Brady Free Agency speculation: Down to Bucs and... Chargers? Miami?

Brady can’t play anywhere else where they will feed him the defensive play call through his helmet receiver and Belichick can’t afford to bring any new QB into that system without fear of exposure for all these years of exploiting Roger's incompetence. Stakes are too high for both of them. Brady isn’t going anywhere.

Replacing an aging QB "with SB experience" who just had one of his worst output seasons with a younger QB who's recent/"best" season was no better wouldn't make BB cackle for much of the year, I bet.  George Kittles, Deebo Samuel, Emmanuel Sanders and Raheem Mostert aren't walking through that door with Jimmy G...

I mean, Mostert was pretty much a nobody until this year, and Jimmy G had pretty strong passing stats, including a 68% completion percentage and a QB eating over 100. Emmanuel Sanders is like 5 years past being considered a big threat. He's pretty average. Kittle is the real deal, though, and Samuel showed a lot of promise.

Jerry, Jimmy, Arthur, Terry, Kim and the rest are gleefully laughing at "exploiting Roger's incompetence"...although it will likely cost them all another 5 million or so a year when Roger's next contract is negotiated..

Mostert isn't a "nobody" anymore right?

But...NE has none of those guys.  They have Edelman.  Their second best receiver, by far, was a RB.

JG had 27 TDs (and 13 ints): 15 of those TDs came in 4 games.  That's with 4 solid receiving options and 3 good RBs.

Still not buying it. If it did happen I would question that entertainment has now surpassed competition on their importance scale.

If you say white again a certain poster is going to show up and ask for another CMC trade.

Drafting a guy is easier said than done, at least the right guy.  It is easy to draft the wrong guy and have him sit behind Brady for a year or two, then suck the next year.

The Raiders have Carr and the 49ers have Garappolo right now...those are the birds in the hand.  I know they're not world beaters, but you can work with them, you just need a good supporting cast around them.  The 49ers, at least, have that.  Why topple what you have for Brady well past his prime and an additional year or two, max.

Carr gets you no where.  He’s in the Tannehill, Dalton, etc. group.  You might have a drop off for a season but you aren’t winning big with those guys. I think Jimmy G is also in the group but it’s a little early to give up on him yet.

my hope is after next year, we know for sure what group Allen is in.  It’s sucks to be in the Carr group as a fan.  It could be worse but you’re just stuck.

Shannhan is in the top 3 of designing plays.  He takes nobodies at RBs and make them into stars.  Imo, Brady would be an upgrade over Jimmy G in SF.

I disagree that Jimmy G is mediocre. I view him as a quality starter. I don't think he's elite, but I sure don't think he is as bad as people are making him out to be. He'd be an upgrade for a lot of teams.

Including New England. (Ducks for Mr. Weo's incoming fire)

I would honestly hate this trade because I think Jimmy G would make New England a much tougher out both this season, and in the future.

Really, really don't want to see this happen.

There's a whole lot of recency bias in the assessment of Jimmy G; he sucked in the second half of the SB, which means he sucks.

It's a legit question. Jimmy G was a sub 4000 yard passer with under 30 TDs (and a 1:2 INT:TD ratio) on a much better staffed SF Offense than NE has.  Why would he would make NE a tougher out (Bills lost both games this year) than Brady/NE?

This doesn't make sense to me.

NE’s offense was hot garbage around Brady.  Little steroid boy was hurt and is hardly a number 1. Harry was hurt most of the year. Sanu sucked.  Their o line was bad.  Their TEs sucked. Their rbs sucked running.  It was a really bad group and probably the worst in NE in the Brady era.  That’s why they took a chance on crazy AB.

SF is a much better situation offensively.  Any rb in Shanahan’s system does good.  And Kittle, Sanders, and Samuels are so much better than NE’s receivers it’s not even funny.

For starters, sub 4000 yard passer is a bit disingenuous. He was like 22 yards short of that mark on a team that primarily ran the football. He lead the league in 4th quarter comebacks. Yes, he had weapons, but he was also playing on a run first team.

We can talk about weapons, but what about systems? In his 2 starts in 2016 with NEW ENGLAND, he threw for 502 yards, 4 TD's, 0 picks, and a 113 passer rating.

My opinion is that Brady is running on fumes and will continue to deteriorate with every start. Merely an eyeball test analysis. His body wants to stand strong in the pocket and deliver, but his brain is forcing him to tuck as it knows his body can no longer withstand hits. He never had the greatest arm to begin with, and can ill afford to lose any velocity. He's losing velocity with every start.

The Brady of old would have made some of the scrubs he played with look like stars. He's no longer capable of doing this and I don't believe a better supporting cast would make him elite, especially NEXT season.

We'll see what happens. I would love to see him back in NE, but that's just me.

You mean the year where Brady threw 28 tds and 0 ints?  I’m normally with you but I think you’re off here.  Jimmy G is alright but the more he has played, the more he looks average.

And Brady certainly isn’t Brady but I think his group just really sucked last year.  And the son kisser played really well against us in the second game.  Considering we’ve beat him like 2 ever, I will gladly take my chances with Jimmy, who doesn’t even date hot porn creatures.

Citing 2 starts (Brady had 12 and 28 TDs on 2 INTS, 3550 yards) a few years ago is pretty disingenuous.  Those games are meaningless 4 years later anyway.

The point is, given all his weapons at WR, TE, and as you point out RB (not to mention O-line) in SF and his production being what it was, why do you think that he would make NE a bigger threat than Brady?  SF only ran the ball 50 more times than NE.  Even so, NE  passed had to pass a lot more than in SF.  How is JG, who put up his numbers with  a solid receiving corps in SF,  going to reach even "just under 4000" yards looking for Edelman?  Or handing off to poor Sony Michele 250 times a year (for under 1000 yards), while getting pressure he never saw in SF?  These aren't the 2016 patriots.  Nor are they the 2019 49ers.

The fact that nobody in the 49ers front office has categorically denied this rumor is noteworthy.  If the reports that Kyle Shanahan questions Jimmy G's decision making and ceiling are true than I guess it's possible especially given the out in his contract.  The 49ers would be playing with fire though with Brady's age.

Yeah. I get where you're coming from because we've been his B for like 60 years. Part of me still feels like even if Barkley had lead the Bills to a TD in the first game, Brady, after playing like TRASH, would have lead NE right down the field for a TD to beat us with no time left on the clock.

The last time we beat him, we were fortunate in that they ruled Fred X down at the 1, allowing us to run out the clock. I'm convinced he would have not only lead them to a game tying TD, but the Pats would have gone for 2 just for fun.

I just don't think he has any gas left in the tank and it's psychological at this point.

And I'm by no means someone who doesn't respect what he's done or thinks he's a system QB. I consider him the GOAT. But even a GOAT eventually falls off the cliff.

Banana land. He still ends up back with the Pats and everyone knows it.

I feel like Brady and Bill kinda want to break up,  but they don’t really see better options out there for either side, and are probably going to end up getting back together even though are sick of each other because it’s just easier that way.

and Kraft and Edelman are like the drunk buddies who try to convince them they are still in love, etc

They are both terrified of the impact on their respective legacies if the other one wins a SB on their own.   And that's why he's not going anywhere.
