Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?

My thing is why haven't they even tried to give Allen a second stud receiver before now? Bills management has been out to lunch for 3 years. One year okay, at some point it becomes an enormous failing and a fire-able offense.

Because QB’s on giant contracts don’t get  two $20M WR. Davis showed a lot of promise, they were right to give him a shot.

I still think Davis can be a very productive with a change in offensive philosophy, QB decision making, and OL upgrades.

I’ll say it for the 100th time, if the solution for the offense with a $40M QB is 2 x $20M WR’s, you don’t have a WR problem. And I don’t think we have a problem at QB.

That said, I have no issue with grabbing a WR in the top 100 on a relatively regular basis.

Gabe showed a lot of promise in 2021 playoffs, so everyone thought we had a bonafide #2 on the roster. It wasn;t till mid season 2022 that we started to realize Gabe wasn't progressing from how he left 2021

So I wouldn't have been looking for a "stud WR" at that point either. In fact we were looking for a speed burner or a slot WR last season not a bonafide 1b as I would call it.

Beane gets a pass on not bringing in a bonafide 1b before 2022.

Although I though he short armed the #2 TE position last offseason and we still could use an upgrade there.

He tried with OJ Howard, I think most of us thought it was a good idea until we saw it in person. You can't hit on everything, that said I agree TE #2 a big time need this offseason.

I'm starting to think the Hopkins trade, and maybe a trade for Jerry Jeudy, will go through on draft weekend. There's no good reason for any team to rush it so might as well see what's on the board before trading the pick. I'm sure the parameters will already be worked out ahead of time, it just won't be official until the last second.

@Alphadawg7

still nothing to report. the same 17 tweets have been reposted 49 times.

Hmmmm 17 tweets 49 times.  Could this be a clue?

17 clearly points at Josh Allen who is still here but 49 points at Edmunds who is gone.  Allen had a connection to Edmunds as they came in together and reportedly were friends.  Allen would have a connection to Hopkins as WR/QB.  So to complete the triangle there needs to be a connection between Edmunds and Hopkins.  Could it be the hair?  I think it’s the hair.

Chase and Higgins. Kelce and Hill. They have to be 20m guys NOW, because we didn't focus on offense while the teams we are chasing did. We thought a DL rotation would bring a ring. Now we should pay for that error

I guess you’re saying these players are worth $20m because Only Hill is making $20m and that’s after leaving KC. Kelce made $10m last year. Chase is on a rookie contract still and Higgins made $1.4m last year. Point being it’s almost impossible to PAY two wrs $20m each. Ain’t happening.

Isn't part of the allure the idea that if Arizona eats some of this years salary, that this year would be 10-15M. with next year being 14.9M?

I don't see why we'd trade for him and then restructure his contract to pay him more.

Ummm soooo....

Chase, Higgins, nor Kelce make anything close to that, at least in cap dollars. And once it comes time to pay Chase/Higgins CIN won't keep both. And when the bill came due for Hill they shipped him off. On top of that, Kelce has cost more than $10M just 3 times in his career to date and that hit came in 2018, 2019, and 2020. All of which were around $10-11M. Even with that low number, KC still moved on from Hill in favor of allocating cap dollars elsewhere and relying on rookies/young WR.

QB's who command high value contracts do not have multiple high value WR. They just don't. When you make huge money playing behind center part of the deal is doing more with less. That is not a criticism of Allen, it is just part of the responsibility of the contract. And as you unintentionally pointed out, half of those receivers will not be staying on the same pay roll as their very expensive QB's and other expensive counterparts.

Go ahead and draft some guys. Do it regularly. Criticize Beane for not doing it. That is fine.

But pounding the table that the only solution to the offense is to spend $80M+ on 2 WR and a QB is insane. If that is what it takes for your offense to run effectively at least one of those guys is way over paid.
