Bills GM Brandon Beane 'annoyed' by tanking talk

Based on what?

Because nobody was outraged on Twitter? By the same logic I could say the intense practice the next day was because the players were pissed at the trade.

Right chemistry mix my ass. You don't trade young talented, good players away for UNKNOWN cheap draft picks.

We've seen this before here and it was a total win for the opposing trade partner and a loss for the Bills.

I believe Pegula gave McDermott total autonomy. I also believe Pegula knows absolutely nothing about football. I think they ok'd the decision to move on from Watkins because they don't know any better.

How many owners are experts in football? Other than Richardson, which ones ever played pro football? The CEO of the health care network I work for is an accountant, not a doctor, and he does a great job.

Your seemingly have no idea about leadership functions. Terry made a mistake with Ryan. This time he interviewed more , got a HC that was well regarded by the NFL committee that advises on hires, and got a young well regarded GM that works in synch with the HC. What he needs to do now is let them do their jobs, which is what's happening.

I don't know why this surprises or annoys him. He traded away a better CB & better WR for a lesser WR & a lesser CB along with draft picks. That certainly would fall to "team building" but when you trade away the more talented players you shouldn't be surprised that people think the goal is to win less games that year.

Right-- when you send out talent this year for picks next year, trade back in the draft for a pick next year, and let more substantial FAs walk than you sign to free up space next year.... you are not building the 2017 team. You are building 2018 and hoping not to embarrass in 2017

Yep. The draft picks are supposed to translate into some kind of Super Deal package, which gets one of the elite prospects. But the teams picking highest in the draft will surely be quarterback-starved and probably won't trade down. Depending on how the 2017 season goes the Bills might have one of the next tier of quarterbacks fall to them naturally. The good news? Then they can use all those draft picks to get a new Number One receiver and cornerback.

Truly our dream scenario is someone like luck doesn't get healthy and a team with a franchise qb picks 2-3 and a couple of meh or rookie qbs end up top 5 leaving those teams not picking qb. It's possible but the swap from a .500 type roster to slightly under .500 is purgatory

You have to excuse Scotty. He clings to the fantasy that Pegulas first game was when they bought the Bills. Despite being season ticket holders in the 90s, owning a sports agency and plowing tens of millions of dollars into Penn State program.

Anyone tell Beane we're ANNOYED at him for trading away the most physically talented player on the team? Because, yeah, player of that caliber can just be replaced in the draft, right?

I don't think the Bills are that concerned right now with replacing elite talent at WR.(or having it)

Buffalo runs the football well and we can probably expect more of the same.

McD is a Defensive minded coach.

So when we go elite lets find the next Bruce Smith...

How much was it to pick up the option? They didn't do it. If they wouldn't pay him that what do you think they would pay him? More than the option would have cost? Why would they do that?

In other words you don't know and are making it up.

The problem was EJ is far from average. Still too high a price for drafting any non QB though.

He sure did help out Kyle Orton however.

You mean the wr who stepped on the field day 1 and immediately got injured. Not even Sammy went down that quick. I personally don't care what you call it. Tank or Rebuild. Just build a better team that can replace the Pats once B&B retire.

How about we build a team to beat the Patsies** BEFORE Bill Bellyache retires.

What? Are we running the wishbone this year. If anything coaches say is accurate, we will be passing more this year, not less.

I got a mostly apathetic response from my non-Bills fans when I asked "Can you believe Sammy Watkins got traded??"

Made me realize he's not the household name/ generational talent we all still think he is.

For reference, Brandin Cooks got traded for the #32 overall pick and his stats look waaay better.

Buffalo is not going to abandon what the Bills do best in my humble opinion red.

It could have been one of the determining factors in the Watkins trade IMO.

I think he means more of the same meaning we will continue to run the football well

yup, thanks John

I hope not, but then again we didn't think Marrone would ruin our offense or Rex demolish our defense. From what I hear, they want to pass more and change up the run game. We'll see.

Go BILLS !!

You seriously think that the Patriots success happens with or without Brady?

Maybe not the 5 of 7 Super Bowls. But yes, I think they would still be a very successful team even without Brady. He was a 6th round draft pick. I don't know if he ends up one of the greatest QBs ever without Belichick. Playing in the same offense his entire career is also a big help IMO.

Belichick won 11 games with Matt Cassel! and went 3-1 with Garoppolo and Brisset.

Brady is obviously s big reason for their success but Belichick is easily just as big a reason IMO. Brady isn't the most gifted QB in the NFL. There have been many more talented QBs than Brady in NFL history that never had nearly as much success.

So then QB not really important? It's all about the coach. Or is it all about accumulating draft picks? I guess if Taylor isn't the guy no need to waste an early pick on a QB, just load up on WR and CB. Easy to find a QB in the late rounds.

The idea that people are expressing opposition to the trade because they own Sammy Jerseys is ludicrous.

fyi, my comment about too many people being upset because they own a Sammy jersey was a bit of sarcasm. I was basically saying there are a bunch of idiots here that care way too much for Sammy. Like he's their best friend or something. People take sports way too seriously. Get way too worked up when their favorite player gets cut or traded. It's actually freaking comical to me how much all the idiots get worked up over this. Life sucks. Get a F$&King helmet Edited by mrags
