Big Turk Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Orlovsky breaking down the last 2 plays that show Allen's understanding pre-snap of what is going on and what the D is trying to do...also that long pass to Cook was set up by Allen sliding the line over to pick up the blockers and leaving a free rusher coming at him towards the play-side that he looped the ball over to a wide open Cook...Collinsworth I thought needed a moment to himself to settle down after that he was praising Allen changing the protection call so much... Allen is elite pre-snap now, as if he wasn't a big enough problem already, now you simply can't even count on disguising stuff and fooling him. 4 1 14 2 Quote
Koufax Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Two things I noticed on pre-snap stuff yesterday unlike past years: 1) He didn't just alert for a single change, they had revert when he saw something else to un-alert. 2) Gotta get a better call than "Zero" when they are going to Coleman. I know he probably was talking about cover zero, but every zero call was a pass and every one but one I believe he actually targeted Coleman. Probably not accurate at all, but it was fun to hear "Zero" right before he locked on Coleman a few times. I didn't hear any "Five" before going to Palmer or "Eighty-Six" before going to Kincaid. Buffalo Ballin Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago "Omaha! Omaha!" That's considered elite pre snap? I thought it was just...catch the dam ball when they say "hut! or "Hike!" Quote
FireChans Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I actually thought Allen got confused quite a bit presnap in the first half. Some of those checked runs were him getting fooled. He figured it out by the end Quote

hondo in seattle Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Josh makes some great throws and has some great games that make me start thinking he'll be in the GOAT conversation someday. When I calm down and consider this, I think Brady was better in two ways. First, Brady was a master of presnap recognition. You could tell because he'd get the ball out so quickly to the right guy. Second, Brady was devoted to his diet and fitness in a way that I don't think Josh yet equals. And that's why Brady lasted so long. But I think Josh is gaining on him in both areas. 1 Quote
Mister Defense Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Yes, it was Allen's main goal this summer, his main area to improve-- pre snap reads Maybe Tom Brady and Josh have spoken about this, as it is hallmark of Brady's success. He was never fast, never had the best arm, but it was his brain, his commitment to understanding exactly what is going on at all times, no matter the situation, that made him what he is. And Josh is very smart too. If he is committed to this going forward then his greatness will continue to develop. He will clearly keep on doing what Dan O and you are saying, keep getting better and better at this vital aspect of being an NFL quarterback. And I notice that he is being more vocal, more detailed and specific to the players on his team as well. That is a huge part of this--this skill makes the entire offense better, enables all to rise to their potential, as their leader knows so much. 1 Quote
billsfan89 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Last year Josh took that last step up he really needed to take when making pre-snap adjustments and truly controlling the game as a QB. This year he is only refining his game. It's a sight to see... Quote

Then the check into a screen to Kincaid was a poor check too we were outnumbered outside. Second half he seemes to check a bit less and almost think he confused himself first half by spending too much time worrying about what the Ravens were in. 1 Quote

I'm going to guess after having no real reps in the pre-season it took him a bit to get fully acclimated again. 1 1 Quote

Also possible. Also frankly if a couplen of bad play checks are what I have to suffer for Josh Allen being Josh Allen I will take it. 1 Quote

That ending to the first half very Brady/Rogers/Mahomes like, getting to FG range in what, 2 plays? Knowing exactly when and where to throw that last ball. Josh seems like he evolved into what they were mentally. His growth has been fun to watch (thats what she said) 1 Quote
JerseyBills Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Josh looked so locked in pre snap, his command was impeccable and definitely the best I seen from him.. Remarkable Edited 2 hours ago by JerseyBills Quote

The irony is that with Allen, even the impossible seems possible and it's getting to the point where it's almost expected. Like if he DIDN'T come back and win last night after Henry fumbled we would have been scratching our heads...that's the ultimate sign of true greatness that Allen has evolved to. When regardless of the chances and how impossible the odds seem, you still think that he can get it done and nearly expect him to. 1 Quote
