Who is Ryan Teller?

Honestly  Penn or Teller would  be better  than Ducasse.

This js what I would like to see tried absent any other signings like brining back Crazy Richie

LT - Dawkins

LG - Teller

C - Groy (has to live with him at this point)

RG - Mills

RT - Newhouse

That puts your best 5 on the field.

Reason I am kicking Mills inside. He does play with power so I am sure he can handle movin inside and anchor fine. He struggles with the space out there at OT. So moving him inside the phone booth should help his Pass Pro.

Newhouse has played pretty decent specially in pass pro so get him at RT.

Why do folks always think OT skills automagically transfer to guard?  That was Marrone's theory with Pears - he was a servicable but marginal RT so let's make him a guard.

He was brutal, and Marrone was brutally wrong.

Doesn't matter what OL they shuffle and new talent brought in.  Juan Castillo had a Ravens line of Eugene Monroe; Osemele; Gradkowski; Yanda; and I forget who the RT was at the time.  He managed to make all of them look like FOOLS.  Complete fools.

Why is it other DLines look freakishly good, Billings was a terror and to be honest what the hell are we paying Star 50 million dollars for he has been completely invisible and there have been more than a few running lanes open in the middle.   I've noticed Harrison Phillips way more than Star he's been one of the most disruptive forces on the Dline this preseason.

Lotulelei is a gap eater not a penetrator.. He's going to be invisible all year long.. It will show up in our run defense stats YPC

but none of that matters if they can pass at will.. so hopefully our pass d has some wrinkles we have not seen

I understand what Star should be doing but what I meant was I did not see him clogging anything, i saw him being pushed around regularly in the first quarter.   You could tell when Dareus was in there eating up blocks (before his contract extention) he could take on a double team and not be moved one inch off the ball.

Darius is an obvious headcase who is still getting into trouble so lets not even bring that into the conversation.

I agree Lotulelei has been a concern......but if I read our stats correctly.. 3.35 ypc 95 yards a game this preseason. I'm not sure how much of that is 1st string 2nd string or 4th string but that's a positive sign for run D

Because it happens ALL over the NFL. So why not slide him in there and See. Typically powerful OTs with feet problems (Mills) can make excellent OGs. See Andy Levitre, La’al Collins, Wynn, Pugh happens all over the league. However will never know if you dont try it.

You do not pay a Gap eater 10M a year.

Well that's a completely different conversation....  However after 2 years we can cut him for cap savings... or cut him next year for a mere $1 million hit according to

https://overthecap.com/player/star-lotulelei/2282/

so its not as horrible as it sounds we can get out early if its that bad

Penn's got the size and the hairdo, might be past his prime though.  Worried about Teller's size, and what a mute would do to the locker room vibe.

I know you can get out of it. You can get out of almost every contract in the NFL. My point though is the evaluation. Why does Beane or McD think a DT that has been non existent since his rookie year worth 10M a year?  When Space eaters could have been had for half that Price and then Bring in a legit Center to replace Eric??

LT - Dawkins of course

LG - Ryan Teller get a player into the position that is not going to get pushed into his QB every other play....Teller has DOMINATED everyone in front of him

C - Groy the best center on the roster

RG - Ugh.....but move Decausse back to RG....not playing well but he did string some solid games together last year

RT - Mills...it says something that we are actually NOT complaining about Mills play....but he sticks

Play this group.....and hope that a OG pops free in cuts maybe a player that is set free because he makes too much due to a younger player coming up behind him but make sure that player is at least decent in pass protection.

Just my thoughts.....

Here's what I would like to see happen to the offensive line tomorrow:

Could a real Doublel Team space eater been had at cheaper ?  I don;'t know whom... but again if the run D is vastly improved from last year then I'm not going to lose sleep over this> its not killing our cap in future years

Excuse me....Wyatt Teller

I watched Teller very closely.  He Held his ground, didn’t get pushed back  and also has a nasty side to him.  Let the kid play!

Teller has had some issues picking up the X's and O's which is why he hasn't had any time with the ones. But if Ducasse or Miller keep playing the way they have, coaching staff won't have a choice but to let Teller get in there just to see how he does.

