Any word on how Cook has looked? More specifically running the ball? I’m assuming the pass catching option this is a borderline given. I want to know if this guy can turn into the whole deal here

Training camp won’t answer that question for you. Patience

Cool glad to hear you are still on the Williams > Saffold take.  i think thats laughable.  The league needs OL and he couldnt get signed before TC.  he could def still be signed which if he doesnt wouldnt that be embarrasing for your take.

Considering position flex and overall play at both T and G, i think Quessenberry > Williams.  Williams has shown what he is, an unathletic player who is cereberal enough to give good RT (only) play for periods, but his guard play leaves a lot to be desired.  Just to hammer this home you are saying a pro bowl guard (not the best metric but def something) is arguably worse than an OL with flexibility that hasnt been able to find a team before TC.

He just found a team.  The worst team in the league paid him 1 year 700k 😃

The biggest key to then getting out of the AFC more than anything else is maintaining an offense that can continue to rack up points and keep Allen upright IMO.

They had that in 2020 and 2021.

Oh man.  This thread = every other thread. Badol and Scott saying the same exact thing they’ve said in every other thread since the draft ended and we didn’t draft a WR or an OL in the first few rounds.

the never ending debate.  Agree to disagree?  No….. just type the same things….. over and over and over and over and yeah…. Over and over. What a colossal waste of time.

Beane got hosed with that Quessenberry contract…

We should sign Jason Peters because like you said....we should get younger on the offensive line.

Yea… if you have gripes with their defensive heavy approach the apologist rebuttal is… “why do you hate signing Von Miller?” 😅

The biggest key to the bengals defeating the Chiefs and reaching the SB was their defense shutting down the chiefs offense.  You can harp on the 3 punts that we had vs the chiefs as the reason we lost…..but not being able to stop them was more the reason.  The bengals held them to 24 points, we gave up 42.  The bengals D held them to 30% less passing yards.  They had 2 interceptions to our 0 and had 4 sacks to our 2.  But yeah….,it’s only about the offense.

At 64 years old, I’m 6’ 4” I go in at 200lbs  , and like you I was slim, 175lbs until I was forty ish and got married… the Mrs was a three meal a day girl back then, I wasn’t, only ate when I was hungry, long term bachelor back then,  now we eat one or two meals a day and eat generally healthy stuff in small quantities in between if we feel like it,  imo if you aren’t being really active there is no reason to eat three traditional meals a day, our bodies haven’t even processed the calories from breakfast yet when we are eating lunch at mid day, let alone eating dinner five hours after that, its no wonder its hard to not get overweight in a country that advertises food 24/7/365, I’m a bit odd maybe, for my eating style. We shifted our lifestyle,  We sold our house and almost all of our belongings and moved onto our sailboat in 2018, (a 1977 Bristol 29.9 hull #17) we sail to the Bahamas every winter, and back again to Connecticut for the summers, it’s a fairly active life style, good adventures, keeps both of us slim, although it’s not always easy to watch the Bills when we are out in the Atlantic Ocean on a small lightly populated island, lol, life is full of comprises…,

Go Bills!!!

I kind of eat the same way as you do.  I don't do the 3 meals a day thing and just kind of eat when I am hungry.  We really only eat one typical meal a day either breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending on how we feel like.  The rest of the day is just something small like a ham sandwich or something.

That is so awesome that you guys are living on your sailboat.  I'm not a sailor but I have always wanted a boat.  Have often thought about selling the house and everything and just being free in either a boat or an RV.  We have animals though and that would probably be too crowded right now.  Maybe someday.

Why do we argue w/ Scott and Badol? They are never satisfied and love to second guess every move. Let them be. It's better not to feed them

I can understand some posters being a little concerned for the OL, and/or would have preferred other players to have been brought in than who the Bills did...everyone has their opinion.

But...it seems a little disingenuous to say that the Bills have ignored the offense.

2022*

offensive players acquired via draft or FA: 14

defensive players acquired via draft or FA: 11

2021*

offensive players acquired via draft or FA: 14

defensive players acquired via draft or free agency: 10

(*Doesn't include undrafted free agents)

So over the last two years, we have brought in 28 offensive players and 21 defensive players. They may not be the guys or positions or draft status that some want, but they absolutely have not ignored the offense.

