He was literally mugged on his 2nd 2pt conversion try. Damn near had his jersey yanked off. How that wasn’t a penalty is baffling.

Ref was shielded and part of a crew that prefers to let players decide games, which I am a fan of.

In those situations I always want Allen with the ball in his hands for at least 2 seconds. I hate the immediate read where you're relying on the defensive play call to be wrong, or a pass catcher to win their 1v1 matchup. I'd rather Allen have the ball with the ability to run it in or do his patented scramble right until someone breaks open. Run the fade on 1st or 2nd, I'm fine with that. On 3rd/4th or a 2PC don't make it so that somebody other than Allen decides the play.

Totally agree, spot on!  And Allen and this offense have never executed that fade well to begin with, I would understand it more if we converted it at a high rate, but we don't, its the opposite.  I hate that play every time the call it, and they even used to call it a lot with Diggs who wasn't even a big target.

We also went from a great down and short team to a total trainwreck in down and short.  I feel like because the Bills were so vocal and against the tush push they have decided they can't run it anymore and bastardized it in the AFCCG (worst version of it I have ever seen and nothing like we had been running it a high success rate previously) and we have even further gone away from it this year already.  So much so, on the goal line Allen had to over the top and put the ball at risk to get the TD.

The biggest offensive issue we had on Sunday was our many bad calls on 3rd and short and our 2 PT tries.  Its mind blowing how often they take away all of Allens strengths in these situations with bad play calls or poorly designed plays like our bastardized QB sneak now that went from a never fail attempt to now never works.

I'd guess they continue to use it expecting it to begin to click with Josh to bring that ball up to take advantage of Coleman's wild jumping ability. They have to feel Josh will get it and then they start to get a lot different defensive looks on Coleman, and not just on the goal line. There were a couple passes Josh hit Coleman high in the 4th- the first pass of the quarter and then again a great and effortless leap for Coleman on the opening play of the drive before the Ravens fumble that left 3 Raven DBs flat footed and out of the play. The Bills are clearly developing Coleman to become a reliable target and his possibly elite skill is getting in the air on a catch. I'm not positing that it's the right thing to do on those conversions, but I just don't think it's going to go away at this point.

For those saying he was crap for 3 quarters because of his yardage total - well watch the game again.  He was open and didn't get the ball several times during those 3 quarters and also our play calling was crap through 3 quarters as well.

For example - 3rd and goal, Allen had Keon on the left for 6 when he beat his guy off his cut.  Allen threw short to his left instead and didn't see Keon and we settled for a FG.

Our offense didn't find a rhythm until the 4th quarter, and there were a lot of terrible 2nd and 3rd down calls that killed drives, caused 3 and outs, etc.

agree, their is certainly a group here in this thread with a bias against Coleman, it is much like the bias against Allen in his early years, kinda pathetic actually,

It’s so strange because they called such a soft hold on Dorian strong early then mostly let both teams play haha

Dion is typically not very demonstrative but he looked pretty pissed off about the holding call they tagged him with as well.

Meanwhile Wiggins, Benford and even Hamilton were running around doing quality control testing on tearaway jerseys

It’s the worthy trade clouding judgement…with worthy out for awhile Keon is gonna have a chance to catch him in games played and will likely pass him statistically once their games played even out. And that’s even with Keon falling off pretty hard post injury.

From the nfl analyst narrative about that trade though you’d never know Keon has been putting up numbers when healthy lol  he’s actually been more of a big splash play type player than even worthy has ironically enough…his yards per reception numbers are very high... has to be one of the most ‘twisting the narrative for a good storyline’ type things I’ve witnessed…not trying to say one guy is better than the other but they’re both gonna be good at what they do

They must’ve picked him for the obligatory ‘we must call one penalty on the dbs to keep them somewhat honest’ because they knew he was too nice to complain lol

Hopkins had his arm fully extended pushing Benford away on his one handed TD catch. I don't mind them letting DBs play a bit. Missing a textbook OPI is the one call that frustrated me.

You can kind of see it here if you slow it down 3 seconds in but it's even more clear on the all 22:

I was more referring to an earlier 3rd down that Baltimore didn't convert because Benford was waterskiing down the field using Bateman (I think?) as a towrope.

I'm fine letting DBs put their hands on jerseys, mainly because I hate how easy they make it for WRs these days. If DBs can't make little grabs like that they have no chance to orient themselves against some of these freaks. I think the best officiating crews understand this. What they should be looking for are holds where the DB is restricting the WR's movement at his route break, or blatant tugs that are affecting the WR's ability to get to the catch point. I thought the officials in this one did a good job keeping their flags tucked away except for that one early bad call against Dorian Strong.

I hope we all understand that if Keon Coleman were to have a race with Tayler Rapp, Coleman would win.  I have joined in a bit on the joking about Coleman's speed, but I've never been a hater, and never believed that trading with the Chiefs so they could draft Worthy was a mistake.  It's not that unusual for a receiver who underwhelms in his rookie season to turn into a great receiver.  Coleman's ability to win on the boundary looks like it might be special and that could prove invaluable to the Bills.  Rest assured, defensive coordinators of future opponents will have to spent effort to try and figure out how to counter it.

I don’t know if Coleman made any great plays per se.  He didn’t catch that fade/2pt.  Dropped an early screen pass (no big deal).  But he was out there catching passes is scramble drill.

The TD catch off of the Knox deflection took a lot of focus and awareness.  Pretty nice catch.

I see a big season from him this year.  A game like Sunday's has to give him a lot of confidence.  Same with Kincaid.  He had some jump out there as well.  And lets not forget Knox.  I have been somewhat hard on him at times.  But I thought he was a presence for us all game long.

I hope we can all agree that the fade is the worst play in football.  I don't care if you have Megatron in his prime, I still hate that play.

Yeah I am not a fan of it, but if we do call it, at least do it on an early down.  Its so much worse on a critical 3rd or 4th down.

4th Best WR in league in yards this week. He may not have amazing speed but he breaks ankles.. and for a frame of his size to do that?

yea..

Id say he improved... now I want to see more like this before i can say he is a BONIFIED #1 WR in this league.. but at the least.. he has shown he is a

strong #2.

I love Keon, I was OK with the pick at the time, didn't love it but didn't hate it. I didn't like Worthy because I thought he would have durability issues but I liked some of the other WR's ahead of Keon. But if I am going to take the haters perspective I would just say "WelL ITs OnE GAmE". I honestly think so much of this teams fortunes on offense are going to be can they get Keon to take a step up and can Kincaid get back to where he was his rookie year plus be more consistent. So far on the early returns both guys have had nice week one performances.

But it is only one game let's see these young players continue to ascend!

Let's hope that Jets DC Wilks emphasizes this and it makes Shakir and Palmer available for a big game.

Then one of them can be considered "a strong 2" also.

That's my hope for this WR room.

Side note:  Wilks was McDermotts DB coach in Carolina for 5 years.  Maybe Sean can give Brady some tendency tips.

It was definitely his fault. The level of contact was not egregious. Again, he has to NOT allow that to happen, and yes I have rewatched the play more than just a few times (NFL+).

Yes blame the guy who was interfered with whose eyes are on the qb at the top of his route. LOL stupidity ffs.

The TD was a great play.  It wasn’t a great pass by Josh….but Keon gifted him a TD with a heady extremely clutch play on 4th down.  He doesn’t catch it- game is over

I wouldn't say it was a bad pass from Josh. That ball was headed right for an open Shakir. Knox tipped it before it got there. We will never know if Shakir would have caught that pass or not.
