all for listening and for any prayers, words of encouragement, just everything.

Is there any drug they could give her to stimulate the appetite?  Or don't they want to compound the situation with meds?

My best to your family.  I hope and pray that she recovers fully.

She is fortunate to have family that loves and supports her.  That kind of support will go along way to helping her get better.

Write to the Bills and see if they will send her good wishes to her recovery.  My guess is they will.  That should brighten her day.
