Exactly. Anybody getting mad about it is a buffoon. It literally has nothing to do with race.

Christ, it's like you have to walk on eggshells when saying anything to anybody because someone is waiting to call you a racist. WTF is wrong with people?

there is certainly some humor in this comment of racism which is a form of social prejudices being made by a guy with polish Dave as his name. Haha

I can't stand all the race talk B.S. Anybody can call me a Polak - I don't get offended. Some people do I guess for whatever reason.

I just can't imagine living my life just waiting for somebody to say anything I could interpret as a joke against being of Polish heritage just so I can get all pissy about it.

What a truly sad life some people live that walk around thinking and expecting that. Sad for them. Life can be so much better if you just choose to make it that way.

I take way too much as a joke, it can be equally bad to be too aloof

No doubt.

To actually offend someone hard core though, you should actually have to talk directly to that person and say "Hey Jack - you are a dumb fkn Polak - Your mom was dumb, your dad was dumber - if you even know who your dad is - and you'll never amount to anything you worthless peace of Pierogi eating crap. Oh.. and you stink. (Then turn your head and spit or something.)

That should do it.

Funny. I always thought it was Polish Dave like polish your furniture or polish one off to porn.

Maybe... but if you just don't care, it really doesn't matter either way.

I'm with the fridge here, I don't care if they kneel.

I don't care about Freddie Gray here in Baltimore either.

But I do enjoy seeing nitwits get all riled up over things I don't care about. :D

Dumb.

1. It's a figure of speech, although technically I think it goes "inmates running the asylum"

2. How horrible of McNair not wanting his employees staging protests on company time on company property. I totally respect the players right to protest anything they want, but do it on your own time in a public place. The teams and networks don't owe anyone that forum.

Figures of speech have meaning - that's why they're figures of speech. If you disregard the extremely poor context of the literal saying, the MEANING of that figure of speech is every bit as bad. It tells you how the owner views the players and the look is very, very bad.

Oh, I don’t know. That’s still pretty vague. You could interpret that so many ways...... :)

Bad example. And why there is such a divide. OJ got off to two equal reasons, his money paid for the dream team, and, that dream team played the race card. He got off because the black jurors believed the white cops could have framed him. Not his money. His money paid for the guys that knew that and did everything they could to get black jurors to believe white cops screw them. And so many black people in LA are willing to believe that because crap has happened to them. It wasn't at all about money. The money paid for smart people to expose the race issue.

So basically you're saying he got off because he had enough money to buy good lawyers that could get him off by whatever means necessary. Would he have had the same success with a public defender? I think that's my point.

Fox did the right thing when they decided to just not show the national anthem. Now, if CBS, NBC, ESPN & NFL Network followed suit, these players would only be seen in the stadiums so less of an impact.

They used to hardly ever show until Trump opened his smart phone.

I said half and half. But if the public defender was smart enough to get a mostly black jury and make Mark Furman look like a racist from his own words then yes, he could have won with a public defender. It's incredible how many black people in LA still think he is innocent. Because they truly believe the cops could do that.

It was a very, very poor choice of expressions, and he butchered it, but I agree that the employees work for the employer. The employers went along for a while, but they are still the employer. What do players want the owners to do? They are not in charge of law enforcement, and player conduct is affecting the business that pays them all.

If you want your views to be known, fine. Everyone is against police brutality and only an idiot thinks racism is the way to go. Duh. Knock yourself out and make the world a better place.......on your own time. NOT while you are representing the owners at your job. If they need to keep them in the locker room and forego the $5.9 mil, that might be the best option.

I know this will offend many, but I believe in doing your job while you’re at work. The boss makes the rules. They played along, now it’s over. Important issues are worth standing up for, but this only creates controversy and and further divisiveness. In no way does it makes the situation better.

I can follow that up to a point... if you missed out on a job, or were hassled by the police, or other such things because of your polish heritage, I would venture youd be a little testier when someone made an offhand comment.

Well, some non black jurors had to agree as well so there is that. This could be debated until forever , but the LA PD really botched the case is what likely had the biggest influence. Not some belief that OJ was framed. That would still be far fetched and not enough doubt to be called " reasonable". His celebrity was huge and probably the biggest factor in why he was given the benefit of the doubt by a jury that wouldn't give it otherwise. It's also quite likely that the black jurors felt OJ was guilty but were giving " payback" to the LAPD for past transgressions.

Unfortunately for the owners, when you are employing people at the greatest in the world at their jobs level, theres something to be said for treating them as partners instead of demanding obedience. This will effect the players to as the cap is a percentage of revenue. If an owner said listen, this is bad for my wallet today and will be bad for yours tomorrow- lets get ahead of it and find a way that you can feel empowered without shrinking the pie the response would be far different

And that is a very real and valid point. I don’t see how taking a knee (at work against your employers wishes) makes it any better. There is a disconnect. Creating discussion is not improving anything. Find something directly productive, or at least don’t do it at work. That’s just me....
