Gase is not the answer, that is a fact. Peyton Manning gave him his legacy and its gone now.

What are your feelings on Joe Douglas? Should he get the boot, or be given a chance to show if he can hire a good HC and conduct another draft?

To be honest, he has made some questionable signings, but i think he is prepping for next year. Get rid of Gase and bring a coach on that is good with Douglas and lets see what we got.

Hey all, most of you dont know me, i am a Jets fan and i have been here for awhile. Gotta say i am very impressed with how your team has improved and been managed. I am definitely jealous, and i know my team is in the crapper, i expected it this season. I hope you end up winning the division and keep the Pats out of the playoffs. Allen has impressed me and i wish Darnold had the right coaching staff around him to keep him at Allens level. This season sucks, but its good to see other teams than the Pats dominating. Go Jets!

Thanks for the post. I'm curious what it was that had you thinking before the season started that the team would be in the crapper? I didn't expect them to be world beaters, but I didn't expect them to be this bad.  Were you suspect of the new OL?

Here’s some common ground...........we should BOTH hope that the Dolphins totally mess up with all those high draft picks next time around!

I really like this idea.  Tennessee must forfeit Vrabel and hire Gase.  That would most definitely learn 'em

I think Vrabel is massively overrated anyway.

Took 'em to the AFC Championship with Tanny at QB.  Can't diss it 'til we done better.

McDermott  was all about "trust the process" and "creating the right culture."  This was a priority seemingly above talent and X's and O's.  This of course made many scoff at the notion but I give you the Bills and the Jets as exhibit A and B as to why it matters.  Tre White opts in and gets extended while CJ Mosley opted out Jamal Adams wanted out.  If a HC can't create positive relationships, build a strong locker room culture that the players buy into and develop young talent, that team is toast.  Maybe the Jets get it right with the next hire.

I would maintain one of the most important things McDermott did to make this happen when he first arrived was get Kyle Williams to buy in. He took one of the most respected guys in the locker room, explained his plan and essentially said "We get there faster if you're in."

You have to wonder how things would have worked out in NJ if Gase sat down with Adams in that regard.

I think you guys are elite, i dont know if you can hang with the Chiefs.

Welcome. Hopefully everyone will keep it civil. Chiefs can be beat but I'm not sure it'll be us, this season.

I, for one, feel for you. We went through 17 years of some of the worst/mediocre football that no fan base should ever suffer through.  We finally have some light here and good times ahead.

Gase is totally incompetent and Chris Johnson is clueless. They are going to ruin Darnold.

At least you have Joe Beningo's epic Monday morning rants lol.

Maybe you'll get lucky when they fire Gase like we did.

I guess the unanswered question to me is whether 1) Darnold really has it 2) if he has it and Gase is smothering it, can he be rescued?

I don’t know if he can be rescued. He’d have to leave the Jets and land in a really nice situation I think. Maybe Indy or San Fran would be nice fits. Somewhere he doesn’t have to play at a super high level immediately and put the offense on his shoulders. I don’t think he can succeed in jersey regardless of what coach they hire next

Well I can. I'm not comparing him to McDermott or anything. And we were all surprised he got to the championship game. Kudos to him for that, but Rex Ryan did that twice.

His teams are mediocre, but generally play tough defense. He's just kind of an old school coach and I find his decision making poor at times.

I think he's an above average coach and that's all. And I fully expect his team to eventually fall behind the rest of the NFL over time. But we'll see.

Before COVID and the opt outs and trades I fully expected the Jets to be improved. I thought they could be an 8-8 or 9-7 team this year.

But I underestimated Gase's ability to screw you over.

I feel for Darnold as I think he is a good QB, just on the wrong coaching staff also with a bad GM.

Unless the GM had his sights set on Trevor Lawrence all along...

Even then, I kinda doubt he will be there making that #1 overall pick next season looking over what he did to this seasons team. The Jets have no defense, no real top talent on offense besides Darnold. You can't get by with one receiver.

I think you guys are screwed as long as Woody's Brother is running that franchise.

Greenie, that’s a very honest and forthright post.  No issues bud and hope you’re team can improve.  I’m not crazy about people that act like they are Bills fans, but are not.  If someone is sincere, and says, hey I’m a Jets fan, but like you’re board, welcome.  That attitude is fair and I’ve said for awhile I feel for Darnold.  I just don’t see him being able to rehab from that dysfunction.  Woody amd company need to rethink how they build a team.  The Pegulas has their mulligan with you’re old coach, Wrex.  They were new owners, naive and thought that was a quick fix.

They did figure it out and then fired Brandon, hired our current administration and coaching and stayed the hell out of the way.  The Johnson brothers need to hire the right coach that Douglas approves and is instrumental, and then let them do their job and stop meddling.  All any owner needs to do is look at the Rooney’s, Maras, Hunt family.  Take a note.  I know the Giants are Ames’s, but historically have been a good ownership group with the Tish family.

FWIW, I’d be asking if the Johnsons if Douglas can work with Bieniemy from KC.  He seems to be an up and comer, amd just let them build a team the right way, give them a five year rope, and understand there will be contract purging and just taking a step back for two forward is the right thing.  Anyway, welcome and hope you are just honest, a true and true Jets fan as that is fine with most of us, and come here with no agenda.  I’d have no argument there.  Ask Icebowl.  He loves his Packers, but also likes us, and is always welcome.

Honestly, bro, Darnold strikes me as breakable.  As opposed to Allen, who even if he got put in a terrible situation, would still be clawing and fighting and spitting blood even when it was time to declench.

I am so impressed with Allen, he came in raw and now he is lighting up the league. To be honest, im jealous.

I’d agree.  I know you mentioned setting him up with talent, but it might be just time to cut you’re losses p, maybe he can learn under a different team (I’ve said already just go to a team with one of the older QB’s and take a step back for a year), and get Lawrence.  I don’t have issues with Miami as it looks like they brought in a lot of good talent, have tons of picks still, a solid coach, and just let them build over time. Tua and Allen could be the next Kelly/Marino.  If Lawrence works out for you, and as I stated hire the right coaching staff, and take you’re time, our whole division gets tougher.  Besides, we all hate the Pats and Can hopefully as a group flame them for the next decade.  Nothing would make me happier than seeing the Cheats go 0-6 for a decade.

Anyway, be straight up and we’re cool for me bud.  Cool avatar btw.

We felt the same way about Wrex, Skeletor, and all the other coaches after Wade.  All of our GM’s and Coaches sucked for two decades.

Too true.  I so clearly remember when we hired Chan Gailey.  We were all talking about who we might get as HC and what he might do.  Was the Chin a possibility?  Who were they talking to?  They hired someone.  Chan Gailey.  WHO?  Such a deflation.

That former been a rough go, I won't lie to you.  I support @SDS decisions but with all the news on pos. covid tests it's a narrow line to walk.
