It's the deep offseason, I check TBD 10xs a day and there is no news/few threads. Dead news cycle time of year sooooo....

 

The Hollins discussion gave me an idea. Who are your favorite Buffalo Bills who only played here 1 year.

 

Hollins is up there. To dig a Lil deeper, Emmanuel Sanders was fun to have here.

 

I was a kid so I mighttt be misremebering (and breaking my own parameters) but I loveddddd Sam Gash! And on the full opposite side of spectrum Larry Centers!

Terrell Owens was a one year Bill.  He had a good year and was a total pro in Buffalo, as opposed to his situation with other teams.  I remember a 90 odd yd TD pass from Fitzpatrick to Owens one time.  Maybe still holds the Bills record for longest TD.

TO was the first to come to mind for me as well. I probably wouldn't say "beloved" but "fun" for sure. 

 

BTW does he still have the key to the city? 😅

There are a long list of guys that were here for a minute. The TO thing was fun. One guy that I haven’t seen mentioned is Karlos Williams. He was looked like a future star but smoked / ate himself out of the league after a year. He deserves mention.

He came when no one else would. Was a complete pro. He, Fitz & Fred Jackson made a mediocre 6-10 team fun to watch.

I think was 97 yards. I heard Fitzpatrick talk about it (or maybe it was TO). Broke the huddle and lined up. Both of them looked at the defensive set and thought, "oh, boy!" Fitz and TO made brief eye contact.  Then the snap, and they just did it. 

 

TO actually didn't have such a good year in Buffalo. He was, as you say, a total pro. But every year in the league after his fourth season, TO went for more than 1000 yards, except for two years when he would have made it, but for injuries, and his single season in Buffalo.  His problem in Buffalo wasn't injuries; it was named Trent Edwards. For whatever reason, Edwards did not throw the ball to Owens. That ended when he was benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick.  It was pretty clear that Fitz's thought process was something like, "Hey, I'm a mediocre QB on a bad team that happens to have a HOF pass receiver. I'm throwing it to him."  Owens' targets and receptions went up. If Fitz had started the whole season, Owens would have been over 1000 yards.

Record has since been tied by Gabe Davis, 98 yards.

 

My 1 year nominee, more like 6 or 7 games, was the coach at the time, Perry Fewell ?sp

maybe it's recency (spelling?) bias but it's mack hollins for sure

 

it's the fact he was scrappy, completely unselfish, a leader and made the most of what he had. he was the embodiment of the people that I love about my birthplace in western new york.
