These were the easy decisions. Tre and his 6 million savings will be next, Harty and his 4.1 million savings too, maybe Morse and his 8.5 million worth of savings or a Taron and/or Dion extension too

Nailed it!

For all the people happy about them losing a guy they spent money keeping for his Special Teams play, I'm not sure him taking a step back in said Special Teams play isn't a big reason why he's getting the axe.

I'm not really sure, but I haven't really noticed him as a gunner as much this last season, and you usually can.

Bills freeing up money to bring back Tyler Matekevich most likely ..

Good luck to Siran … played here 6 years …

But yea. he did his job well for most of those years

But if you cannot break into the  rotational role on defense with confidence after two  ...

How the hell did they sign him to a deal that would have ever paid him$3M in the first place. Hate the roster and cap space used for special teams. I understand it was probably all funny money but still. League minimum and rookie deals is all we can and should be paying for ST guys.

Replacement is already on the team and is cheaper.  If you are going to make 3m as a kick coverage only player, in a world that doesn't really do KO returns anymore, you'd better be flipping amazing at it because there are a ton of guys coming out of school every year who would be thrilled to have that job for rookie minimum.

Yep. And he wasn't the same guy without Taiwan on the other side. Gunners have to work in tandem. Taiwan and Siran were a great tandem. He wasn't the same without him.

To me this always likely came down to one of Neal or Gilliam for 2024 and Gilliam "does more" in non-ST roles.

Still believe that teams could essentially eliminate the need for special team coverage "specialists" by kicking every kickoff out of EZ and punting oob.  To me it is such an unnecessary waste of a roster spot.

Can't always punt it out of bounds, but can juice the hang time.  Notice that Haack came back on the same day.  Might be part of the plan.  Elite holder, been here before, and hits a lot of "wedges."
