You're a riot Ballstein! The fact is Elway tried his damnedest to get TT and had to settle on drafting Lynch. And Simien outplayed him to win the starting job. There is no other truth to be told about it

If Elway tried his damndest to get him, he would have offered a much larger contract and just not a little above what the Bills had on the table in 2015.

Maybe there was a limit on how much he could offer Taylor and didn't want to go above it

Every year, teams without a franchise QB or a top 5 pick hope that they have found a gem of a QB who someone else in need has passed on. Even with Dalton, Kaep, Carr and Prescott, the lowest drafted recent QB to get to the playoffs is Russel Wilson.

I could be wrong cuz I'm old and often confused ... but I thought Wilson was drafted in the third, and Brady was drafted in the sixth or something like that.

I suppose you may be right. My point was basically that he was wanted by Elway. And would have been the starter. As it stood, he was forced to draft Lynch, who was not ready to start. If TT was on the Broncos roster, he would have won the starting job over Simien. Imho anyway. That belief leads me to the assumption that TT is a better QB than Simien.

That is my opinion as well. A bottom line number that couldn't be breached. Elway tried, TT signs in Buffalo, forcing Elway to draft Lynch. Very likely scenario imo

I don't think that anyone would debate that (and I like Siemian some). He's just less talented than Tyrod.

That was my only point. I like Simien some too. A very solid backup with ability. Just not on TT's level...which we still have yet to know what exactly that is. Im hoping he takes that next step this year.

Eh, they are on a very similar level. I'd put Taylor ahead of him but it's not by much. Siemen looks much more comfortable throwing the football and obviously Taylor is a much better rusher.

Really? Tyrod throws a much prettier ball...especially deep.

I think Simien deserves a contract similar to Tyrod then, if thats the case?

Simien gets 4 years at 2.3 million. Overall!Tyrod gets 7 million bonus, with 10 mil for '17. Umm....

would love this to happen, but man he would have to take a leap not just a step.

Wentz looked terrible as the season went on.

How do you think Wentz will look in his 7th year?

His numbers have been a bit better than Smith and Tannehill over the last 2 years (better record than Tannehill too). You may pick them but it seems like the majority would disagree: https://twitter.com/ledyardnfldraft/status/885824710457556997

I think that Wentz has a chance to be a good QB but as of today Tyrod is the better player.

W-L are team stats remember.

He's on his rookie deal, so pay isn't much of an indicator of anything other than draft position.

Hopefully better than EJ, Ponder, Locker, Tebow, Russell, Quinn, Manziel, RG, Weeden, Gabbert, Sanchez and Freeman? All of those guys were also first rounders in the last decade. Just because a guy was drafted early doesn't mean that he will ever be good. If I had to guess Wentz will make it and Goff won't but I don't think either is a lock.

I can't keep straight who uses it as a team stat and who puts it on the QB. With Tyrod being 15-14 I don't think that the argument really helps or hurts either side. I threw it in because people will use Alex Smith's record to prop him up. The point was, you can't do that with Tannehill.

That's pretty bold. I think that it's possible but aggressive. None of the 5 were "sure fire" guys. The 2018 guys will grade out better.

I agree none were sure fire.... but you had huge hype over Wentz and Goff and then months of tearing down Watson, Trubisky and Mahomes. That never meshed with what I saw on tape. If anything I liked Watson and Trubisky a little better.

Smith/KC didn't throw a single TD pass to a WR a couple years ago. THAT is a QB stat for the ages! 'nuff said.

Peterman is going to be a long term top end BU in this league. That is his ceiling IMO.

Here is how i see it shaking out

Keeping 3

Starter - TT

BU - Yates

3rd - Peterman

PS - Jones

Keeping 2

Starter - TT

BU - Yates

PS - Peterman

Now here is the kicker. Best chance for Jones to make this roster is if Peterman beats out Yates for the BU spot.

I think that this is true. If Peterman gets to #2 than they may just kick Yates to the curb and PS Cardale. If TT goes down you can just add Yates back.
