Another Fan Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I mean there’s the whole New York name thing. But it seems historically only the early 80s and late 90s are the times they were good at the same time. The 81 Playoff game the only post season match up. They haven’t exactly been much a threat during the Josh Allen era. Even in the Super Bowl years the Bills won something like 12 games in a row against them. It was like a huge deal for the Jets when they beat them in 92’ I think to break that streak. The week after the Dennis Byrd incident. Historically the Bills have had more success vs the Jets then Miami and New England 1 1 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It’s funny that you say that because I’ve always felt that way. I was a kid during the early 90’s Bills teams. I consider that era (basically right when they got good), to be the start of my fan hood. In my time, there really hasn’t been a time that I looked at them as a rival. It’s kind of the same for the Pats, until Brady (and that wasn’t really a rivalry it was hate). Miami has been a rival. KC is now a rival (and Baltimore to a lesser degree). I would have considered the Cowboys a rival for a couple of years but the Jets have always just kind of been there. 1 Quote
T.E. Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Their fans are, by far, the worst of any team in the division, so there's that. When you meet NYers/people from NJ, you can usually tell who they root for by their personality: Classy, friendly = Giants fan Obnoxious, douchebaggy = Jets fan That stereotype almost never fails. bmur66 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Yes. Division rival that usually plays the Bills tough despite their records. I hate the Jets. 3 Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago During the New York Sack Exchange days (early 1980s) the Jets felt like a bit of a rival. 1 Quote
eball Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago For me, division opponents have always been rivals, regardless of their records. You see them twice a year, every year. The Colts were a rival until realignment. I hate the Fish more than anyone else, but the Pats*** and Jets will always be rivals. Even in the 90s the Jets and Pats*** would give us fits in at least one of the two games. And I’m sure Belichick would agree that even though Brady was killing us he always respected what the Bills brought to those rivalry games — many of which were very tight into the 4th quarter. So yes, the Jets are a rival. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Started playing against each other since 1960. So, this rivalry is 65 years old and counting. Granted it's probably not as intense as it should be as they have only met in the playoffs once. If both teams are ever good at the same time and they start battling for the division or meeting in the playoffs then this rivalry will really heat up. You have the NY-NY thing even though the Jets play in NJ. Bills fans and Jets live in the same state. At some point in NY Bills territory becomes Jets-Giants territory and vice versa depending on if you are heading to Orchard Park or East Rutherford. Quote

I will say of all the other teams in our division, their fans are the most passionate and understand that their team sucks. Pats fans are fake. And Dolphin fans have an inferiority complex. Quote
BillsPride12 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Only when I was in college at UB because of how many obnoxious Long Islanders and Jets fans that went to school there 1 Quote
HOUSE Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Yes, they had a few good teams but most of the players are dead now. 1 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have lived an hour from metlife from my whole life. I hate the jets more than every other team combined. It’s not even close. I literally despise everything about them. Their fans are so clueless and loud and every year it’s the same garbage with them. They are a rival to me. Quote
gjv Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Bills have a winning record with the Jets. They have a losing record against both Miami and New England. However, the Bills can even the record with Miami, combining regular season and playoff games, by sweeping Miami this season. 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago In my 60 years of fandom it’s never felt like a big rivalry to me. Whether either team was good or bad or even mediocre I can’t recall a single season where I’ve thought all that much about those two games. I think of the Jets as our ‘study hall’ in our semester’s class schedule….boring and useless. 1 Quote

corta765 Posted 45 minutes ago Posted 45 minutes ago They are a division foe and annoyance but they are not a rival the way I consider Miami, KC, NE, or heck even the Jags who we have lost two different playoff games to and some truly other weird a$$ games. Their fans are just obnoxious as heck more then anything so seeing them down is enjoyable haha, but there hasn't been a major moment with NY while I have been alive which was cut deep by them. The opening losses in 2002 and 2023 stunk but even those again were bad days not McKelvin level pain part of two decades of pain with NE or the hate that builds with Miami when their going. 2023 with Miami was especially enjoyable because it felt like the old days and winning in their house to take the division was soooo sweet. The arrogance that fanbase and their media had going into that finale made it so satisfying to put them back in their place. At no time have I ever had a feeling remotely close to that with NY. 1 Quote
behind a post WMS69 Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago In the 80s, when Rich stadium was really wild, tickets were still cheap enough that there would always be a large group a Jets fans starting sh!t in the end zone seats, getting the crap kicked out of them. So while the team vs team rivalry may not have been huge, fan vs fan rivalry certainly was. 1 Quote
I'm Spartacus Posted 43 minutes ago Posted 43 minutes ago Back in the 60's, the Jets were a big rival it seemed so to me. But I was a kid then. Quote

Yes, but I will say… the fans have improved as their team has remained stagnant for so long. Only the die hards seem to be left and I respect that. I’m sure the bandwagon obnoxious NJ and Long Island people will all be back if they ever become good again. 2 Quote
