Tough to disagree!

 

Now, I believe this most likely stems from the Dolphins either indicating they arent interested in signing Jr., or that their offer was incredibly lower than what the Samuel camp was expecting.

 

But always good to hear such things about Division rivals.

Sort of what it looks like from the outside but I would say lack of respect vs sensitivity. Motivation, balance, is sort of a requirement of coaching. Being sensitive doesn't mean you meet the requirement or don't meet it (Dan Campbell or Dick Vermeil are both VERY sensitive as an example and both meet the requirement easily). Players ultimately have to respect you. That is what has to happen. If they don't it gets ugly after a few years which I expect we will see more of this season.

I'm wondering if the "Mike McDaniel is a pushover, Chris Grier, the GM, has no backbone" is because they hyped up Jr's agent with how much they'd love to have him but then low-balled Samuel's camp and told them they cant offer more because the owner doesnt want to spend. Which would be due to Ross knowing he's going to fire both of them at the end of the season and doesnt want them locking in any expensive long-term deals.

This is pretty aggressive statement lol from a Dad whose son needs a job... not saying it makes it all true... but it is certainly what a lot of us see on the outside...  count me in to see a Dolphins implosion this year.

Certainly possible, I just never viewed MM as having the demeanor to hold it down for multiple years.

Regarding McDaniel:

 

Hard to respect a guy who looks like a guy who won a contest to be a head coach for a day.

 

He looks more suited to be selling computers at your local Best Buy.

Positional coach becoming a head coach.  Players friend instead of leader.  Super smart guy with a smart offense.  As a play caller doesnt hold anything back similar to younger Reid.  By October he used all his new stuff.  Biggest ego on the team is Hill and the offense pacifies him.  Gotta get him his shots.  Unable to get players to show up on time.  Fangio tried to do something about it but backed the players instead?  Guy is not leader.  Should be a well paid OC imo.

He isn't that great of a playcaller, even. He routinely abandons the game plan and running game against the Bills because he panics once the Bills get up on them on the scoreboard. He does well when everything goes right, and struggles when things go wrong. He doesn't have the mental toughness or resilience needed.

Absolutely bonkers how fast he soured on them.  2 seasons total.  Last year signed this deal:

(from article).  So this idiot started undermining his DC year one and ran Fangio out of town...... then they gave him a record deal the following year, meanwhile what did Fangio do?  Go on to help put the Eagles over the top for a Lombardi lol

 

I cant believe anyone would sign this dude let alone trade assets for him.  On top of being a total douche, hes constantly hurt... sounds like a guy i wouldve traded for in Madden because his loud mouth in the media must mean he's good.  Pitt loves these types and its baffling.  Im all for taking an all upside bet/ zero risk on a guy with supreme talent (a guy disgruntled in one place only is kind of my rule) .... but paying him at the top of his position, after being a douche on your own team too.

 

Absolutely baffling behavior by not only Ramsey, but by the Fins front office lol  they deserve everything coming to them

II know this will get s*** all over, but the guy was not put into a position to succeed either.  I dont think hed make it as a head coach anyways, but that roster is not for some newb coach to handle.  If Brady left us after the season I would take MM in a hearbeat!!  Smart football guy, with  great lockerroom chemistry... he'd have plenty of staff (and players with lockerroom respect) around him to help keep players disciplined.  Id absolutely love that scenario to play out

I dont think it's his "looks". There have been plenty of "twerpy" coaches that players love and respect. But it's more his demeanor. That cool guy/joking/"for the memes" schtick only works when you are winning. The second adversity hits, it falls apart. And there is lots of adversity in the NFL for every team.
