Cousins...and mark my wors now.....all of you.... Cousins will never play qb for buffalo.

Agree, no way we pay elite money for a slightly above average QB.  If I had to take a guess where Cousins winds up, I'd say he stays in Washington; they don't have anyone else waiting in the wings and he's a known quantity.  Funny thing is, Scott McGloughn (ex GM who got fired last spring) wanted to extend Cousins two years ago; Danny and Bruce Allen were waffling over the decision, so it never got done.

If the brass thinks Cousins is the guy - pay him.  If they do not, package whatever draft picks it takes and go get your guy.  That is exactly why they acquired the draft capital.  Don't be foolish and wait for your guy to drop to you or settle for a second tier.  GO GET YOUR GUY.  It's a qb league - without one you have no shot.

All the pending FA QB's have knocks and baggage on them -- throw in Alex Smith, Eli if he's available (37 in January!), anybody on Denver's roster.  Whoever plays QB in 2018, the Bills are not winning the Super Bowl next year.  Other than Cousins, none of these guys project out beyond one or two more years.  I would rather take my chances in the draft.

I salivate for Josh Rosen but I don't think we'll get the chance to take him.  Since the whole draft is a guessing game, and the Bills have a lot of holes, I don't want to trade 4 or 5 picks (= opportunities to guess right on a warm body 4 or 5 times) for one guy who may be hit or miss.  Maybe Mayfield . . . ?

And having said that, I agree it's a QB-driven league and there's no substitute for the right one.

I didnt know that was the story. He plays well when he has weapons at wr and te.

Yeah, I've heard this from several sources over the past year or so.  Granted, they're second hand, but they all seemed to come to the same conclusion.  I live in the area, so by default I hear about Redskin news from both the media, as well as fans who follow the team closely.

Most around here seem to think Cousins is 'ok' and can do a lot worse.  But they also want to see him come up big in important situations; such as week 17 last season where he threw a pick to the Giants DB in the end zone as the Redskins were driving to score and win the game to make the playoffs.  Result of the game was no playoffs for the 'Skins.

Any quarterback in the Christmas wish-list this year?

I'm thinking - realistically here - that maybe Kirk Cousins or Blake Bortles might be the answer for the Bills and they'd probably fit in good with out system we're building.

Thoughts?

Blake Bortles? wow..........and I mean Cousins? Nah I'm not sold on either guy. I'm still not sure about Cousins either, I mean he's always had A LOT of talent around him and great offensive minded coaches. Still comes up short when it matters. I don't think it would be too smart to spend $30mil/yr for a guy who's inconsistent. Unless we're just paying for a guy who can pass for 300yds a game.

No. If the Bills brass think Cousins is the guy - fire them. For incompetence, stupidity and malfeasance. Cousins rep is one of the greatest con jobs in history.

Yet another QB post speculating over a garbage QB (Bortles - don't be fooled by the jags success and thinking he's an NFL qb, he's not) and a guy who we will overpay for what he's worth (Cousins, haven't exactly seen anything spectacular from the Washington offense since he's been there overall, been to the postseason once since he's been on the team? Wasn't due to his play - overpriced average QB). Just sit tight, let the season play out, get through the draft and see this team start to come together.

Ryan Finley QB N.C. State will start flying up the boards.

I expect him him to be a late 1st Early to mid 2nd. I could see the Bills trading back there 2nd first to early second, picking up an additional maybe late 2nd.

Finley is this year's Peterman. imo.

Our QB is not currently in the NFL.  He will be drafted.  Why pay big money for a guy that isn't a sure fire top 5 QB in the NFL?  The answer is, you don't.  No matter what reports or armchair QBs say, there is talent in this year's QB draft.  You can pick apart every single guy and say there are flaws in every guy.  But there is a lot that goes into evaluating a QB including the talent around them and the coaching staff in place.  Also, sometimes the disparity in opponents in college is a lot more than in the NFL.  So yeah....the top guys in the Draft that were all praised last season going into this year might not be getting the same praise, but make no mistake about it......there is a lot of QB talent in this Draft.  The key is weeding through all the flaws (which may be a result of something not in their control) and finding the right guy with the right makeup and the natural talent and ability to take steps forward in the NFL.

So you can go shopping for the NFL retreads all you want, but I'm looking at the Draft and finding my guy there.

Just say NO to hand me down QB's. There is a reason they are available. I want Mason Rudolph.

the one thing I dislike about the nfl is that the draft is after free agency opens. we don't know if we can get a qb at the draft so if we miss out on cousins who do we have?  do we get gut punched and keep tyrod on the roster until after the draft or just sign a guy? cousins is gonna get big money. i project about 43 mil in space with tyrod and lorax cut but keeping glenn for now. that's with only 32 players on the roster and big holes at DT and cb.  dare i say keep tyrod and groom the next qb under him and use the 40 mil to keep some talent and bring in free agents for holes?

Good point.  I heard discussion about this recently where they compared it to the NBA, who have their draft right after the Finals and then free agency begins in early July.  The NFL having their draft in the middle of the free agency period makes little sense.

I risk getting worse before I go with either Sam or Eli. Ultimately the best path would've been keeping Tyrod through '18, but the more I things develop the more that bridge looks to be burning.

the ideal option is cousins. i'd offer 8 years 200 mil all guaranteed at him.  boom. then those first 5 picks all d line and lb. and the remaining 15 mil in efficient free agents.

I think if we go outside the draft for QB the first 5 picks are WR, DL, LB, OL, & QB, not necessarily in that order.
