His drop yesterday was brutal but he also had several blocking reps that looked like this: Davidson needed to catch every pass in his vicinity to have even a small of chance of making the roster. Man, this is excellent from Hawes. Even after initial seal, he stayed engaged for another 10 years. Really encouraging and excellent stuff. With as much as Brady loves the jumbo / big sets, this has to have him drooling 2 Quote

If he can just become a functional pass catcher he'll be a perfect TE3. 6 Quote
Cray51 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 That blocking by Hawes is top class. 3rd and short with him and Knox in with Gilliam is a LEGIT top end run blocking crew. 1 Quote

I wonder if a new wrinkle in Brady's offense is going to be Hawes taking some of the snaps Anderson had last season. Replacing a 6th offensive linemen with a blocking TE who for as lacklust as he might be as a pass catcher certainly is a better pass catcher than a 6th offensive linemen? Quote

I absolutely think that there will be a reduction in 6OL this year, with Hawes replacing the 6th O-lineman on those plays, and presenting at least the threat/possibility of being a pass catcher. I also think Kincaid and Knox are primarily pass catchers and that it just didn't make sense to have their third TE be primarily a pass catcher as well (a la Quintin Morris). If your top two guys aren't excellent blockers and you like to roster 3 TEs, it just makes sense for your TE3 to be a hoss in the blocking game. 1 Quote

Knox is a good blocker from all the metrics and pundits analysis but I think he's also a solid pass catcher so I do wonder if the Bills are considering a lot of 3 TE sets with Knox/Hawes in blocking roles and Kincaid in the slot or split wide even? I love seeing Brady adding wrinkles and not trying to stay complacent. 2 Quote

This will have added bonus of us not having to take as many penalties for OL not reporting eligible 😆 1 1 Quote

Then you stop and lateral the ball right before the line.. when NO ONE was in front of him for several yards... he could of walked and slid to get first down and still never got touched.. it was a horrible throw decision. If he can just be consistent catching the ball, he’ll be in position to make some plays. 8 minutes ago, nuklz2594 said: Milano looks good and back to form. Do we extend him and he retires as a Bill? If he holds up the entire season I could see them offering him a market contract to stay another 3 years. If he doesn't, he'll have to decide what's best for his career and might end up taking less to stay put. 1 Quote

I was more alluding to if he looks good and back to form in the post I had quoted. Quote

Be a shame to see him elsewhere 1 Quote
