Yeah, he’s stealing money from the next guy like Diggs who they just paid $31 million not to play for them and the rotational defensive linemen who got suspended for PEDs that the Bills just gave $20 million guaranteed.  Why would you pay market value to the guy who just put up 134 yards and 2 TDs in the AFCCG after scoring 18 TDs in the regular season when you could save half a percent of the salary cap and give it to guys who are going to be suspended for cheating?

YAAAASSS!! Get your bag King!!! You pinball types only play till 29!!!

Even if your absurd logic were true, why did they wait until Josh broke his hand to give him the ball?  He literally set the franchise single season record for TDs in a season before scoring 2 more in the AFCCG.  (By the way, if you read the postgame threads, most of this board was convinced that the Bills would have won that game if they’d have given him the ball on the final, failed drive.)

You mean when Allen broke his hand on the go ahead TD week 1 against the Cardinals?

But wait, didn't James Connor make the probowl rushing in 2018? And didn't they decide in the offseason yo move to a more passing offense  resulting in Roethlisberger throwing for over 5100 yards?

Just want to get all the facts.

Conner did make the ProBowl rushing for 973 yards. He had 1400 scrimmage yards.

The year prior, Bell had almost 1300 rushing yards and 1900 scrimmage yards.

Big Ben did lead the league in passing and interceptions.

Did they decide to more of a passing offense because Bell had publicly said he wouldn’t play if they tagged him again? We’ll never know.

Baylon Spector hurt

Khalil Shakir hurt

All these injuries are becoming worrisome

Maxwell Hairston hurt

But yeah, not participating in training camp is likely going to get him injured.

I think that's my point though. The deal history suggests there isn't much evidence of Beanie low balling anyone

None of us actually know, but on the things we do know, it's at the very least just as likely that Cook is high-balling the Bills

(Don't think high balling is a thing, but makes sense to me 🤦🏽‍♂️)

I mean, he kinda has, in that he hasnt had many tough negotiations since so many of these guys are just happy to sign any offer.

The Cook situation is very interesting to me because it's really Beane's first tough negotiation. Everything else has been a kinda obvious decision one way or another.

Beane negotiates through the media as much as, if not more than, Cook and the other players.

Seems presumptuous, I mean these are real people too 😂

But yes, it's the first such situation during my time supporting the Bills for sure and interesting to see how it pans out. Annoying, but interesting nonetheless.

Across the whole league and all the positions, I guess the average result here is that they meet at a compromise that looks something like 40/3 with an out after 2 years - unless either Cook or the Bills are dug in (to max money or not paying RBs respectively)

Where he received his second most carries of the season.  This board is fun sometimes.

let me know which of those injuries would jeopardize an established players impending free agency in any truly meaningful way

I mean they didn't, you are right.

But if Hairston was going into year 4 and it was the ACL like everyone thought?

I think we can all at least see what Cook is worried about, even if we don't agree

There have been 6 ACL injuries so far this preseason so far. A week ago, it looked like Hairston had just joined the list.

Cook’s job right now is to be out there practicing with his teammates, helping the team get better.  So, sitting out practice when he’s healthy means he is NOT taking care of his “business”.

Imagine if every player would just sit out of practice whenever they want and call it “business“.  If there’s no penalties or fines allowed for this selfish behavior, they need to correct this in the next collective bargaining agreement.

I don’t know if this is Cook’s intention, but I think this move by Cook reduces the chances of Buffalo offering him a multi year contract.

I agree Cook has every right to make as much money as he can. I just disagree this is the way to do it.  If he believes Buffalo’s offer isn’t enough, use that perceived slight as motivation.  Get a big injury insurance policy. Then go prove your worth on the field this season and sign next spring for as much as you can get, wherever you choose to sign.

So the right way to do it is to go out there and risk injury, lowering his value?

Nah.

Would someone please tell Cook he's not a 3 down back.  Somehow, I don't think he realizes that yet.  I think he's giving Buffalo "the business"....

Who is starting RB if Cook doesn't play.  He is clearly the difference maker even if he plays 45% of snaps.  We dont want Davis and Johnson playing all the snaps.  Or with some chump added to the mix.

Ah good catch.  I hated both those deals.

Extending Epenesa was a mistake. He’s decent but is feast or famine. He's made a few flash plays but not worthy of the extension he received.

I think both parties are right here.  Cook doesn’t want to risk injury and wants to be paid like a top back.

The Bills want to keep a talented player, but on their terms.

Both are right for their own interests.  How does it end?  That we shall see.   I’d see if the Panthers are willing to trade for him, just to threaten 🤣

Look I don't blame Cook. He feels he should be paid and he absolutely deserves to be. Brandon Beane needs to get Cooks agent on the horn and get it done. He's got a bit of leverage at this state of the negotiation. Offer Cook 12 or 13 mill for 3 years and guarantee it and be done

Our cap wont allow this and paying this much for him is too much. Six to 8 mil over 3 years with incentives