What was up with Dawkins? I don't recall reading about him being hurt or anything. Were they resting him and just seeing what Newhouse could do at LT?

It was rough. They need to get their sh!t together. I've never really felt great about the Castillo hire but we'll have to see what happens.

At this point put our 5 best out there and pray.

They are obviously experimenting on the OL. They have to be concerned.

Too bad it's not the 1940s or 1950s; they could just designate highly achieving DL as OL players as well.

(ducking now to avoid hubbub and brouhaha.  😁)

The coaches rested a few veteran starters including Dawkins, Shady and Meatball

It is not all about the players. What is Castillo doing to help the team? What about the Pegula's decisions in this? What about the "McBeane's"  collective decisions in this? Total lack of good decision making concerning the O Line. Questionable talent decisions on WR's. They had little choice on Ritchie and Wood, but their FA signings to replace them were pure Bill's history based pocket book choices, not talent based. Letting a pro bowl LT go to get a "maybe" choice at your future QB when you already lost 2/3 of your strong left side of your OL was not the brightest staffing moment. Considering your right side was already pathetic. Although Miller's performance may explain away my doubts about their evaluation about Miller last year that I did not comprehend at that time. I find myself blaming the management and coaching more for expecting more out of individual players than they even have in themselves to offer.  I agree with not putting Allen's future in the hands of this putrid Oline. And giving the two rookies a chance on the OLine, it will not get much worse considering the vets we are starting instead. Only Groy and Dawkins have shown me any glimmer of hope on this collection of mediocrity.  Hey, I'd offer Ritchie  a contract containing his own private  live in Shrink during the season if it would bring him back to play at his best again, LOL.

Not great, but better than what we saw yesterday.   Miller was horrendous.   Ducasse was beat bad by a very talented player on a few occasions.   Groy looked like an absolute fool on one play.  But neither accounted for three penalties and a sack in one half of football.

Sadly, there isnt a lot out there in terms of trade or scrap heap.   They could trade for Warmack who would be an upgrade over Miller, but he is in the same realm as Ducasse when it comes to play.   This way you aren't giving up future picks for players who are sub standard starters like Warmack.

looks like a long season... I'll be hitting a lot of Virginia winery tasting rooms with my wife on Sundays this year it looks like

What we witnessed yesterday with the oline was disturbing. I knew we were weak at OL but I had no idea it was this bad. Better be a lot of 3 step drops this year or someone is getting hurt.

There was no Guard/Center play at all in the 1st half, when Allen was in. That's as far as I've watched for the moment, but I honestly cannot remember, more abysmal interior O-Line play than I saw in that half, going back to Losman's days - and that screams that we have problems.

Groy completely missed a block on the very first series. Miller was a penalty machine and Ducasse was bull rushed straight into Allen. Bodine was being beaten like a drum, and the list could go on and on. Just about every snap, one guy out of the interior O-Line, stuffed up in one way or another. It was a hideous performance, and it never seemed to get any better, even with swapping guys around.

I need to watch the game on DVR.

Who played in place of Dawkins ?  I've read Miller had a bad game , what happened to him with penalties ?

With that OL , Allen would barely have time for 1 read , get rid of the ball or run.

If that game doesn't mess with Allen's confidence nothing will.

I hope Daboll will learn a lot from that game , Castillo is still a mystery to me.

They started Newhouse in place of Dawkins.

I forget what other ones Miller had but I remember a leg whipping penalty on the first play of the drive that instantly killed us. Then next play he got beat and got Josh hit again.

My plan going forward

Draft Trey Adams-LT Washington 6’7 328 in the 1st, draft Dalton’s Risner-C Kansas St 6’5 310 in the 3rd and Daryl Williams from Carolina in FA

Adams-Dawkins-Risner-Teller-Williams

Invest in the OL and protect your Franchise QB

Not bad. I see us making several Oline moves this off season.

Agreed. Many OTs are too tall to be ideal at G. It’s a different build/ body type.
