  1. One of my favorites of all time and such a talented player. Contract and production and drama made it the kind of thing that was likely to have to end at some point but it feels a year too soon for me. getting pick #33 next year (when we gave up #22 to get him) and another cost controlled talent into the roster with it helps, but we have to draft smart this year to find ready to contribute players at a position that often has a learning curve. We all want a big splash with a name we know, but remember trading up for Watkins while Odell was there at 12. Pro bowl receivers are available 1-10, 11-20, 21-30 and aren’t always the first guys picked. Not sure if there is anything left in free agency or trade to help.
  2. What a great Bill. Thanks Jordan. Obviously he lost a step and Father Time is undefeated, and salary cap made it obvious, but a tough leadership loss, and I hope he always considers himself a Bill no matter where he finishes his career.
  3. I love him as RB1. Just really excited that when down 3 with 2:42 to go and first and 10 from the KC27 we don't run him right guard for 1 yard. He is sometimes going to get bottled up and needs holes. He is sometimes going to drop passes, so use him accordingly.
  4. I'm not down on Bass, as frustrating as that was. We would have needed to stop Mahomes from getting into field goal range with more than thirteen seconds, and then would have had to win in overtime. I was not interested in a game tying field goal when we were first down from the 27 with 2:42 to go, and realistically would have considered playing that as four down territory. Hard that after playing smart possession football for 57 minutes (and the deep balls coming close but not being useful in our overall efforts) we ran for nothing and took two deep shots to the end zone. I would have loved to see Josh run once in that sequence, and targeted receivers 5-10 yards downfield. Josh threw some great deep balls this game, but they didn't contribute to our offense. Josh was our best runner but with the game on the line we didn't call his number. We completed 26 short to medium passes, but when moving the sticks and the ticks mattered we attempted zero of them. Still proud of this team.
  5. Boy that was a tough game to lose, and there are plenty of individual things and moments we can key on, but I'm proud of how this team battled since 6-6 (and even before), excited for the next opportunity to cheer on Josh, and optimistic for how great a sports moment it will be when the Bills win the Super Bowl. Go Bills!
  6. The late hit on the one he did slide was weak. But no chance anything wrong on the long run. but thanks for sharing because it gave me another opportunity to enjoy watching Minkah stopping playing football while Kinkaid kept playing football. Like on the Shakir play where Minkah stopped playing football while Knox kept playing football.
  7. Sorry, they sold online between my post and the replies. Life won’t let us be there Monday either, but Go Bills! Give us another chance to get Taylor Swift I mean Buffalo Bills tickets next week!!
  8. They are in trouble if they are flying JetBlue like I was...but currently showing more than half the flights tomorrow cancelled already. Would be awesome if they had some extra hassles to deal with between now and kick off...
  9. I like your thinking. Been trying everywhere, but I think we are going to have to root for another opportunity next weekend. Go Bills!
  10. Well, flight from the west coast is cancelled, so I am putting away my coat and mittens and will watch the game in the 70s by the pool. Should be a better view, but I'm so sad to miss the snow game experience in person. If the Bills spread the field they will find better running lanes for Josh and the RBs, but also be able to complete 5-15 yard passes regardless of weather. We are not built to play eight offensive linemen in I formation no matter what the weather, so I hope we can be creative and not just be ourselves like there isn't weather, but also not act like a 1950s Chicago Bears team thinking we have to. We will try again next weekend if there is a game and there is an airport. Go Bills
  11. My flight to take my son to a snow game was just cancelled, with no other way to get in from the west coast in time. We had got some really close seats right behind the Bills bench. Got two seats that I would rather go to a real fan, and not just gobbled up by Ticketmaster Fees. DM if interested.
  12. I agree. Short passing from a spread formation with Josh having the arm to extend that medium (I hope we don't get carried away with the deep shots). Allows more spacing for Cook to get his yards before contact, and for Josh to take off. What I really want to see is better hot route awareness in Blitzes. Josh gets some of his best runs when teams are in coverage, and isn't his best escaping or completing short-medium on blitzes. Without Watt, and with a propensity to blitz anyway, Tomlin will definitely come after us. We get no partial credit for almost hitting the cover zero deep ball, but Diggs and Kinkaid 7-15 over and over will make them pay (or whoever else is open early).
