If Trump loses and refuses to leave

Recommended Posts

Who knew Bernie Sanders had some sense after all?

So many people are very upset today because Donald Trump did not explicitly commit to “a peaceful transferral of power after the election.” Bernie Sanders is outraged, too. But unlike the others, he at least seems to understand that Donald Trump doesn’t actually have the constitutional authority to transfer power in a non-peaceful way when he’s due to leave the White House:

Exactly.

So WHY ARE YOU PRETENDING IT'S A LEGITIMATE CONCERN?

So Bernie Sanders — however inadvertently it may have been — is actually telling the Resistance to slow their rolls just a bit.

It is, however, notable that Bernie Sanders citing the Constitution for the rules when he and so many progressives insist on ignoring what’s actually in the Constitution. Like the stuff about the Senate and SCOTUS confirmations, for example.

Oh well. It’s not really fair for us to expect intellectual consistency. He is Bernie Sanders, after all.

Even the cult members here who scoffed at the possibility are now squarely behind it as a potential movement.

One poster swore up and down he would not back Trump if he tried it. Looking forward to his changed position and pretzel logic.

Nobody needs to concede on election night if it's close.

The constitution and presidential election statutes can handle this. The first key deadline (as in 2000) is the certification/appointment of electors. The "safe harbor" date for states to certify is not until December 8. The electoral college then meets on December 14.

https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF11641

The Republic survived perfectly well with votes being counted and elections certified weeks or (in the early days) months after election day as results were reported just as soon as they could arrive by horse carriage. It will survive this too.

It's been so long, but didn't the Clinton people take W off all the keyboards in the White House when he won? Then of course there's this picture that should end this thread (but it won't):

Obama White House: These Staffers Aren't Looking at Trump | Time

I see three people in that shot who directly contributed to the coup -- and were actively doing so when this picture was taken.

There was no peaceful transition of power in 2016. None at all.

Why were all of the people in the top photo so hateful-looking?  They KNEW they couldn't stay there another four years, right?  Why all the smug, arms-crossed, someone-pissed-in-my-post-tosties faces?

In addition to the other 'thumbs-up' type emogies I've asked for in the past, how about one that is just 'uh-huh', or 'yep'.

Because, "she was never supposed to lose". They had rigged it so she wouldn't -- yet, there they stood. Looking at an electoral miracle while they shifted their plans from election tampering to a palace coup.

Your boyfriend has to be thrilled that you're so prepared.

Always funny when people go with the homosexual stuff when we know who is most likely to head that way.

Why are you assuming Tibs' gender ID?  You got some issues?  Or you just need to defend people who are chirping about rubbing one out to someone's possible death?

Neither reflects particularly well on you but you're not really smart enough for that to matter much.

To wack off. Hello!

Hi?

I mean it doesn't surprise me at all that you'd need to do that/need some kind of assistance because you have to do that chronically.  The likelihood that someone with your characteristics/charm would have a significant other parallels Hillary Clinton's chances of ever being President.

Your first sentence is totally  messed up, you nervous?

Let’s talk jerking off then! No problem. Are you seriously saying married guys dont yank the crank? Lol. Come on, man!

You are right about Hillary, totally wrong about me. But believe, or make up, whatever you care about me. Gay one minute, a hopeless master bating single male the next! Whatever!

The post I replied to assumed gender. It is always a reflection on the person who makes those types of remarks and often betrays their own tortured feelings.

He’s leaving now! This covid thing is serious sh it, he might be a goner

The death rate from covid-19 among people older than 65 is 15%, and something like 80% of the 200+K deaths from Covid-19 are among people over the age of 65.   At 74 and obese, Covid Donnie likely suffers from some common chronic conditions that affect the elderly like hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, COPD, liver disease, etc that make him very vulnerable to coronavirus complications.

...and this is the VERY FIRST TIME you have made a qualifying statement relative to your daily posts of 200k deaths......so 80% of 200 deaths or 160k deaths "are among people over the age of 65" per your quote.....so that leaves 40,000 cases for the rest of the population.....you've cited this only to illustrate Trump is in a higher risk category (obvious why you're hoping so)......you've been exposed.....zero credibility.....

So... old people don't count???      Well, guess what, if you're not old now, you'll get there eventually.

FYI #1: I only heard the stats on Covid-19 and the elderly yesterday when a doctor interviewed on CBS News was discussing why Trump was being taken to Walter Reed.

FYI #2: I don't want Covid Donnie to live on for a decade or so knowing that he lost the 2020 election because of his stupidity and arrogance in handling the coronavirus.

....you're a clown...I never said old people do not count nor did I infer that folks with preexisting conditions don't count......and you're the one who takes the 200K deaths stats hook, line and sinker......devoid of any factoring consideration of the more susceptible elderly or those with preexisting conditions....why?......because your end game is SOLELY political to exemplify your Trump hatred......

I don't think he will refuse to leave. He stands to make tens of millions of dollars from the post Presidency Money Bonanza as all Presidents do.

He can make millions from the TV and book deals and from being the face of a PAC. He can design a ridiculously gaudy Presidential library.

He can finance Don Jr. or Ivanka for President.

He can tweet and opine with absolute abandon. No more handlers.

He can run for mayor of NYC or Governor of Florida.

Worry about Trump on many things but him not leaving the White House is low on the radar IMO. From my perspective, he has more reasons to leave than to stay.

This country is more than Bidenor Trump. If either side should try an attempt at a coup, I would expect the military or whoever is in charge of LE to arrest them on the spot. But I don't think either one would do that.

Biden has no mechanism in place to engineer a coup.

I don't believe the military would intervene if Trump loses and refuses to accept defeat. I think that Republicans would happily allow him to do so. I hope I'm wrong.
