Impact of Dobbs and Abortion Laws

The thing that is so frustrating about these conversations is that to forced birth crowd just resorts to strawmen arguments as opposed to actually advocating for things that would fix the problem they proclaim to care about.

It's how you know they don't really care and stopping abortions isn't really the goal.

I'm starting to think you are dense.

I advocate for taking it much more seriously.

I take this issue VERY seriously.

My wife has a condition that increases the likelihood of a miscarriage. Before she was diagnosed, she had had five miscarriages.

And now, in states enacting GOP abortion laws, we are seeing women experiencing miscarriages sent home until they are so sick their life can be considered to be in danger and only then will they be treated. If such a law were to be passed nationally, we would likely have to stop trying to start a family. If you doubt this, try reading the 80+ cases linked at the start of this thread.

All of this, because the GOP does not care about actually stopping abortions. Because the GOP cannot or will not look at the root causes of abortions and will instead pass poorly worded laws that legislate medical treatment that they do not understand, endangering women's lives.

If YOU took this seriously, you would look at what ACTUALLY drives elective abortions and I bet you and I could come to agreement on policies to prevent them.

But you are unserious, uneducated, and oblivious to the consequences of the half-baked policies you advocate for.

Sh1ts expensive. Make abortions expensive

De-incentivize them

Not what I asked, and that does not answer the question. You're telling me how you would make abortion prohibitive. It doesn't matter how you make it prohibitive, but once you do, are you willing to help pay for the result through entitlements?

We are already paying exorbitant amounts of money we don't have, so sure.

Yes

Fully willing

Exactly wrong.

If someone behaves in a manner contradictory their own professed and expressed belief, that is hypocritical.

Someone else's religious views don't enter into it.

Wrong. The doctrine is the doctrine, regardless of who follows it. In terms of Catholicism, she’s not devout. She may have simply mislabeled herself or perhaps is confused as to what it means. However, she’s not what she claimed to be or described herself as. I am not religious and I never claim to be, but why say you’re a devout Catholic if you’re not ?

Selective enforcement. . . . . . . . . . a common sign of the Left.

The Justice Department has been targeting pro-life activists through the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act as a response to the overturn of Roe v. Wade, according to Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta.

Gupta delivered remarks at the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division’s 65th Anniversary earlier this month. The associate attorney general described the overturn of Roe v. Wade as a “devastating blow to women throughout the country” that took away “the constitutional right to abortion” and increased “the urgency” of the DOJ’s work—including the “enforcement of the FACE Act, to ensure continued lawful access to reproductive services.”

She did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Daily Signal.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division enforces the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which “prohibits threats of force, obstruction and property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services.”

It protects BOTH pro-life pregnancy centers and abortion clinics, as a DOJ official noted to Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, last week.

At least 98 Catholic churches and 77 pregnancy resource centers and other pro-life organizations have been attacked since May, but the DOJ has apparently not charged a single person in connection with these attacks. Meanwhile, the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division has charged 26 pro-life individuals with FACE Act violations this year.

The DOJ has not responded to The Daily Signal’s requests for comment on this point.

Pregnancy resource centers are typically run by pro-life women who seek to offer expectant mothers alternatives to abortion. Such centers provide diapers, baby clothes, and resources for both mothers and fathers, empowering them to care for their child, overcome addictions, build community, and find jobs.

Conservatives complain abortion bans not enforced, want jail time for pill ‘trafficking’

Many antiabortion advocates fear that the growing availability of illegal abortion pills has undercut their landmark Supreme Court victory overturning Roe v. Wade. Now they are grasping for new ways to crack down on those breaking the law.

By Caroline Kitchener

https://www.washingtonpost.com/

The largest antiabortion organization in Texas has created a team of advocates assigned to investigate citizens who might be distributing abortion pills illegally.

Students for Life of America, a leading national antiabortion group, is making plans to systematically test the water Erin Brockovich-style in several large U.S. cities, searching for contaminants they say result from medication abortion.