And I agree with others, that the defense needed more help than the offense. A huge part of the KC game ending was due to the fact that our defensive line was gassed and weren't athletic enough to chase around/pressure Mahomes by the end of the game. The Tenn, IND, NE games were due to our not being able to stop the run (top backs, etc.). Sure, the offense stumbled during the season too (Jax for one), but by the end of the season, they were either the best or second best offense in the league...and not just by stats (like our #1 defense). I think the revamped DL is going to make a HUGE impact on this season. More so than an OG or rookie wideout would have, etc. JMO

It was a big decision to make the change, and wasn’t done lightly, lots of research and planning went into it, but in the end it has worked out well, it dropped our overhead costs a lot, and we haven’t had an electric bill since we set sail, solar panels on the Bimini top👍, not that there aren’t expenses, we did do a lot of re-fit work on the boat to get her ready to go, and the normal maintenance costs that a sailboat with a Diesel engine requires, so it’s not free sadly 😁. My wife has been doing a blog since we started, with all the adventures and the work we have done, it’s fun to look back on how inexperienced we were initially, we get a laugh over our blunders along the way😁👍

I literally said the opposite.........you are trying to create a ridiculously false narrative that people who think they invested too many available dollars and draft picks on defense are saying that signing Von Miller meant they couldn't have used any other money or even somehow more top draft picks......on the offensive side of the ball.

And as usual from most of our resident bickering idiots.........you have no numbers or statistics to support your claim whatsoever.

You even claim the offense was ahead of the defense last year when the defense finished 1st in the NFL and the OL was one of the leagues WORST(29th in pressures allowed) and they had bad offensive games almost randomly against the worst or the best teams.

I mean.......WTF.........how absurd can it get on TSW?

The reality is that the Von Miller cap hit was around $5M for 2022...........which is a couple million less than just the combined hit for rotational DT's Daquan Jones and Jordan Phillips.

Von Miller didn't eat up all of the Bills cap space so I don't even know where this vague assumption that every other investment on defense aside from Von Miller was irrelevant to the caponomics of the roster this year comes from.

Why do you point out the defense was ranked #1 and then dont mention how the offense was ALSO number 1 and number 1 for 2 consecutive seasons?  Instead when talking offense you want to point out a specific unit instead while not doing the same for the defense.  I didn't make anything up, I simply pointed out that its a FACT our defense has not been on the same level as our offense.

We averaged 41.5 points per game in the playoffs.  Josh accounted for over 800 yards and 9 TD's in 2 games.  Our RB averaged 4.8 YPC.  But what about our defense...oh yeah, they gave 42 points including 17 points in the final minutes of the game to send us home.  So for a team with such a bad offensive line as you put it (which was not an accurate portrayal of the OL after Bates stabilized the line and we also started running the ball), we sure didn't seem to have any trouble scoring points, throwing the ball, or running the ball.

BUT our front sevens inability to get to Mahomes sure as heck helped send us home.  Our defense surrendering 42 points sure helped send us home.  No one with any common sense what so ever blames our offense for not advancing past the Chiefs.  Literally no one.

Never said defense doesn’t matter… they’ve just dumped a whole ***** ton of resources into the defense at the expense of the offense. The Bills almost missed out on even making the playoffs mostly due to some real ***** offensive performances and ***** offensive line play….and the sustained success of this team relies upon keeping Josh and the offense ticking and it’s tough to keep that offensive cupboard stacked when your investing much of your cap space and high draft picks into the defense.

All that said, we can agree to disagree.😉

And no tackle gave up more sacks than Quessenberry.

you said “The biggest key to then getting out of the AFC more than anything else is maintaining an offense that can continue to rack up points and keep Allen upright”

meanwhile….the Rams won the super bowl last year…..while holding their opponents to 11, 27, 17 and 20

the bengals made it to the super bowl while holding their opponents to 19, 16, 24.

There are several ways to win the SB.  Offense isn’t the only way. Agree to disagree.

They won't listen.

If the Bills Offense can repeat last year's performance and the DL can apply some QB pressure and hold the Henry's of the league to reasonable

yardage they will have the formula for a Superbowl run.

Agreed.  Just stay healthy and let Josh rip in the playoffs

Yep.  D is still important and especially in the playoffs.  Sure, you need a potent offense but come on, they can't bank on scoring constantly.

One extra stop let's say by a Mahomes sack on 3rd down and the Bills go back to Orchard Park for the AFCCG.

They have to get QB sacks and force quicker throws.  What's funny they both were saying that last year.
