Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)

I'm curious to see how Moore and Samuel are used in the offense.

 

Palmer, Shakir, Coleman, Samuel and Moore?

Idk about you guys, but that's more talented than last season's Cooper, Shakir, rookie Coleman, Hollins and Samuel.

I think had Cooper not come on mid season and wasn't injured, we'd have been able to do more and probably would have been more talented with him. But given what we got from him, it's hard to argue that Palmer and Moore aren't an upgrade over Cooper and Hollins. We'll still have to see what each brings us though before we can declare that truth.

Huge point here. Not necessarily for this topic exactly, but I'm really hopeful Brady comes up with all kinds of counters to and expansions off of last year's tendencies, as well as new stuff. Exciting to watch both sides evolve and discover what they can do well in 2025.

I will remain in the " prove-it " mindset with these two

 Hollins was clutch and made plays.

 Cooper was a ? all along for me

 

 we can see the potential for the two new guys in this offense.

 as for the aside  Much rides on both Bills Coordinators and advisors this year to get Bills past the " wall" lol

With the Palmer and Moore signings we have two receivers who are good separators.  We have two good tight ends and Kincaid is only going to get better.  If Coleman can make contested catches and Samuel becomes a more consistent downfield threat along with Shakir doing his damage out of the slot then we have the ingredients for a very efficient and explosive passing game.

Hollins made plays but he wasn't exactly a tough matchup for CB's in man coverage.  He was ranked 87th of 99 WR's that qualified in terms of receiving ability according to PFF FWIW.  His blocking will be the most missed part of his game.  Correlation doesn't exactly equal causation but our offense put up 30 plus points in eight straight games when we traded for Cooper.

 

We definitely got faster and Palmer and Moore's skill set (smaller, shiftier, better route runners/separators) is what Allen has thrived with in WR's in the past (Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Shakir, and even McKenzie to some extent).

Palmer doesn't really expand the playbook as much as they hope executes it better?

 

And Moore is here more for depth and competition rather than for gameplanning around? 

 

Either way I liked your point about Brady's potential growth. SO important whoever is on the final 53.

With the bolded bit in first paragraph, are you switching from Hollins to Cooper there (trade and offensive run that followed)?

 

Love the point about smaller/better separators being Josh's wheelhouse, and hadn't viewed Palmer through that lens (6'1" 209), but it's fascinating. So much difference between what Beane likes in a WR (size/physicality) and what suits Allen better (speed/separation). In the draft, Beane loves tall WRs and isn't super troubled by middling 40 times.

 

Right at the start of day three I really fell in love with the idea of Jaylin Lane. Or of course Jalen Royals. One of the Jayleins. Someone with explosiveness and shiftiness and speed. But alas.

I'd like him to call a QB sneak off of right guard instead of left for a change.  I kinda think KC knew what was coming on every single sneak during the playoff game. I know I did.

Yeah.  I forgot to add his name so even I got confused there.  I'll edit it to make me seem less idiotic than usual.  You're right though in the disconnect between the type of WR's Beane drafts compared to the WR's he's had success with (Shakir being the only exception).  Heck, even an older E. Sanders had more success compared to guys like Coleman (so far) and Davis.

This is interesting. It's not so much a question of whether Palmer and Moore fit Brady's offense. I wouldn't call it "expanding" the play book, more like evolving it. 

 

What's happened is they've substituted guys who are, I think, better physically than the guys who left.  It's up to Brady to figure out how his offense must change to create the kind of opportunities that fit the skills of his new players. And yes, it's true every season, for every coordinator, because as the season progresses, defenses figure out how to stop almost everyone. These free agent signings are about getting Brady the best athletes for him to work with.

but he cannot be so focused on that  that when a player gets hot in a game it stops him from feeding him the ball, and again and again and again...

 

he did do that last year, but sometimes not

Cook was on fire, not stoppable. Feed him more and then the rest would have opened up more too, as KC would change things to stop him

 

 McD seems to feel the way most of us do about that game, it seems, so that is a good sign--he is a man who does not forget and learns from the past

Moore and Samuel aren’t the same player. Moore can stretch the field and actually run routes, Samuel will stick to his RAC game of being a gadget guy
