Mayans (SOA spinoff) thread

Show starts tonight. Anyone super excited?

Im interested and will watch but I feel it won’t be as good as SOA. However, the ending and the entire final season of SOA was terrible. The 2nd last season wasn’t that good either. Was more of the same old stuff every week. So I’m hoping this show redeems a little.

Expectations for me are quite low.  Young MC prospect trying to find his way through life.  Where have we seen that before?  Television is definitely running out of ideas with this and reboot of Magnum PI.  I liked the original Magnum but you need the balance that John Hillerman brought and the promos do not give much confidence that will happen.  I'd rather reboot Gomer Pyle, USMC or the British Keeping Up Appearances.  Anyhow, if you were ripping on Trump about stereotypes then the Mayans will do very little to alter perceptions.  Sutter got paid and until the show proves otherwise that is what it is all about.

They need to do something besides rehash the same SOA plot devices - otherwise it'll die on the vine.

My hot take is that the main character is a CIA agent.   (as a continuation of the CIA plot line from SOA.)

Was a fan of SOA but probably not gonna watch.

If I hear it’s good I might binge watch to catch up

Pretty much my thoughts

The last two or three seasons of SoA was basically A-Team on motorcycles.  I suspect Mayans will just be Mexican A-Team on motorcycles

SOA  was a filthy show and I'm hoping this isn't as bad.

The show started out good then it just got really stomach churning...and I don’t consider myself a lightweight...i guess I’m just getting old. I forced myself to watch the rest of the series for the simple fact of finishing something i started.

Yeah, not me  after the gay trany porn scene with the mayor I was out. I didn't finish the scene either.

It's not being a lightweight, most don't want to watch that s#!t but they continue to force that depravity upon us just to see how vile we can become.

I hate it when a mysterious power chooses my television station for me -- and there's nothing I can do about it except sit there and WATCH!!!

I won’t give anything away in the episode. But I thought it was pretty good. I’ll watch some more for now.

I heard there was a notable cameo in it?  Maybe I’ll eventually get around too it.  Especially if I hear it ties back to SOA somehow

There was a quick cameo from a SoA person.

I didn't watch it but I did see an ad for a review that had a picture of the SoA cameo and speculated what that cameo means.

Spoiler alert who that was and why I think that character showed up.

The SoA cameo was Gemma.  Gemma is played by Katy Sagal.  Katy Sagal is married to Kurt Sutter.  Sutter has a history of writing his wife into his shows

Has anyone kept up on this show?  Haven’t watched any of it but was curious if it was any good

It's OK. I'll watch it if nothing else is on, but I will not go out of my way to see it.
