NFL.com Best LB's of all-time... Cornelius Bennett makes the list!

No way Bennett is 22.  He was very good but I think Brandt somehow thinks he made it into HOF.   He did not.

I forgot how good Demarcus Ware was. I thought he was more DE than LB. But after reading about him he was really dominant at OLB for Dallas.

Can't believe it's been 20 years since Spielman played doesn't seem that long ago.

Ray Lewis should be number one, he was a much better overall LB than Taylor.

Thomas was too much of a pass rushing specialist (and he was fantastic at that) to be regarded #2 best all around LB of all time!

No, Biscuit (not "the" Biscuit) is not in the HOF.

Agree Singletary should be way up there.  Aside from being a great LB, the guy is the personification of "leader", "warrior", and "team before self".

I dream of having a Bills roster filled with Singletary types.

Hopefully Edmunds

With a name like “Ifartalot” I envisioned you to be much younger...

Just my two cents but I'd take Willis, Lewis, or Urlacher over Derrick Thomas or Derrick Brooks on any day that ends in Y.  I'm not trying to argue Darryl Talley onto that list but I think he was a very good LB and in many ways as valuable as Bennet ever was.

PS with the love for pass rushers where is Kevin Greene?

he's on there top 15 I believe

I'm not saying he wasn't a great player but I doubt if another player on that list was EVER taken off the field in such an important game because he was getting manhandled.

I think he's probably third behind Butkus.  Butkus was just such a monster in his time.

I would also put Lewis behind Willie Lanier. Truthfully I think that Lanier was at least as good as Butkus, but that is jmo. Btw, I am glad that Robert Brazile was on the list. Not too many people talk about him but he was a superb lb. I think that he too belongs in or near the top 10.

No Mike Curtis? He was the nastiest guy not named Butkis.  Worthy alone for his shot on a fan running around back in the early 1970's.

Mike Curtis was great. Yes, he absolutely belongs on that list.

No he wasn't.

Agreed and imo it wasn't even a little bit close.

Taylor was in a class by himself.

Luke Kuechly could easily be #1 in a few years if not for concussions...

No !@#$ing way. Keuchly cannot cover in pass pro, he benefits from ignored PI, his run stuffing ability and all that is like Poz. It's always 3 or 4 yards down field.  He's damn good but he's not what people see. He's a top 5 in this league today but not top 5 in the decade.

Ray Lewis not in the top 5 is a crime.  He’s number 2 imo.  Singletary should also be top 10.

Ray Lewis is very familiar with crime and obstruction of it.

I caught that also. No, he is not in the HOF. I honestly don't think Gil researches or has anyone proof read his stuff anymore.

I am sure Gil knows this and it was supposed to be in College Hall of Fame.

The NFL wasn’t all that great tracking tackles until recently. Otherwise, a guy like Cornelius Bennett would have a legitimate shot at the Hall of Fame. According to the NFL.com website, Bennett, who played 14 seasons in the league, mostly with the Buffalo Bills, has zero tackles. A little more digging (thanks Pro Football Reference) saw that he actually made 1,190 tackles in his career, 1,048 of them solo (he had 60 more tackles than Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott). Bennett is also 78th on the all-time sack leaders list with 71.5. He also forced 31 fumbles and had seven interceptions. The longtime Bill went to five Pro Bowls, four straight Super Bowls, was a two-time AFC Defensive Player of the Year and is a member of the NFL’s 1990s all-decade team. He’s in the College Football Hall of Fame (for his outstanding career at Alabama) and we see no reason he shouldn’t be in the NFL version.

That fine a$$ Kuechly posseses must be distracting you from seeing his true skills. Take your eyes off his man meat Boyst, once you overcome the need to view the eye candy every play you'll start noticing how good he is in coverage.:P Never seen anybody shut down Gronk except Kuechly. A great  LBer in coverage, run, and rushing... He's easily tops in the league today and heading for top 5 all time if he can stay healthy
