Philly deadline to get under the cap: Nick Foles

Not what I asked, but no. That's the QB that couldn't even beat the Bengals to get to the Playoffs, remember?

What are your thought on him as a QB? I mean, he's a Super Bowl MVP right?

Your question was pretty unspecific, I was just trying to clarify.

I'd rather have Foles and a rookie.

I don't think the Bills would have moved on from Taylor if they weren't nearly complete certain that they had a veteran replacement.  They weren't going into 2018 with Peterman and a rookie.

The news has been that the Eagles want to move Files and there was a rumor the Bills offered a second.  My first thought when I heard about Taylor was that the Bills needed another pick to sweeten the pot for the Eagles.

Foles has played a lot of good football in the NFL, just not consistently.  If the Bills want him, I have to think the Bills can make him a consistent quality starter.  It also means they can go slow on a rookie QB.  No trade up, just get another quality youngster ti compete with Peterman.  Files would be your guy for 2 or 3 or 8byears, depending in how Files and the youngsters pan out.

In the meantime, the Bills will still have at least three picks in the top 65.

I'm still hoping for Cousins.  There's been no news about him for days now, and the reports that he was down to four teams weren't all that firm.

It's going to be an interesting week.

I could see Foles and  best QB available when our pick rolls around.

Me too and that’s a case of taking 2 nickels instead of a dime. I’d much rather shoot for a top guy.

Maybe you failed to read where I said he'd not prevent us from getting a rookie and I'd still get one.

You want to sacrifice draft capital for Foles that will make it harder to get a top rookie.  Nope!

I'd rather Foles be a draft day trade or no trade at all. I don't want to give up a 2nd for him, what happens if one of the big 4 comes tumbling down the board and we want to move up? 21 + 53 gets us up to 12, I think that's best case scenario for us and very realistic.

Super Bowl MVP = retread.

Tough crowd.

I'd be happy with Foles and don't think that getting him prevents us from moving up for a top rookie.

I'd rather have the regular season mvp. They can keep Foles and send us Wentz.

I have no interest in Foles. Go get a top rookie

That certainly appears to be the plan.

Foles could make sense.  At worst you get a similar level (not style) of play as TT, at best you get a Gannon franchise QB for the next 4-6 years.

He has done it before and under the right circumstances could do it again.

The concerning part has been his consistency and that would be the calculation, which is basically the calculation you make with a high end rookie.

So it's not a matter if he can but will he.

I wouldn't be opposed to gambling on Foles who has proven to be a high  ceiling QB.  It's his consistency that would be the risk.

Maybe an inconsistent 29 year old QB is good enough for you, but I'd like the Bills to have better.

How's 'bout a couple of names who will be better and available?

I'm looking toward the draft for Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield.

You consider them better than Foles right now and believe they will be available for the Bills?

I consider them long term potential solutions and I'm not looking for a right now fix.

Philly has to knock off 9 mill from its cap before 4 pm ET March 14. Can they get there without trading Foles? After losing out in the Tyrod Taylor sweepstakes (felt good saying that), looks like it might come down to the Cardinals as the Bills, main competition.

Dark Horse is the Colts who might move down from no. 3 and use part of the returns to reunite Frank Reich with the SB MVP.

bottomline: I'd offer good odds on a trade for Foles happening the afternoon of March 14.

And that’s why the Eagles are dreaming if they think someone will give them a first for Foles.  They will unload him for a second, plus maybe a fifth or sixth.

Did anyone think they'd get a 1st plus more for Bradford and nobody believed Beane would get anything for Tyrod.  Some team might pony up, but I hope it's not the Bills.

This is correct.  If they want Foles, they can get him with one of their second round picks...just have to be patient.

People want to give uo picks for this.

How does this scream Trade for me

7 games

56.6 Comp %

537 yards

5.3 YPA

5 TDs

2 INTs

5 Sacks

that value was set. A 3rd no higher

That was a unique situation.  Minn had lost their QB just before the season and felt they could contend.  No one is that desperate right now.

Seriously, for me, it comes down to process of elimination on these 3.

1.  Mayfield - least amount of questions and who I like the best

2. Rosen - not sure he is the real deal.  Questions on his heart and two concussions.  The two concussions is a problem even if you like him.  And, I don't like him.

3.  Darnold - interceptions and a USC QB.  The picks is my main concern.

So, final answer,  Mayfield.  If you can trade up for Mayfield do it!  Otherwise sit tight.  IF something falls into the teens we can re evaluate.

I like Mayfield and Foles.

They can afford to be patient and there's the matter of Wentz not being certain to be available when the season starts.

That would be sweet.  Their cap is soo bad, I agree with you.

Mayfield has questions both on field and off. Foles, isn't worth giving up capital that could be required in a move up.  Getting both Foles and a top rated QB for 2018 is highly unlikely.

But, as the OP suggests, the cap situation reduces Eagles’ ability to be patient.
