appoo Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago (edited) The reason I’d consider Gabe is that when healthy (which is a big if), he brings one very specific skill set that the the WR kinda lacks - downfield route running and body control to be a deep threat. Bills won’t ask him to be the general 2nd option in the route trees, instead he’ll fill a very specific set of routes and generally act as the deep read on the field Edited 19 hours ago by appoo Quote

I am not saying the wr's couldn't succeed on the outside but we do have a lot of wr's that are viewed as slot guys. Quote

But he'd be our best blocking WR and a downfield threat still- at $6m or less its worth a shot They can't go back to the mistakes. They already are taking a risk bringing in Moore.......who had 8 INT's thrown his way when targeted last year. Gabe was good for 6 in both 2022 and 2023. Jacksonville got the whole Gabe experience last year. He had some killer drops, errors and then would catch a TD after the game was out of hand and pad his stats. That's why they ate $20M. 1 1 Quote
ElMarko Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago .05% chance Davis is resigned by the Bills. Unless there's a camp injury - and he's still unsigned - its not going to happen. Quote

Coach Tuesday Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Could see him going to NE and getting the band back together with Diggs. 1 1 Quote

No different than Phillips and Lawson in years past. Solid cheap floor move. If Coleman doesnt become the blocker they want, Gabe goes right back to that big slot on run downs role. His feel with Allen on scrambles was very good. 1 Quote
stlbills13 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I'm not opposed to it on a super cheap deal but the roster numbers just don't work out for him. There's no real room Quote
Bullfrog Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I like the guys we have honestly. I hope he gets a solid job somewhere else. Seems like a good dude. 1 1 Quote
boyst Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Would you take him over Hollins? Him over Bobby trees? Quote
transplantbillsfan Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Isn't he injured? Can a player be released when rehabbing from an injury without a settlement? Quote
FLFan Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago (edited) The Bills should have absolutely no interest in this guy at this point. He is not good enough to crack their top 5 and there are better developmental and special teams options. Frankly, I was glad he was gone - very unreliable. Despite some opinions, there are teams with much weaker WR depth than the Bills who would be happy to give him a vet minimum try. Edited 19 hours ago by FLFan 2 Quote
section122 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I think he is looking at a few options: Giants - Daboll and Chad Hall. Pitt- just traded Pickens so they have a spot open and he played one of his best games against them. Patriots - Money to burn and a distinct lack of WR talent and that is just off the top of my head. I could see him coming back to the Bills if nobody else wants him but I think that would be a last ditch move on his behalf (albeit probably his best chance to be productive). I think Buffalo would welcome him back on a cheap deal and I wouldn't be against it. I didn't love him as the #2 WR but I do think he is a very good WR 3 or 4. Can anyone speak to whether or not Brady has less option routes that the EHP system? He really struggled reading coverages correctly which led to a lot of the issues between him and Allen imo (eagles game immediately springs to mind). Quote

IMHO he has no role here, I personally doubt we keep more than 5 WRs as it is with all the bodies we have in the secondary and DL now. So, I can’t see him coming back unless he’s willing to do it as a backup who doesn't get many snaps/targets. I would think he wants a place where he will get more opportunities than what the Bills WR room offers him right now. I wouldn't be against bringing him back as depth, but I just think he is going to prioritize a place where he can at least compete to start. I wouldn't be against bringing him back as depth, but I just think there are better opportunities for him at this point in his career. I will honestly be shocked if he isn’t a Steeler or Giant before the end of this week. They both wake way too much sense right now Edited 18 hours ago by Alphadawg7 Quote

Starr Almighty Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago 1 hour ago, transient said: 🤔... is this sarcasm or bad math? My detector appears to need recalibrating. His last 2 seasons in Buffalo, 40% of his targets being picked would be result in 35 INTs a year due to Gabe alone, which I can definitely appreciate if being said sarcastically ... I could believe it if the actual stat was 40% of the INTs that Allen threw during those seasons were targeting Gabe and were due to miscommunication. I think it said over his career not 1 season that would be crazy. They may have been exaggerating but I remember it being either in the 30s or 40s due to him running the wrong route. Quote
paulmm3 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Wasn't sad to see him go because we knew he'd get massively overpaid by some dumb team. Turns out the Jags were that dumb team. When he signed that $13m/year deal with the Jags I'd have taken him back with the Bills for closer to $3-$4m/year. He's a great blocker and I have no ill will towards the guy for being massively overpaid (I'd sign that deal too!) so I'd be alright with signing him for cheap here and seeing if he can help. 1 Quote
