Unforgiven
Ran across this doozy of a story - yahoo.com, lol https://www.yahoo.com/news/why-is-joe-biden-so-unpopular-170442363.html Why is Joe Biden so unpopular? At this point in his term — about 910 days in — Joe Biden is the second-most unpopular president in modern U.S. history. As of July 18, Biden’s average job-approval rating, according to the poll aggregators at FiveThirtyEight, is a paltry 39.1%; his average disapproval rating is 55.4%. That means his “net approval rating” is -16.3%, which is well “underwater,” as pollsters like to say. Negative 16.3% is also really bad historically speaking. In fact, the only president with weaker numbers than Biden was Jimmy Carter, who hit -28.6% on Day 910. At the time, just 29% of Americans approved of Carter’s performance on average, while 57.6% disapproved. yet according to the author of this post he's good? lol talk about out of touch and delusional, just like the author of this yahoo opinion puff piece making endless excuses for ol joe. 1

"unpopular" and "good" are not the same thing. Gallup just did a survey - how do people today view the presidents from JFK onward? - JFK is the most popular (90% approval). - Nixon is still the most unpopular - Trump is unchanged. Still about -10 - Every other president has higher approval ratings today than he had while in office. What does it mean? Well, probably a major nostalgia factor. But also that it's not a good idea to base an assessment of whether a president is doing a good job overall on his in-office popularity.

We're just starting to get an inkling of the panic that will set in among Republicans if we avoid recession prior to the election. Right now the markets are pricing in about a 60% chance of a recession in late 2023/first half 2024. Which means a 40% chance of the Biden wet dream (not that those are happening anymore, at least I hope not) of a "soft landing." And consumer confidence is trending strongly in the right direction. https://apnews.com/article/economy-consumer-confidence-inflation-interest-rates-567ac06e3d904967ab76b429ca777b00 Bidenomics!

No, but we had runaway inflation that hadn't really been tamed by the time of the election. Guess what? It's been tamed well over a year before the 2024 election. You are proving my point: the beginnings of panic at the thought that the economic numbers/situation may actually be good come Fall 2024. 3 minutes ago, Big Blitz said: Republicans in 2022: "the Fed just keeps printing money! Is it always Republicans vs Democrats, left vs right, with you? Is it never what's best for the country? Seems like every criticism of the Democratic party policies is followed by "well the republicans did this or that". And yes I know the same things happen on the other side of it too. As far as inflation being tamed? Go to the gas station or grocery store and report back.
