Juice had the fullback weight and more speed than a quick running back.

the only one....

hey you go kids, he hit top speed by his second step

When people put Payton, Smith, Sanders (Campbell?) or anyone not named Jim Brown in front of OJ I want to cry.  Juice was one of a kind, and the only guy that can be legitimately debated as better than JB.  Most of these folks didn't watch him on Sunday's, or won't vote for him because of his tragic fall.  In his day he was not the best running back.  He was the best football player in the NFL.  Period.

OJ was the best RB in NFL history, but he won't be selected for obvious reasons. Bruce and Reggie White also deserve the honor.

If OJ was playing today, he would be absolutely unstoppable against defenses that are geared to stop the pass.  He was also an outstanding receiver during an era in which RBs weren't used much in the passing game.  Again, today he would be unstoppable as a receiving threat out of the backfield--a faster, more elusive Zeke Elliott.

Good highlights, he was an amazing back...but why is Dan Marino playing defense and chasing him at the 0:57 mark?

he's GONE by the second step, the number of men shaken off is always fun to watch

he was the 3rd leg on the 440 yard relay for USC, setting a world record, which still stands as they only race 400m now

i had forgotten how straight he stood up for those runs

welp....

Thurman was an amazingly solid and smart RB with GREAT receiving skills. But definitely not anywhere near the top 12.

As someone old enough to have seen all of these play, my list is similar to others.

Jim Brown

Walter

OJ

Honorable mention. Gale Sayers    damn knee injury

That season when he ran for 1000 yards on one leg was one of the most amazing things ive seen. he was dragging that leg along for the ride.

If he were in the NFL earlier then Cookie woulda gotten consideration. His rookie yr in the AFL he was 27 yrs old

Larry Felser said he was the best football player he ever saw.  I give his opinion a lot of weight.

I'm glad Marion Motley made the top 12.  My Dad would have been happy!

I'm also glad that OJ, Barry and Earl are in the top 12...........Those are the only 3 that I've seen in my lifetime that did things that could not be duplicated.

Bruce would be the other to consider, but c'mon.... Juice is #1.

OJ singlehandedly powered this team for years, got them to the playoffs once

Averaged 91 yards a game in 9 years with the Bills including a 5 year span of 1251, 2003, 1125, 1817, 1503 when seasons were 14 games. Unprecedented!!

The finalists for the NFL All Time Team are being announced and the 22 finalists for the running back position have been named

Glad to see Thurman Thomas listed amongst the finalists and not surprised to see Juice

What do you think?

considering that list Thurm should definitely be on it. Gore should also be on that list. He wasn't used properly by Mike Alstott was one of the most devastating runners ever.
