T&C
Living just outside of Tampa I want these mofo's to go down in the first round so... go Leafs. Kind of think that the Panthers will win the cup but that is awhile away, I was really hoping Tampa had gotten paired up with them for the 1st series but it didn't happen... it was close though. T&C
Haven't seen this many penalties called in the 1/2 of a playoff game ever... everybody is on a power play. Tpa-Tor game. Leafs up 2-0!!

If you heard the two words Champa Bay as much as I do you'd be rooting against the Bucs/Lightning too... sports radio here is basically unlistenable, its nauseating. Never got the hate for the Leafs, I must have missed the memo. Anyone care to explain, I really don't know why. Pulling for the Rangers and the Panthers tonight. snafu
Rangers just had what I think was a good likely game winner called off. The call was goalie interference on a great play by Kakko.

But, here we are heading into ot.

He was cutting to the top of the crease and the defenseman slammed into his back. He never took a straight line to the goalie. Then his play while falling to the ice was a great effort. His right leg went through the middle of the crease and dragged the goalie out of position before the the Dman crashed into his own goalie. I and the NHL disagree with that statement. EDIT: The last replay I watched it looks like the Dman rides Kakko lower in the crease. Its tough because the D can't just let the guy cut in even though hes a half step behind and the attacker has a right to go to the net. I know I hate seeing goals scored due to someone taking the goalie out of the net and you dont want to incentivize players cutting too close to the crease. Its never going to be a perfect or even good system. Edited May 4, 2022 by Jauronimo

Simon
And DeSmith has left the ice in the middle of the 2nd OT (looked like cramps) and the Pens #3 'tender Louis Domingue has stepped on for only his 4th NHL appearance since 2019 and made 14 saves in 10 minutes, a couple of them spectacular. Can't remember the last time I saw one go this long but its probably in the best interest of either team to get it done with 8 minutes, these guys are gassed. Disclaimer: I am a penguins fan. that was an epic game. Those guys have to be spent. For the rangers to lose too, you wonder if it will leave a bad psychological mark for the rest of this series. BillsPride12
That was a hell of a game. I caught the first two OT periods last night but couldn't make it past then but then I was able to catch the 3rd OT on replay this morning. Love NHL Playoffs! Agree. I was fully expecting him to take a bad penalty at some point, causing them to lose. He has a knack for that, especially in games where he struggles. Simon
I know he missed a lot of time earlier but he's been back for a while now so I'm not sure how healthy he really is. That was literally the first NHL game I've watched this year.

Rangers were skating circles around them.

All game, the Crosby line tilted the ice in the Pens’ favor and the Panarin line tilted it for NY. I think the other two lines essentially canceled themselves out although the Rangers’ kid line was a bit more effective. If shots mean anything, and they often don’t, the ‘Guins had both more attempted (by a wide margin) and on goal (by 15). Also, the Rangers had 30 more giveaways in the game, 75 to 45. That doesn’t suggest they were a less tired team. All that said, I agree; the Penguins were fortunate to come out with a win.

The Leafs are one of the biggest if not the biggest rival to the Sabres. Sabres fan first and foremost, born and raised in WNY. However, we didn't have a hockey team until I was 10 so the only hockey we could watch was channel 9 or 11 out of Toronto and that was kind of iffy, messing around with the antenna's a lot. So it was the Leafs who inspired us kids hockey ways... clearing off small ponds or low area's in empty lots so we could play. Our equipment was whatever we could find other than sticks, skates and pucks. Goalie pads were pieces of foam taped to a kids legs, sometimes the actual goal was a big cardboard box, etc. that kind of stuff. We had a blast. Played street hockey in the warm months with the occasional "Car" warning from one of the "goalies". So, I always have a soft spot for the Leafs if it can't be us. And, we play in a really tough division so its not just the ML's who are an obstacle. Go Leafs!

The Draft Lottery is happening Tuesday. Sabres right now are at #9 and Vegas is #16. We have 3 picks in all in the 1st round. Depending on the lottery, the Sabres could end up 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, or 11. If Vegas somehow won the lottery, they have the option of postponing the pick they owe us to next year, but it would be unprotected.
