Is it a dumb dumb dumb signing if he’s signed to the PS to help the young draft investments learn the system, mentor them and be a locker room presence?

imo, the PS has many potential uses now.  Not just to develop young players.

What motivation would he have to do this, exactly? Is that vet minimum salary a PS squad player would make just too much to pass up? He was 100% told he would have a chance to play, and given how awful our current safety situation is, he likely will.

If we have guys like Jordan Phillips and Jordan Poyer on our Practice Squad… that’s pretty awesome imo.

The new rules allow for more vets like this on PS and I’ll take some guys like this everytime over young guys who nobody else wanted to claim.  A good mix of young development guys and vets on your PS seems the way to go now.

Agree 💯

Because vets hate camp. Especially vets that looked extremely washed last season.

It’s my worthless opinion that Beane and Po have been in contact about this prior to signing him and was part of the plan.
if he’s signed to the 53 man roster-  then 🤦🏻‍♂️

yea there is no question they have been talking to poyer and phillips all along.

I can think of worse guys to play the Kareem Jackson role this year.  There’s no better “break glass” option than him.

If he wants to keep playing, even in the PS, that’s his motivation. He loves Buffalo, his wife loves Buffalo, and he can help the young guys. Little to no chance he ever plays in a game

Pretty sure he makes 21k per week on the PS.  Do the math.  It’s not chump change.

He’ll probably get a chance to play if the guys they currently have get injured or show that they suck.

I think he’s there to be a locker room guy, help the youngsters and get a ring

I dunno why people are acting like the sky is falling. He meets several needs from a backup.

Cheap. Able to learn our system (knows it). System fit. Locker room leader.

I dunno many teams with no dropoff for backup players, they aren't supposed to be world beaters. Our system seems to value smart players more than someone negligibly more athletic (again, backup pool were picking from).

Jordan can hold down the fort in a game here or there better than anybody else we can pick up at this point. Its not earth shattering breaking news, we got a high floor backup... cool. Let's move on

Is Poyer automatically slated to be a back up?  Neither guy at the top of the depth charts has solidified their spots.

Diana Russini just said he is signing to the practice squad according to WGR and Sal is speculating that Hancock might go to IR.

One thing is abundantly clear about McDermott:  He will take decision-making over athleticism every time. Every time.

McDermott wants the guy who reads and reacts correctly on every play. If he's a half-step getting to where he needs to be, McDermott will live with it.

His athleticism has declined to the point where all the ayahuasca and toad serum in his system had better give him glimpses into the future.

That's not gonna fly around here... we need you to have a knee-jerk, negative overreaction...

Yes Jordan Phillips and Jordan Poyer... makes you wonder if Beane is playing a silly word game.

13-year vets who are former All-Pros don't sign contracts with former teams to be on the practice squad all year and mentor younger players. If this was the intention, it would be unprecedented.

He’s not even going to be a backup, let alone a starter. He’s here to be on the PS. The sooner people understand this, the less likely it is we get the idiotic threads about him playing like we did with Micah last year

Hyde was a “never gonna call him up” type of PS player.   I do think Poyer could be in line for call ups if we have issues back there, but the plan is likely very similar to what they had Micah doing.

Yeah, it’s dumb.

How much did Micah Hyde help last season? I saw no uptick in safety play last season after Hyde was signed to the PS.

We have coaches. We need talent. We don’t need washed up has-been’s. It sucks saying that because we all loved Poyer.
