Actually... I always heard that Rich was designed to be eventually domed,  why it was built that way.

 

I guess they duped us again.  This time with a taller hole.😆🤣

Its certainly nicer than what used to be called the Gator Bowl where the Jaguars play what supposedly is called football.  I went to the Bills-Jags playoff game there after the 2017 season.  That place is an absolute dump.  But then again so is the team.  And the owner would rather they play full time in London anyways.  Anyone know if they have renovated it in the past 8 years?

 

I was also at Gillette Stadium to see Metallica last summer.  Pretty nice facility.  Nothing spectacular.  But a solid venue for the time it was built.  And was at Levi Stadium to see Metallica 3 weeks ago in Santa Clara.  That is a beautiful facility.  Great sight lines.  And the area around the stadium is nice.  Interestingly the stadium is right next to Great America amusement park.  They pretty much share parking lots.

The LED wall and graphics systems are gonna be awesome! All from ROSS, a Canadian company. Xpression Tessera to be exact. But they will have some LED wall control like no other stadium. Just sayin.... watch for it!

Admittedly it does seem like a very large effort to build this for something only temporary, that they couldn't figure out a better way like have everything pre attached to the roof panels.  But am sure they've thought through this and this was the only way and probably a similar thing has been done in ten other prior built stadiums.  Will say too while this looks very elaborate, having been working in industrial settings involving some crazy scaffolding, it does install much easier, quicker, and simpler than it looks.

I'd like to see a shot down the sideline, just to see how stacked the decks are on top of each other.  Anyone have that shot?  Curious how much further back the front of the upper deck is vs the front of the lowest section.

Found one on the Bills site FWIW, stacked pretty much one over the other, doesn't look like the front of the upper level is further back than the front of the second level

Anyway, the first stadium was brilliant... Except it was dug into Native bones and still missing a roof.  Oh, remember the huge crown to the field before they had better drainage solutions?

Yes, the crown was absurdly high to the point of probably not being orthopedically good to play on.

 

I’m wondering if part of the consideration for the elevation of the playing surface is related to the water table for the new grass field.

Probably not.  There's an whole underground/field growing system.

Most on here know I’m an architect. We typically wouldn’t t see a dance floor unless the work being installed covers the entirety of the surface. For example, ceiling panels, etc. For lights and speakers they’d use a lift. I guess we’ll all find out together.

OK, didn't know that about you.  So I'm an ME and have used lifts in many places to, but didn't see much of an area where you had a flat and large enough surface to sit the lift and looked like it would have to swing in fairly far from there.  Recall one project working in an area with around a 32 foot high ceiling to next level but needed access to a surface about 4 or 5 feet below that level, so they built scaffolding off the floor above and hung it down.  It was just entirely clamped onto the floor above to hold in place. 

 

Maybe there's a way they can easily just keep leap frogging that structure along as they get to the next section??
