Does he believe it, or does he think fans want to hear this in Buffalo?  Hoping for the latter...I think it's the former.

It's Buffalo, not Patagonia.  Someone show him some film of the offense in the 90s.

He 100% believes it.

You realize it’s called a process cause it’s not a short term fix right?

Problem is Step One of McDermott’s plan is work really hard.

Step Two is always credit the other team for kicking your teeth in.

Step Three is to side step every question after a blow out loss by saying you have to watch the tape before you can comment on anything.

Step Four is to spit out some cliches about doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reasons.

Step Five is to talk down to everyone about complimentary football and how you know where they’re going with every question they ask.

Step Six is don’t sign anyone to help the WR group. Just call up Cam Phillips and demote Rueben Foster.

McDermott - I'd love to score 50 points, that'd allow me to sleep a lot easier. Balance is key, but you want to be able to attack the weakness of the defense. Where we live in Buffalo, you want to be able to be physical and run the football.

Please.  Give me a ***** break with this "in Buffalo," crap.  You play 8 games there and in 6-7 of them, the weather is fine.  That's a Bush League excuse.  And if you want to run the ***** football, then get rid of pass-happy Daboll, you moron.

Green Bay... The frozen tundra throws the ball all over the place

Enough of this Buffalo identity BS

BTW Thurman is having his jersey retired and that offense did ok, even though it was Buffalo

In today's NFL you need to score 35 points and hope your defense makes 2-3 stops

Someone needs to step in and force this front office to either build an offense or get lost.

This supposedly great defense got blasted by a 1-5 team and has been steamrolled far too often. How much more can you add to the defense?

Always looking to improve our process. Our roster of what we inherited versus what we have now, we've come a long way. Still work to do for where we're trying to get to.

What?  They think they have more talent than what they inherited?

When I heard this I wanted to throw my laptop against the wall. He does realize it gets cold and windy in other cities like New England, KC, Chicago, Green Bay, Philly, & etc. They seem to be fine when it comes to passing the ball. As another poster stated, he needs to watch some 90s bills and realize you don’t need to be ground and pound. Because with that philosophy he might as well start packing his house, and update his resume in the next few years.

It's annoying because a) it's demonstrably false and b) it's a fair assumption this is the same line of thinking the Pegulas have based on their first two hires as HC.

Pretty disappointed to hear him say that yet again.

I do know but I also know ther nfl doesn't afford you a lot of time to figure it out. He has another year then he needs to be afraid for his job. Just for kicks, how long are you giving him. 5 yrs? This is a joke and you know it. Unless you can figure out the plan. Dont blame whaley, don't blame Rex. Dont mention clearing cap space. None of that is worth a grain of salt now.  From lat year to this year, what's so improved?

The Lou Saban offense is back.    Remember that year JD HIll in 75 had over 600 yard and 7 tds....Pretty hard to imagine one of our receivers getting 7 tds.    We're not even functioning at the level.   Our offensive isnt bad, its on life support.

10-22: Kyle Williams on WGR (15:01)

Williams - At the end of the day we have to be able to adjust on the fly. We didn't do a good enough job.

Williams - We're not where we wanted to be. We've been on the road a lot. A good portion of our remaining schedule is at home. The only way to get through it is to work your tail off.

Williams - Playing with high emotion. I like that word better than effort. Guys will always be running around doing things, but is that intensity.

Williams - Consistency is a by product of preparation and effort during the week. Never being comfortable where you're at. It's not just going to happen because we did it the week before.

Williams on Derek Anderson - It's not ideal, kinda an unfair deal for him. He comes in to help Josh learn. Josh gets hurt, he has to play a week later.

Williams - Ultimately we all have to be better. Derek did some good things, some things he'd like back.

Williams on playing Brady - He knows a lot of what you're doing. You have to be sound, takes a whole sixty minutes to beat those guys. Not too much chirping or too much talking.

10-22: Sean McDermott on WGR (11:36)

McDermott on Anderson - He was knocking off some rust, but he'll continue to get confident and comfortable.

McDermott on Anderson - He's a pro, he's been around it. He certainly understood that his teammate Nate Peterman wasn't going to be the starter.

McDermott on run/pass ratio - You do what you have to based on what you are offensively and who your opponent is. There's coaches that are trying to score 50 points out there, realistically that's not who we are right now.

McDermott - I'd love to score 50 points, that'd allow me to sleep a lot easier. Balance is key, but you want to be able to attack the weakness of the defense. Where we live in Buffalo, you want to be able to be physical and run the football.

McDermott on Tre White shadowing WRs - We did it with Josh Norman in Carolina. Josh embraced that every week, and that's how I think Tre'Davious has reacted to it.

McDermott on White not shadowing WRs in the slot - Overall we allow our nickel player, Taron Johnson, to stay on the inside. That game is different on the inside.

McDermott on Monday Night Football - Thankful to be home, be in front of our fans. Opportunity for us to grow and get better. Important for young players to stay poised.

Uh, wow.

How exactly did McDermott say the bolded?

Sure flips the Summer narrative from the Peterman homers on its head.

Guess starting Peterman again will solely be the result of injury.

And thank God for that

He's strictly break glass in case of emergency.

I agree, and I don't know why he said 50 points. No NFL team is scoring 50 points a game. But most of them are scoring 30. How about you start there, and we will worry about scoring 50 points a game some other time.....

Williams: "I've Seen a Lot in the Young Guys"

USATSI_11599604.jpg?itok=JQO7M4Fq&c=0384

The Buffalo Bills' 41-9 loss to the Chicago Bears was not enough to deter veteran Kyle Williams from joining WGR Sports Radio 550 for his weekly Monday interview.

Here is some of the best from Williams' conversation with Mike Schopp:

11-5: Kyle Williams on WGR (11:48)

Williams - Seen a lot in the young guys. These guys have gone through some tough situations and have done a good job. I pray they'll only be that much better for going through it.

Williams on next year - This is so hard, it takes so much mentally. It's not something you can be halfway in or halfway out. Don't let my mind wander.

Williams - It's a testament to what turnovers do in the NFL. When they create turnovers and we can't match that.

Williams on fans behind bench - It's an outside voice, outside opinion. Whether they're being positive or negative you have to put it out of your mind.

Williams on Nick Saban (his college coach) - It's been a while. He's off winning national championships. So much respect for him, thankful I had an opportunity to play and learn under him.

Williams on TD celebration - Never thought about it or came up with a plan. What we did last year was totally spur of the moment.

Williams on the Jets - They do a good job getting the running game going and protecting their rookie quarterback.

11-5: Sean McDermott with Schopp & the Bulldog on WGR (12:28)

McDermott on QB in general - It's a big area that needs to play well, regardless of what happens at the other positions, you need your quarterback to play well and play well on a consistent basis.

McDermott - You look at the scores every week, the game last night, Saints-Rams. That's what you gotta do, you have to score to give yourself a chance to win football games.

McDermott - I steal some time with Josh throughout the week. It's an important relationship, the coach and the young 1st round quarterback.

McDermott on Allen - When you combine the scripted plays and the warmups, we count them up and it's about 100. Maybe a little north of that. Trying to mimic what he would throw in a normal practice.

McDermott - Have to make sure our QB has enough time to get the ball down the field.

McDermott - I go to bed thinking about it, wake up thinking about it. Trying to find ways to improve. From amount of reps in practice, to the way we practice, researching things.

McDermott on QB coach - David (Culley) knows the passing game, which really is what embodies the quarterback position. Our offensive coordinator spends a lot of time with our quarterbacks as well.
