Ya'll playing with fire with Fitzpatrick. I mean I use to think the #11 was cursed in Buffalo. Then Beasley switched to #11 and was having a great year. Then injuries hit him before he could get 1,000 yards and all the covid mess.

If we sign Fitzpatrick I'm blaming everyone in this thread for Josh Allen getting hurt in 2022.

A few folks have mentioned Andy Dalton.  I like Andy - he's an experienced guy with lots of starting experience and previously got the Bengals to the playoffs many times.  He even got the Bills into the playoffs one year!  He also seems to be a classy guy who would fit with the team culture and be a good mentor.  That said, has anyone watched him play in the last couple of years (Dallas and Chicago)?  Unfortunately, I think his tank is empty.  I'd prefer Fitz, who is also nearing the end of the line, but seems to have a little bit left in the tank.  And if we can get one of the younger, more athetic guys (who can run a lot of what Allen does, albeit not as well as Allen) like Mitch or Mariota, that would likely be the best scenario.

Trent Edwards got hurt in Fitzpatricks 1st season in Buffalo. Fitzpatrick was signed as a backup. Edwards hurt week 6 vs the Jets.

Every time he's been a backup the starter has been hurt. Going back to the Rams and the Bengals. Those were before Buffalo. After Buffalo it continued.

That's true, but my point is that injury isn't how he got the starting job in Buffalo. Every time TE was hurt, he was reinstated as the starter after he healed. Fitz only took over when the new coaching staff realized what Jauron didn't: Fitz was the better of the two.

But my main point is that I'm not superstitious. The "curse immunity" take was just a joke - I was spinning the data in the same way that superstitious people spin data to support their beliefs.

The thing about the Fitz curse is that the starters ahead of him weren't that good.

Part of being not a very good QB is you get hurt a lot.

If you notice, the star QBs seem to know how to avoid serious injuries most of the time. It's part of being a good QB.

Bad QBs hold the ball too long, don't see hits coming, and get smashed because they can't process the field fast enough to get rid of the ball.

This is the pertinent situation.  Josh gets injured and misses time but is back at some point.  I think it’s pretty likely that Fitz would love to come back here and he could help the team remain competitive for a month or two if needed.  What you can’t have is a backup who will 💩 the bed for 6 weeks and pile up a 1-5 record while Josh is healing a broken bone.  If that happens then even going 8–3 in the other games only gets you to 9-8 and no playoffs.  If that backup QB can get the same team to 3-3, then even 7-4 with Allen playing gets you into the playoffs.  8-3 probably gets you the East.  Huge difference.

This. Your backup is a guy who can get you to 2-2 over a four game stretch (or 3-3, but you get my point). Trubisky was ideal this year, but he's likely a goner. Fitz can do that provided the hip injury he had didn't basically end his career. It may have; we just don't know.

You are sighting a previously debunked rumor that started on Reddit. Darnold was #1 for the Bills and Josh was #2 and a more likely option as pretty much everyone thought Darnold would go #1. Giants and Jets both had Darnold 1st too but Giants had Barkley and Chubb 1 and 2 and felt like Barkley was a hall of famer and couldn't be passed up. At the time Beane said he wouldn't get into the draft board but that Josh was one of their top guys. If he was #1 don't you think he would say we got our #1 player on the board? We all praise Beane for being a genius now but he would have gone with Darnold if he was there. The entire NFL would have

You're dead wrong!  It was NEVER debunked.  It was from WGR. It was not a rumor. I have the photograph of their board below.  The original Tweet, produced BEFORE the draft also included the employee's credentials that proved he worked there.  It even has the trade with Denver which has been confirmed by Beane among others.   There were plenty of reports that the Bills wanted Josh before the draft with many mock drafts having us trading up for Josh. Why would Beane ever say who was #1 on their board in public.  All that would be is bragging, something Beane doesn't usually do.  It would also be disrespectful to the guys lower on the board, another thing Beane doesn't do.

I don't think he's going to be available and I know I'll get crucified for this...but bring me Minshew.

Why would you get crucified for that? Minshew is an excellent backup.

It's on Twitter by WGR . It's dated prior to the draft because that was the whole point of the Tweet & what they put on the air.  If you're so interested in being proven wrong, which I'm 100% certain you are, look it up yourself.  I'm not wasting my time because you're ignorant of the facts.  I already attached the photo.

I added Minshew to the poll and removed gabbert.who received no votes.  - poll cuts off at 20 choices. Also exchanged Fromm for Hoyer.
