Traffic was so screwed up that we missed the first quarter and then some. But still it was the first game. My parents bought 3 season tickets for Rich Stadium for the opening season. Mom and my brother picked me up from work at Sheridan and Egbert at 3:30 for the 7:00 PM first ever game, a preseason game against the Redskins. We got into our seats 5 minutes before kickoff. Just in time to see Herb Mul-Key return the opening kickoff for a TD. I was just outside the gate trying to get in and heard the roar of the crowd before kickoff building, and building, the excitement was palpable, and then……….we all knew something had gone very, very wrong.
