i was too tired to bother with the details until something obviously was going to happen

i don't have the tech to fully enjoy what they did, but the scenes were at night and whatever...

wished Arya used a face to deceive the WW king though...

Would have been cool to see her with a WW face jumping in..

For real tho. Check out this knife flip...

That is slick as hell.

Think of how many hours of training went into that, between both Williams and Christie.  Those are two dedicated actresses.

Yeah, that's how it should have gone down.  Would have tied-in that whole story line perfectly and given a perfectly reasonable (as far as making fantasy believable goes) explanation as to how she could just make it all the way to the NK without anyone stopping her.

The whole allure of the show/story, is it doesn't fall into that type of age-old storytelling.  The favorite characters don't always prevail, they will get killed or captured (or maimed) if put in a vulnerable position.  Its clear that the show turned away from that a bit after they exceeded the books, especially with their previous trip beyond the wall in Season 7.  We are seeing it go more toward Legolas and Gimli counting their kills.

The fact that you can just hire a faceless man to kill the night king, IMO cheapens and diminishes the threat quite a bit.  The threat we were anticipating since the very first chapter and scene.  They fell from the first battle waged by humans (Hardhome was more of an ambush on civilians).

I wouldnt think it would be a good conclusion that the Night King takes over/decimates Westeros... but I would hope for some more carnage outside of just The Last Hearth and Winterfell before they were snuffed out.

The story's battles, especially when one side is facing numbers, are always resolved using a degree of cunning and out-flanking the opponent.  Moreso the books I think, but what immediately comes to mind is the Whispering Wood, Battle of the Camps, Battle of the Blackwater, Battle at Castle Black I and II, Red Wedding.

I have always thought that humans would end up staging the major decisive battle against the Army of the Dead at Moat Cailin, as it is a pinch-point and tactically makes the most sense.

Yes, but it is a defense from attacks coming from the south, not the north. It might come into play in the next coming episodes, especially to bring Howland Reed into the story to verify Jon's claim.

Wasnt one of her trainings with the group who were capable of moving around WW without being detected? (Trying to remember their name) Much like her stealthiness in the library.

Upon re-watching that final scene, one of the coolest parts I didnt notice during first watch was the cut to one of the WW Generals. You see hios hair blow a bit and he kinda looks over like maybe he heard something but didnt. That was Arya blowing past him in stealth assassin mode.

Although, yes, using a face could have been cool. Just not sure whose human face would have made it easier to get to the NK since they were killing everyone in their way anyways. And her using a WW face would have been cheesy.

I caught that the first time....  wondering what the breeze was from - more of the storm blowing in

Two things .....

Unfortunately Arya didn't have the luxury of cutting off a face

AND the fact that the face that once it was killed it would shatter.

She should have used Max von Sydow’s face.

Anyone ever noticed that we've never seen Tom Brady and the Night King in the same place?!?

More like we've never seen Tom Brady and Loras Tyrell in the same place.

Probably would have messed up Bran's eye-to-eye contact with the NK which was a ploy to keep him distracted until just the right moment.

Also, Arya's training as a face stealer was not only in hand to hand combat but also in moving stealthily - especially in the dark.

Remember when her older girl was chasing her down. Arya enters a dark room and seems cornered... Two assassins enter, one assassin leaves.

What are the odds on who kills Cersei, because we all know she is going down in the end....

Mine are --->   3:1 Jamie....5:1 Tyrion   7:1 Sansa    30:1 Grey Worm  (the slave takes down the empire would be agood story) 50:1 Sam (why not) 70:1 The faceless man   100:1 the field because I think Jon, Arya or the Danearys are all too obvious

Has Arya completed the green eyes? Cersei was on the list. I always thought it would be Arya, but seems too much after killing the night king. Maybe not.

I could also see Cersei not allowing herself to be taken and ending it herself when she’s inevitably against the wall.

Per google search:

Walder Frey and Meryn Trant certainly had brown eyes, and the Waif looked to have blue eyes. Arya has killed dozens of people, including every male member of House Frey in season 7, so it's certainly possible she has already murdered someone with green eyes. But fans are still hopeful that Arya will complete her list.

wasn't the fearsome power of the WW king enough of a ruse for all these years....

I read on a Facebook post that:

1.  While Jon and the dead dragon were facing off, that Jon saw Arya making her way to save Bran, so Jon confronted the dragon and yelled "Go, go, go!!!!" to Arya to draw it's attention from her.

2.  Then Arya whisked passed the WW and you see him notice something and his hair moved.

3.  Then Arya killed the NK.

I didn't catch what Jon was doing in 1 above, while I watched the episode.
