***Multiple reports that Hairston's knee injury is just an LCL sprain and he's week to week***

It's very good news long term, but I have to imagine this has a seriously detrimental effect on his development for this season. Being in the classroom is good, but he'll be missing valuable practice reps and might not get back until everyone is in game planning mode. I hope they designate an assistant o work with him specifically throughout the year so come the playoffs he can be a meaningful contributor.

He won’t play many meaningful snaps this season now that he’s missing practice time. If you miss practice, you’re dead to McDermott unless you’ve been here.

I try to be glass is half full with this. You have to think the Bills win the division and get a home playoff game, even if they're not able to secure homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. It's a long season and I see Hairston getting better and better as the year goes on. Hopefully by the time the playoffs start he's fully in the zone and is beginning to make more and more plays. Early in the season doesn't worry me because this team has shown it can win games then, even with a few holes on the team. If the kid is in the groove by December that will bode really well for the playoffs and that's when he can make some noise.

Sure, we are probably more likely to see White start the season.  Given the alternative, a couple weeks of missed practice was the best possible outcome here.  Assuming his talent is there, it does not mean we wont be playing much this year compared to if this did not happen.  I think you are blowing it a little out of proportion.

Thats ok. You don't want o just throw him in there after missing time. He wasn't very consistent at this point anyway. Maybe with time he'll be in there. Idk mid season. As long as tree good we're good

That's my take with regards to the season as well. I just feel differently about this because he's a rookie behind an established vet, so his opportunity to get 1 on 1 coaching about his technique and the trade secrets of the pros is definitely going to diminish when they are playing games every week. There will probably still be some, but training camp is huge for those reps and putting together a regimen for what needs to be worked on during the season.

I'm not doom and glooming over it, but it absolutely has to have an impact on his rookie ceiling, and for a team that needs to squeeze out every last ounce of potential in order to take the next step, this sort of thing matters. We already know what the floor and ceiling are without Hairston. He's part of the attempt to raise them.

I'm just hoping they're comfortable enough to have him as the primary backup when either Benford or White go down.  Benford and obviously White have had their fair share of injuries so I'm hoping Dane Jackson isn't the primary backup.

So happy right now.

Best news of training camp so far.

Ya, that was just depressing. It wasn't just going to be this year and we would have never really known what pre injury form looked like. Very happy.

I feel like it's only a sprain because I gave 3 co workers forehead kisses as a way to say good job this morning.

No HR meeting yet either

That’s good luck!! Gotta do that everyday or any injury that happens is on you!

Also HR meeting coming soon 😂

Said this after he was drafted, but normally this isn't a kid who should be playing much in his rookie year. He brings speed and some instincts in both zone and man, but he really needs to upgrade his functional strength, and if he can spend his rookie year being in some sub packages and relief snaps, while doing the off field work in season and off season, I'd consider that a blessing in disguise.
