Curious to see your thoughts here, this is totally a hypothetical question but I believe you would get more impact on the offensive side of the ball assuming you could get middle of the road guys to replace.

You have to figure devante adams is good for almost a touchdown a game.

For context the chiefs made the number one seed with some of the worst defensive ratings in the nfl this season.

Edmunds and Oliver are very good players.

Adams is a bonafide superstar elite weapon right smack dab in our biggest position of need.

This is a no brainer. We would fill those defensive positions, and there would likely be a dropoff... But this team needs another weapon on offense. Someone besides josh and Stef to carry this team.

Davante could be that guy (in this made up binary scenario)

Davante Adams signed a 5 year, $140,000,000 contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, including a $19,250,000 signing bonus, $65,670,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $28,000,000.

How do you plan to sign Adams exactly?

Have Terry drill another well. Done deal.

We’ll probably take a swing at a WR in the 1st round of the draft.  Then start building with Guards and probably a Safety.  I wouldn’t mind finding a TE if at all possible.  We have our RB room as Cook is coming along really nice.  Diggs is phenomenal, and we have other good tools including a gadget guy in McKenzie, solid #1 TE in Knox.

In this binary choice, I’d go Adams .. but I’d rather get Allen a younger WR2 and not give up what it would take to trade for Adams.

This goes for any top end WR under contract anywhere.

Would take at least a 1 for Adams, and we’d likely get out-bid with where we’re drafting.  Even if we traded Oliver for a 2nd, Bills don’t exactly have the ability to just be trading away multiple picks right now with Allen’s contract hitting.

I mentioned earlier the same in terms of a #2 WR, and if we have the right pick, trade up for him.  The other salient matter is I haven’t looked up all of our DL guys we signed, but they need extensions.  That costs on a year where we start to see Allen’s $42 mil. Hit the books.

They extension guys are important, but as important is Settle, Jones, Shaq, Epenesa, J Phillips to come back.  We need them as Von will be out until most likely late November, December.  We’ll need him for the playoffs next year.

Bills are pretty well set at DL next year.

DE: Von (2 guar years), Rousseau (2 years + option), AJ and Basham (1 year)

DT: Oliver, Jones, Settle (all 1 year)

Bills can simply bring back Shaq on a team friendly deal (if he’s willing) and then draft a DT in the middle rounds.

After next year, yes, lots of decisions to make on AJ, Basham, Oliver, Jones and Settle.

As of now, I’d extend Daquan Jones.  Let the rest play and then evaluate.

As much as I would love Adams here, Josh doesn’t play defense, and I am more convinced Josh can (and does) elevate the play of those around him on O. The D on the other hand, needs all the help it can get from commodities on the come up.

Josh needs more weapons and I am willing to go out and find them, but holy hell do we really need Tremaine to stay.

Yeah, HUDS, I'm with you.  that is priority 1.  Draft a WR, early and often in 2023 and keep Edmunds.

-Von should sit most of the regular season

-Rouseeau is great.

-AJ and Basham are = street free agents.

One of them will probably get hurt.

-Shaq is a FA.  Bringing him back would be great….if he doesn’t get offered more elsewhere.

DT is fine, I agree.  Our 4th DT should probably only be making pennies next year.

DE might be a position we look to add a piece. Von won’t be around for awhile.  Hopefully

SC, thanks as I wasn’t in a position to look it up , but Jones and Shaq then will be important.  It took them from 2017 to now to get the line set.  I’ll agree with Donuts that weapons and Guards are the priority.  I don’t know how we don’t find some common ground with Poyer to somehow secure a 2 yr. Extension.

The last thing I’ll add is we had the DL save for a hot minute our top flight secondary with all of those injuries.  Now when Tre is really into form the newness getting lots of time in Elam and Benford, and Taron, well he’s Taron, Dr. Poyer and Mr. Hyde back, we will be lock against weapons on the Fish and Cincy.  I can’t wait come February to think about next year.

For now it’s enjoy an ars kicking to the Fush Sunday, and as BB says, we’re onto Cincinatti coming to us.

Kick their tails and Chiefs here we come.  I must actually fly up for the Atlanta neutral location game.  All good times.

If we get to that ending,  you boys need to reach out so we can all tailgate with a couple of adult pops together.

Your missing the point in the post that says hypothetical.

Tremaine and Ed would prob be around 25 million a year. It's close enough to say if we spent the money which would you rather have if it was actually a thing.

So I presume the OP means re-signing Edmunds, extending (not re-signing) Oliver, and/or trading for Adams. Ideally, Edmunds gets tagged and, yes, negotiating with Oliver is prudent. The idea of trading for another big name, vet WR is silly.