  13. Hold against Johnson..., no mention no replay. NBC is missing a great game...
  14. Tua started his slide where? I don't know if you challenge, but that wasn't a first down...horrible spot
  15. Yes, there are two factors that have to be considered for Best Player Available, and keep it from being an absolute: 1) Weighting "Best" to positional importance. This should be part of defining "Best" a 99 RG is not worth as much as a 97 LT. a 95 RB is not worth as much as a 92 DE. This should be pretty clear, but bears mentioning. 2) Understanding multi-year depth, especially at non-rotational positions. But if the best player available is clearly a QB, your three options are take him (bad idea), take someone not as good a player (what I am suggesting you try NOT to do), or trade down out of the pick. 3) Don't pretend your rankings are absolute and precise. Definitely try to rank Trevor Lawrence higher than Zach Wilson, and probably try to rank Micah Parsons higher than Jaycee Horn, but it is okay if you rank Ja'Marr Chase, (5) Patrick Surtain (9) and Micah Parsons (12) the same, and use other factors to decide who you pick. But if you pick Caleb Farley or Greg Newsome over Micah Parsons because you "need" a CB, even if you don't think they are as good players, that is a mistake that if you (as we hope you did) think Micah Parsons is higher ranked. Getting great football players on to your team and having them contribute to a five year window is more key than the perception of a single year need and reaching on inferior players just to watch your needs change.
  16. Based on what we have seen this year, and more specifically eleven days ago at his last performance, NO Based on who he is when fully healthy YES So we really aren't in a position to decide which of the above he best fits 11 days later. I strongly would guess no, but I also don't think that he is somehow permanently cooked, and can never resemble the Von of old, so whenever that shows up in practice as judged by the coaching staff, I can't wait to see him active again, and really hope it is Sunday night (because they saw something this week that he didn't have 11 days ago).
  17. Was Chase because of need or was he the best player available? Until Parsons at 12 there wasn’t anybody better and it sure seems like they took the best player and not strategically a need. That’s the kind of decision I hope we make the next five drafts. Keep getting the most talent possible for our picks and use free agency for any hopes that emerge.
  18. I’m not sure any receiver available at pick #32 will be able to contribute right away, but I hope we take the best player available to get the most contribution total over the next five years
  19. And not to get ahead of ourselves one Ravens playoff loss to the Browns from an AFC championship in Buffalo.. The help we need is the Ravens to win one game and the Ravens to lose one game to control our own destiny at home all the way to February? Let's go 1-0 on Sunday against the Patriots to keep the dream alive.
  20. He is hurt. First play of the game his neck and after that play he was also limping a little coming on and off the field. He is awesome and Josh missed him twice on big plays and he still made some key plays and got open on some others where the ball didn’t get to him. Also Gabe and others were open as Diggs again got extra attention. Bills win and Diggs is a great player and a gamer.
  21. I was there today and close to the field on the Bills side. Watched warmups and sideline stuff. Josh is hurt. Throwing shoulder. You could see it during pregame warmups. During warmups before drives. How he grabbed his shoulder after missing on the first play of the game. How he missed his throws early and often. Great guts and execution to get us the win, but throwing a little less for a few weeks and having an extra day now he can get a little better, have a run first game against NE and be himself by Miami. Diggs was also hurt on the first play, his neck, but also had a little limp jogging on and off the field. Two gamers who did enough for us to win and head home for a Merry Christmas.
  22. Let's go 1-0 on Sunday. That's the same mentality that has lower seeds ride their way to the Super Bowl year in year out. It is very hard to win five games at once. Beat the Chiefs.
  23. I happen to like him as a personality, and his level headed intensity and commitment to and success at playing good football. What I like most is a .624 winning percentage and four straight playoff appearances, and five in six years. I do not like having a HC with coordinator duties on either side of the ball. We all know Bellichick is involved heavily in the defense, sometimes without a true DC and it works, but I don't love McD in that role.
  24. Trying to get the ball 40 yards in 20 seconds with one time out involves at least one long developing play downfield against a deep safety prevent defense, so Josh's overall completion / interception numbers are irrelevant. I think you can design a play that puts things in your favor, but getting the ball far enough down field that if it is picked you don't give up points, but it isn't necessarily simple. Strip sack and returnable INT both have a small percentage, and advancing the ball 40 yards in 20 seconds has a small percentage. So whichever path you take the likelihood the score changes is very very small. "how we have fared in overtime the last 6 seasons" is one of the worst small irrelevant sample takes to make a future decision. I'm all for the new age thing of going for 2 to win rather than 1 for overtime, when your chances of 2 are over 50/50 and your chances of winning in overtime are 50/50. But I do not have any reason to think our overtime chances are less than 50/50, so the question should be does not taking a knee give you a larger chance of scoring points than conceding points. Again, that is a debatable point, but with one time out the risk level of advancing the ball far enough and quickly enough doesn't seem like a smart bet. Most likely irrelevant, but I think the chances of conceding points are probably slightly higher than the chances of scoring (maybe 3% something goes bad, 2% something goes great, and 95% nothing happens)
