It was all about the guaranteed money, as I said earlier this offseason. Great deal for both sides, Cook is still an ascending player. Just wait until Gibbs and Bijan get their bag next year, this will look like a steal for us. I agree and, I think a few years down the road, Cook does the hold out/business stuff again. And with so much of the money front loaded, I think he will have more leverage than he did this year. 1 1 Quote

Well done BB Beane's best draft since 2018 (for obvious reasons). Sadly looks like he followed it in 2023 with a bit of a dud. Big year for all those guys. 2 Quote

If he consistently has season like last year then he'll have proven to be worth whatever he wants in a new extension. If he doesnt live up to last year then he has no leverage for such a hold out. Even less than this year as he will be 28-29 years old. 2 minutes ago, boyst said: Want to see dead cap hit on last year. HappyDays Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I never thought I'd be happy giving a RB a 2nd contract but yeah I really like this deal for us. Cook is the only skill player we have that can score from anywhere on the field. I didn't want to let that ability get away. 8 8 1 Quote

Macro I want that gamebreaking ability to come from my receiving room not my running back room. But until I have it from one I'm unwilling to give it up from the other. I agree I am not a "pay running backs" guy. But in this situation I was always leaning slightly towards "pay Cook". 7 3 Quote

When you factor in the Bills WR corps is average at best then getting Cook signed was a must. He is the closest we have to an elite level player at the skill position besides #17. 3 Quote
Dillenger4 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Congrats James! And congrats Bills fans. This was the biggest problem we would have faced if Cook sat out or was disgruntled. He is one our top weapons. Opposing DC's just sheet their drawers because we are a comin boys!!!!! GO BILLS!!!! It's on.... Now, watch Bosa tear the league apart! Get well Max cause we neeeeed you back. Gonna be a great season. Thanks James!!!!!!! Quote
The Jokeman Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I'm presently shocked as fully expected this to not happen. Kudos to both sides to find a friendly middle ground. 2 Quote

Just hope they have room for McGovern and Torrence next year. Same, amazing to me how many people are super happy with the deal. You lose one of your top OL, his production goes down. I've always been against paying RBs as the line dictates a lot of their performance. Examples of this run rampant. Swifts numbers before during and after the Eagles. Zeke's numbers after 2 OL left from Dallas. Murray after he left Dallas. Larry Johnson and others for the Chiefs after their OL retired. Saquon with a good line. He avg 4.5 yards per carry BEFORE contact. Edited August 13 by warrior9 1 Quote

Better a clench than an unexpected and involuntary release. We are a much better and more dangerous team with Cook, and I’m fine with the terms. This could have been done sooner and with less angst, but it’s done and I’m pleased. 1 1 Quote

If he has a good year and it willing to take a reasonably team friendly deal I'm in. But if he wants to be in the $15m and over tier of guard deals I'm letting him play out year four before I even think about that. Quote
