NewEra Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) Based on the opponent, I’d prefer Strong start this week vs the Jets. He’s a better tackler and I expect the Jets to focus on the run, screens and short pass game vs our D. I also think strong would be more effective getting Fields down on his scrambles. The Jets WRs look to be Wilson, Tyler Johnson (who I like more than most) and Lazard. Stick Benford on Wilson and I don’t think those guys would be able to take consistent advantage of Strong in the pass game. On top of that, after missing 3 weeks of practice, I don’t think 3 days of limited practice is enough to get Tre back right. That said- I believe McD will start Tre if he dresses Edited September 13 by NewEra 3 3 1 Quote
Dave_Bills Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Keep it rolling with Strong and continue to have him develop. Tre is just a stop gap 7 6 Quote
finn Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Strong's TD-saving tackle of Henry in the fourth-quarter made me a fan. He's giving up 60 pounds on Henry, who had a full head of steam, and he took him out. I like White, but I see him bouncing off a big RB in that situation. 1 Quote
quincy Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I believe that Strong would be the better option in week 3 facing Hill and Waddle, can't see the benefit of him not starting this week after playing well as a week one rookie. 1 Quote
Robert Paulson Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Start strong. Give Tre a series or 2 in the second half. Next game is Thursday so pacing is needed. 3 2 Quote
AlBUNDY4TDS Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Start strong. Wouldn't be the first time a less physically gifted late round corner contributed to our defense. If he falters, we have tre if needed. 2 Quote
skibum Posted September 13 Posted September 13 If they are both available on game day, I’m feeling pretty good no matter what. 1 Quote
strive_for_five_guy Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Tre. If both healthy, I want the guy w experience that’s proven he can perform at a high level in the NFL. 2 Quote

He waited until Henry started to extend for the stiff arm and then batted it away to secure the tackle. Heady play 2 1 1 Quote
FireChans Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Strong is the future and White is the past. If it’s close, I give it to the rook and let him continue to grow this season. 4 1 Quote
JP51 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 assuming Tre is healed... Tre... if he is not Strong... Quote
chris heff Posted September 13 Posted September 13 If Tre is 100% I’d go with him. I don’t think the Bills, in particular Josh, are going to let the Jets dictate the game. The Bills offense is going to score and force the Jets to pass. I’d rather Tre in that situation. I’m sorry, I just read the title. Start Strong, shutdown the run, get a lead, force them to pass, bring in White. 2 Quote

BlueRed Posted September 13 Posted September 13 If Strong turns into the next 6th round gem, does anyone think Hairston could be a fit at nickel? I wouldn’t mind seeing Taron shift into one of the Safety roles - maybe not mid-season, but next year or so. Quote
Bob in STL Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) I would play Strong until he gives a reason not too. He did ok and as previously stated is a better tackler than Tre. Tre was expected to be backup depth to Hairston. Edited September 13 by Bob in STL 1 Quote
blacklabel Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Maybe they play both guys with Tre getting some limited snaps? But I'm not sure if they'd make Strong inactive if Tre can go. I don't think so, Strong is a special teams guy isn't he? Bummer man, I am not up to date on mah Bills secondary. Quote
Maine-iac Posted September 13 Posted September 13 I think we will, at some point, be very glad Tre White is on the roster. That said if either of our rookies seem worthy of starting at outside CB I'd rather see them get the playing time and experience. 1 Quote
