“(Haack) is coming on nicely, as far as punting. He’s been unbelievable for Bass. He is the best caddie, as I call him, in the league as far as he’s an elite holder. That helps Bass be who he is. He’s a big brother to him. And he’s coaching him up and helping him out. He has a great feel for everything. We just love him in the room. I can’t say enough good things about him,” Farwell said.

Notice he didn’t say anything about Hacks punting ability.  I’m continuing my crusade banging the table that we overdraft Azaria

Haack obv had a bad game last week, but can't completely discount conditions.  If Farwell is being strait with us, the calculation is, does Haack's holding ability outweigh his lack of punting ability?  His punting hasn't been terrible and I'm not sure it's made a difference at any point this year.  I think we're more likely to see a game decided by a field goal rather than punting?

The blocked punt vs Steelers was a factor in the outcome of that game.  Not 100% his fault of course, but he didn't get that one away quickly enough, gave them a better chance at the block.

Yeah - they whiffed on that protection though.  The twist came in and was barely touched.

I think this a fair take. I will be honest, I was screaming Sunday after his 3rd botched punt. It was almost like he allowed the weather conditions to get into his head. He certainly has his shortcomings, but he has been mostly reliable this season.

One punt in particular that could (and should) have played a huge role in changing field position was the overtime punt against the Bucs. After going 3-and-out on offense, Haack boomed one to pin the Bucs back deep in their territory. If the defense did a better job there (and, of course, the refs didn't hose us) that punt would be better remembered.

Maybe a knock on Bojo?

I hope not because it wouldn’t make much sense.

Bass is 28 of 32 this year (with Haack) and 28 of 34 last year (with Bojo). Not much difference. I think Bass was near 100% after Week 7 too.

I disagree. His punting has been terrible.

27th in the NFL in average yards per punt. 25th in forcing fair catches (indiciation of good/high punts). And 23rd in punts downed within the 20.

87.5% vs 63.6% is "not much difference"??   Let's just be happy Haack's bad game came against the Jets and not a game where it really influenced the outcome of the game. Hopefully he learned something that will avoid a recurrance.

28 of 34. Typo.
