why would he possibly not want to play for them anymore?

The Texans organization has proven itself to be the worse in the league.

The NFL is going to turn into the NBA now because of this.

I personally don't like that Watson is doing this BUT you have to admit they are ruining this guys career.

They are having to rebuild with no money and no picks.

I'm sure this decision did not come lightly.  He may ruin his career by doing this but staying is evidently too much for him to do nothing.

None of us are privy to what Watson was told when he signed his contract this past fall.

Bills Mafia...we ain't about to let this slide, are we?

Let them hear about it in the comment section.

I hope u didn't just rank Watson over Allen. For your sake.

For my sake?  I think Watson is better or shall i say was better this year than Allen.  I expect with his work ethic and smarts Allen will be better next year.  Watson had similar numbers to Allen on a substantially worse team.  Imagine Allen if he didnt have Diggs & Beasley this year.

Guess he wasn’t a fan of David Culley 😂

I instantly discount anything Stephen A Smith says. He has the worst hot takes I’ve ever seen.

Saying Watson is better then Allen goes to far.

On the other hand really good QB, borderline elite IMO

You just don't see an opportunity like this very often...

Watson is awesome, but he has one big flaw in his game: he takes too many sacks. Over four seasons, he's never had less than an 8.2 percent sack rate (he was 8.3 percent this year). Allen got his to 4.3 this season, which is excellent. He was at 8.0 in 2018 and 7.6 in 2019. Sacks basically kill possessions, and getting sacked once out of every 23 dropbacks vs. once out of ever 12 dropbacks has a huge effect on offensive performance. The yards don't add up to much, but a sack almost always steals a possession from you.  Houston punted 54 times this season and Buffalo punted only 41 times.

Allen was clearly better than Watson in 2020. Clearly. Not even debatable.

Total QBR:

Allen = 82

Watson = 71

Total TDs:

Allen = 46

Watson = 36

Record:

Allen = 15-4

Watson = 4-12

Don't even try and argue with this. Accept it as fact, because it is, and move on.

Exactly. Watson is a fatally flawed QB. Zero pocket presence and Sack machine. His complete lack of pocket presence and feel for the rush, essentially forced Bill OBrien to trade for the game's #1 pure pass-protecting Left Tackle (Tunsil). Obrien knew that Watson needs an elite LT to function.

That's not going to happen. He's gone, and he has the ability to force the trade. He has a ton of value, and the Texans can get a ton for him. Cutting off your nose to spite your face isn't a great strategy, especially in a not-for-long league with a new coach/GM who will be given a grace period because it's a new start.

Are you willing to pay for the signing bonus out of your pocket?

He voluntarily signed a 4 year extension with B.👁️.B. as GM and head coach so cannot claim it is due GM or head coach quality.

What they should be doing is telling him no trade unless he repays back portion of signing bonus - other team certainly does not have cap to do it.

True

Although isn't it reasonable to think If you swaped QB's the numbers and win/loss might be similar?

I'm not really passing judgment one way or the other; I just expect with near certainty that a trade will happen. There's always a way to figure the finances out. The salary cap is a house of mirrors for a reason.

Yes I agree 100%, sounds a lot like Allen but with Allen when he takes a sack, wow he can really take a sack...and Allen fumbles way too much.  Reality is Allen and Watson both have the same affliction, they try to do hero ball too often, Allen really matured on that this year.  Watson attempts too hard to keep plays alive, just like Allen, sometimes they "get away with it" (recall that killer play last season with Watson escaping Siran Neal and Milano from a sack and threw a pass to none other than Taiwn Jones for 34 yards and game winning fg.

What's the problem with putting Watson over Allen? I love Josh but the fact is he's only been elite for one year. Watson has been doing it for a while now. And this season he was great with a terrible team around him. Talk about a competitor. Whatever people think about him demanding a trade, the fact is he was sensational on a really bad team and was still playing his ass off in a meaningless week 17 game, dragging his team up and down the field.

I definitely remember that! Re taking sacks, I remember when Rob Johnson started and was the most sacked qb in the league (indeed, he still holds the record for sack percentage), and then Flutie comes in and gets sacked 4 percent of the time (and the Bills start winning). So often it's on the QB, and they don't get enough blame for it. It's not as if the Bills' o-line is super talented. Allen's decision-making and ability to process quickly drastically improved this season.

Nope.

If Watson was the Bills QB in the Wild Card round, the Bills lose to the Colts, and Watson would have been One and Done.

Yet he beat us last season, hmmmm

I would have given you a skeptical emoticon, but SDS has taken my skepticism away ao I must relent.

The problem is that Josh Allen is simply a better Quarterback than Deshaun Watson. Simple as that. Your excuses don't change that fact. Allen is the better QB. Point blank.

1) Stop giving Watson so much credit for going 4-12. He went 4-12. That's a bad thing, not a good thing.

2) Watson was drafted in 2017. He has 1 career playoff win. Allen was drafted in 2018. He has 2 career playoff wins.

Do you believe in any of these QBs beyond Lawrence? I don't. Someone may pan out, but it's a gamble. Watson is a proven franchise QB.

I think Zach Wilson could be a very good QB in the NFL.

Although, I think he should have stayed at Brigham Young for his senior year..

Just because you say things this way, doesnt make them true. And that's a fact. Point blank. Book it. End of discussion. 🙄

If I'm Atlanta, I'm trying to figure out how to move worlds to get this done. Bonus to us, taking him out of the AFC, and especially the AFC East.

But I dont think they have the resources to compete with the Jets and Dolphins.

What about an Atlanta/SF, Houston trade?

Houston gets: Jimmy G, SF 2021 1st, ATL 2021 1st, 2022 1st

Atlanta gets: Watson

SF gets: Matt Ryan

Everyone wins there.

Houston gets 3 #1s, with 2 this year to build, and Jimmy G

Atlanta gets Watson for 2 1sts and Ryan, who would be out anyway, SF gets Ryan for Jimmy G and a 1st.