And Republican lawmakers in Texas are preparing to introduce legislation that would require internet providers to block abortion pill websites in the same way they can censor child pornography.

Nearly six months since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, triggering abortion bans in more than a dozen states, many antiabortion advocates fear that the growing availability of illegal abortion pills has undercut their landmark victory. Now they are grasping for new ways to crack down on those breaking the law.

Antiabortion advocates had hoped the June decision would significantly decrease the number of abortions in the United States. But abortion rights activists have ramped up efforts to funnel abortion pills — a two-step regimen of mifepristone and misoprostol that is widely regarded as safe — into states with strict new bans, working with rapidly expanding international suppliers as well as U.S.-based distributors to meet demand.

Black Democrat State Representative Blasts 'Systemically Racist Abortion Industry' in Powerful Rebuff

By Mike Miller

Oh, this is a gonna be a problem.

A black Democrat woman (I’m not a biologist but I’m calling it, nonetheless), blistering the baby-killing business is bad enough— in the eyes of the left, that is. But then, calling abortion “racist,” which is disproportionately true? Totally unacceptable, to say the least.

And that’s just for starters. Connecticut State Representative Treneé McGee told thousands of pro-life activists at the March for Life rally on Friday that black women of the pro-life movement are actively exposing the “systemically racist abortion industry.”

And that’s just for starters. Connecticut State Representative Treneé McGee told thousands of pro-life activists at the March for Life rally on Friday that black women of the pro-life movement are actively exposing the “systemically racist abortion industry.”

As reported by the Tennessee Star, McGee, one of 14 Connecticut state House Democrats – among them, 10 people of color – who voted against an April bill to further expand abortion rights in the state, fired up the crowd in an address that bluntly accused the abortion industry and Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, of racism.

Needless to say, racist or not, Planned Parenthood gleefully continues Sanger’s mission.

As McGee rose to speak against the bill, she recalled numerous conversations she’d had with black girls about abortion over the years.

Quote

They were taught about abortion as a birth control method. They were taught that at any point in time, when they were 13 or 12 or 15, that  they could go to a Planned Parenthood and receive an abortion without their parents knowing.

Powerful? It got even better — with facts:

Quote

I want to speak to the history of this industry and why I think it’s destructive to my community. Black women make up 14 percent of child-bearing populations yet obtained 36.2 percent of all reported abortions. Black women have the highest abortion ratio in the country – 474 abortions per 1,000 live births.

Think about that: a Democrat debating other Democrats with facts. Damn. I mean Democrats loathe facts, data, history, logic, and comment sense that flies in the face of their concocted narratives, right?

Barack Obama emphasizes the importance of preserving abortion ‘for generations to come’

For the first time in 50 years, pro-abortion activists watched the March for Life and feared that their longtime grip on the national abortion narrative might be loosening. Few things terrify the more than the prospect of more babies being born, particularly minority babies.

That’s what makes it so weird — although not surprising — to see former President Barack Obama going to bat so hard for preserving the “right” to abort more black babies. And that’s effectively what he did here:

Ever since Roe was overturned (we so love writing those words), we have watched as pro-aborts, media, Democrats, the Left (etc) lied over and over again about how this decision will LITERALLY KILL WOMEN because of ectopic pregnancies and women being kept like CATTLE in evil red states.

DA DA DAAAA!

Yeah, they’re disgusting, gross lies but what else would we expect from a bunch of people who would exploit miscarriages to push abortion?

PoliMath, a longtime Twitchy favorite and one smart cat, shared this very powerful and sad thread about his friend that debunks these nasty lies about red states.

Seems like someone here was pushing this lie last summer,  I can't remember who though.

That's the rhetoric that will hold the "pro-life" sheep in line.

And Margaret Sanger was a birth control advocate who was arrested for saying women had a right to birth control

Sanger was a Eugenics supporter.  was on record a LOT.

To a point, her main focus by far was birth control. She went to jail fighting for that, not eugenics
