That was feeble. Glorifying the drug addict genius and the unrealistic nature of the whole scam lost me after a while. I enjoyed it on some levels, but couldn't tolerate it on a much higher level. I get that. Most TV or film is highly dependent on your particular preferences for suspending disbelief, and that's very subjective (I can't watch most war movies without getting seriously pissed off, for example.) And it did get old after a while - I did say the first four seasons, and I feel it particularly fell off after that. I only went with hour long dramas with continuous storylines, but if I were to include 30 minute shows South Park would be near the top of the list. Dexter didn't make my list despite season 1 & 2 rivaling any show I've seen. But the fall off, particularly in the last two seasons, took it off the list. Similarly, Sons of Anarchy had its moments, but the fall off as well as the extent to which it relied on "torture porn" kept it out of the top tier for me. The Sopranos gets a lot of credit for blazing the trail, and it was a good show, but having watched the full series for the first time last year I didn't think it lived up to the hype. I'm in agreement with this. I watched the first 2 seasons of The Sopranos, and I stopped watching. The acting and writing was good, but to me the show wasn't going anywhere. So i just gave up. Sopranos did everything you said earlier in this thread, it ushered in the "golden age of television". Breaking Bad does not exist without the Sopranos. Hell, half the shows on most of the lists in this thread wouldn't exist without the Sopranos. It's mark on history is indelible in my opinion. Game of Thrones Law and Order, do all female lawyers look like this? Connections In the late 70's I used to say this was the best show I have ever seen on Television. It aired on PBS.
