MUST WATCH TV: David Sills V story on ESPN E:60!!! (On now)

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else just watch that? I don’t know if there is a link out there for it but think that it is absolutely worth watching. I was somewhat familiar with his story but not to the level of depth that it provided. He’s a guy that we should all be excited for and he really has a chance to make the team. It’s a fascinating story.

Amazing watch, HIGHLY recommend watching it if you can.  They even had cameras with him when he chose the Bills after the draft.  It’s a E:60 episode covering a few stories and he is one of them.

Supposed to be airing again right now on ESPN2, but here in LA it’s showing final results of a racing event at this exact moment.

DirecTV guide shows it also airing again tonight at 10pm PST.

Do yourself a favor and record or watch it!

I don’t have ESPN+ but assume if you have that they will also have it on there at some point soon.  Might even be on just the regular ESPN app too where content is free if you have ESPN through your cable or satellite provider.

I have formula 1 right now on ESPN2 but E60 is coming on in about 5 minutes.  I'll need to see if it's on him or not.

IT IS AND ITS STARTING NOW :)

ON ESPN2 - hopefully they show the whole episode as it’s starting 22 minutes late and Sills is the last story.

How did he go un drafted? Kept saying he was the best target in college football.

I get the feeling he’s going to become this years Proehl on TBD. This board is going to fall head over heels in love with this dude.

The big difference is that Sills has been an ultra-productive player. He’s caught a zillion TDs. Sometimes we fall in love with guys because we want them to become good (like those that believed in Peterman). This guy IS actually good.

We shall find out. I do trust your assessment, but I’d never too certain of any UDFA regardless (with that said, I don’t follow college ball much). He may very well turn out to be a good one. I just joke because the dude checks off every box required to become a TBD training camp folk hero.

Rooting for him and it never hurts to have a 6-5 receiver who had 33TDs.

And had never once played WR in his life and just walked on the field and started dominating immediately and throws down 33TDs

Love the section about "receiver legs".   Never heard it called that but it makes perfect sense.

I remember a story Tony Kornheiser told about former Rams WR Tory Holt.   He said he was at a gym working out and Tory Holt happened to be there.   He said Holt got on the treadmill, raised the elevation and ran at a crazy speed for 45 minutes.

I guess that's how you build "receiver legs"!

That's why he isn't Brandon Reilly either. Reilly had like 4 career touchdowns and I think we all liked the idea of Reilly, but it was a mirage. Sills is the real deal. Me and a few others were banging the table for him for the past few months and the last couple of days. The one thing that seems evident is that the dude is going to work his ass off, which is going to great for competition in the receiver room.

He definitely has some TBD hero qualities. The one difference is that he’s caught 33 TDs over the last 2 years (24 games). These are the 1st 2 years of his life that he has ever played WR!! He actually has a chance.

Thanks.  Thanks. Thanks for posting this.  Watch it if you get a chance.

Several reactions.  I remember when he got the scholarship offer.  Didn't know he was the guy.

Kiffen's done a lot of stupid stiff in his career.

Beane and McDermott live smart, and Stills is smart.  They love determination and this guy has it,

He's a good bet to take Zay's roster spot this year or Beasley's in three.

Allen is going to love him, because he is a route runner.  He will always be where he is supposed to be.  And he has quarterback hands.

McBeane live these guys. Smart, determined.  Doesn't quit.

If you haven't seen the ESPN piece, look for it. It's worth it

Thanks to everyone who posted about where we could find it.

Ha we started the same thread at the same time.  Mods should just merge.

But this was a great piece to people who don’t know his story.  Living in LA I was quite familiar with it, and he’s been a guy I both wanted and felt we could take him like I predicted in my other thread.

And just to add, UDFAs come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes a guy like Robert Foster makes it becuase he has immense talent and played on a team with super talent people and could not get on the field. Sometimes they are guys like Fred Jackson who played really inferior competition and people doubt if they can be productive at the NFL level, and he has to work his ass off to prove himself. And sometimes it's Philip Lindsay, a super productive college player who played big time competition and somehow falls through the cracks. Sills is the Lindsay type of UDFA.

No problem, and yes, this kid isn’t camp fodder, he will have a legit shot to make this roster and will be in the thick of the WR competition.

WR battle this camp is going to be one of the funnest to watch on this team, can’t wait!

Thanks for the info, sounds promising., We can use help in the WR room, and it’s a good position to test the UDFA market. I’m not sure there’s a great deal of separation between mid round WR draft picks and the undrafted guys these days.

Wow, his pops was determined.  Hopefully the kid has the same drive.  Does anyone know why he didn't get drafted?

I do t think there is one reason why he didn’t get drafted.  My guess is that teams didn’t think he was as good as the website analysts that had him going rd 4.

i watched the piece and have read a couple stories on him in the past.  While we may be lacking a #1 WR, I think we have good talent 1-6.  I think he has to hope Zay jumps out a window, McKenzie fumbles every play his way or Duke beats someone up. Practice squad

Brown, Foster and Cole are penciled I’m as the first 3.  Zay, Duke, Sills, McKenzie are all battling for 4 and 5 essentially, but all will have a chance to push for cracking that top 3 too.

Roberts will be the 6th as a ST beast.

I’m not guaranteeing anything here, but I wouldn’t over look neither Duke or Sills in this competition.  This is why I still feel Zay is not safe.  He can certainly win the competition still, but it’s not going to be a cake walk IMO and he will have legit competition to him being here.

They have skill sets that the others don’t (great hands, size and big catch radius) that play in their favor too competing against both Zay and McKenzie.  None of the penciled top 3 guys have size either or that big red zone threat.  So I think at least one of them is making this roster, but both also could.
