Vontae a Bill!!

Now let’s hope that Davis can stay healthy.  I REALLY liked Gaines. If resigned, he’s my next jersey.  Love his temperament on the field.  If he doesn’t sign here, I hope he gets paid.....by a team in the NFC.

I don’t think it’ll be huge signings but some mid tier guys

I am hoping for a bunch of veteran signings.........and considering that most of the FA market is red flag talent I would be more than happy for more 1 year deals.

As I said last season..........this team was old and was going to have to stay old in 2018 to remain competitive IMO.

Losing Woods, Z.Brown, Goodwin, Gilmore, Gillislee, Watkins and Dareus was a whole lotta' young/prime age key contributors for an already older team to barf up in one offseason.

Hyde, Poyer, White, Dawkins and Milano was just A START towards replenishing the actual talent level with some youth..........it's going to take at least two more offseasons before this team can really afford to be young IMO.

We have too many holes to fill to worry about comp picks, they would have cut Holmes, Ducasse, Demarco etc after week 10 if comp picks were a top priority. I really hope we can re-sign Gaines but if we can’t, I think this signing means we will go CB relatively early since Davis is 30 (in May) and coming off a season ending injury. CB in rd 2 or 3 or a good FA I bet

They have, at most, 4 potential compensatory free agents that they'll lose: Gaines, Matthews, P. Brown, and then maybe one of Deonte or Henderson.

It's unlikely that they'll sign fewer than 4 CFAs with all of this team's needs, but finding a guy like Davis is a good start.

I'd like another non-compensator guy like Joe Hawley to fill a key need and put them in the running for comp picks, but I'm far more interested in assembling talent

i'll be bummed if they let brown go. i understand if another team gives an outrageous offer but he is right now the leader of that backside and he IS THE LEAGUE'S LEADING TACKLER. if we put two new monsters on the line, our lbs will be just fine. i would keep lorax and play him as end spelling lawson.we can afford that.

You DO know that McBeane is the nickname given to two separate people right? Our GM's name is Beane and our coach's name is McDermott. I feel like I've seen this from several people around here. There was another poster referring to McBeane as "he" and I realized some people might think that's our GM's actual name.

Funny. I don’t recall anyone asking for clarification...

Let’s try stay on topic, thanks Irish...

Vontae will be good if he can stay healthy. Excited to see him in a Bills uni.

FYI. “He” is a pronoun used to refer to a man or boy. It’s a pretty common part of speech....I don’t think anyone thinks that’s his name.

Don't want him.  His play hasn't been good in years.  I assume he won't be here on a 1-2 million dollar deal.  CB is a big money position, that means you draft guys so you have them on rookie deals.  LB and safety are positions you can get in FA because they go cheaper.  People see the name and will think they are getting the 25 year old Davis.

it is possible he will suck .. but he did have the groin injury which restricted him  last couple of years.

Money will be big here. I like Davis and glad he picked the Bills, but it could be a horrible pick up if they are paying him more than 5 million

I can see them signing as many as 5-7 of other teams CFA's total.....the variance depending on if they can get deals done with KW and Preston Brown.

Could see 2-3 on the DL........obviously a DT which will probably be a 3-4 year deal type player cuz the rentals look bad......and I'd like to see Kony Ealy(prove it) and Julius Peppers(pass rush specialist) on one year deals(I know Peppers has no McD connection).........and then there is WR, MLB, RB and I believe a legit reserve vet S who could all be CFA.

Bills sign cornerback Vontae Davis, meaning he likely replaces E.J. Gaines

‘His signing apparently means the Bills will not try to re-sign free agent cornerback E.J. Gaines, a player who is expected to draw some sizable offers when free agency begins March 14. However, it also means the Bills can probably scratch cornerback off their first-round draft needs list as Davis would be a solid complement to Tre’ Davious White.’
