offsides#76FredSmerlas
Do you think it is possible that Brandon Spikes could draw some interest from the Bills? I know he wasn't known to be a great cover guy but I always liked his leadership and toughness. He didn't seem to fit in with Rex's team but he is a FA and I'm sure he could still ball better than some of the guys we have on our roster. jrober38
No thanks. Â He adds nothing to this roster.
dpberr
Spikes would have been a multiple Pro Bowl attendee...if he played in the 80s.
YoloinOhio
I don't think he fits what McD needs in a LB
Captain Murica
He's a 2 down run stopper which is not a fit for our defense.
26CornerBlitz
Not a fit for McDermott's D.

billsbackto81
If Ragland didn't have the speed for McDermott's defense.... ^^^^^^ Â We just traded away a better and younger version of Spikes. Doesn't fit scheme or McD's character needs. Â Would be nice to rock my old 51 Spikes jersey again though. Â I'd sooner bring back Poz if he were available. BuffaloBillsGospel
This defense requires an athletic, coverage type, which I still don't like Preston Brown as the starter since he doesn't fit the mold either, I'm surprised this isn't Hodges job to lose. I fully expect the Bills to draft a replacement for Preston brown in the first 2 rounds next year.

Yeah he fits fine
BillsFan4
IMO Spikes is about as good a fit as Ragland was in this defense. May as well just have kept Ragland then, as he has more upside.

billsfan89
It's weird that Spikes fit somewhat well as an early down LB in Schwartz's system but seemingly Ragland a somewhat similar player didn't look like a fit in the current system. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Spikes if the depth on the roster is lacking or they feel he can be an early down player. But I just don't see it happening. Over 29 years of fanhood
Spikes was a beastly 2 down run stuffing MLB and Ragland a prototypical 3-4 ILB that's yet to show he can play at the NFL level. Â That said, They are trying to get more versatile at lb, not less.
The Crowing Rooster
The defense is not the problem its the offense. So if he can play QB or on the o-line then bring him in. If he can't I have to say no thanks. Edited August 30, 2017 by The Monk
offsides#76FredSmerlas
So you want to bring back an older and slower version of Ragland? I asked a question. I did mention his strengths I liked. There is a reason for this post and I will do a follow up in the coming days.
