If Farwell is being strait with us, the calculation is, does Haack's holding ability outweigh his lack of punting ability? His punting hasn't been terrible and I'm not sure it's made a difference at any point this year. The blocked punt vs Steelers was a factor in the outcome of that game. Not 100% his fault of course, but he didn't get that one away quickly enough, gave them a better chance at the block. I think this a fair take. I will be honest, I was screaming Sunday after his 3rd botched punt. It was almost like he allowed the weather conditions to get into his head. He certainly has his shortcomings, but he has been mostly reliable this season. One punt in particular that could (and should) have played a huge role in changing field position was the overtime punt against the Bucs. After going 3-and-out on offense, Haack boomed one to pin the Bucs back deep in their territory. His punting has been terrible. 27th in the NFL in average yards per punt. 25th in forcing fair catches (indiciation of good/high punts). And 23rd in punts downed within the 20. .
