Syracuse Hoops 2016-17

I'm concerned about the coming season, the depth, particularly up front is paper thin. Could be a mediocre season for Central NY fans.

Definitely. We're going to be so reliant on unknown freshman to get minutes. Moyer and Brissett look to be competing for minutes at the 3, with Sidibe and Dolezag holding down the 4? Thompson should be able to man the 5 with Chukwu backing him up. Might be a long season.

For some reason, I have a good feeling about this season. We seem like we have enough offense to compete. Guys like battle and Thompson are going to improve dramatically-- that's pretty much a given. I can also see Frank Howard turning the corner. If they can get that defense back to its elite level, I think they can be competitive.

Word around the campfire is that Moyer has really developed his game. He also spent some time in the weight room. Gained 20-25 pounds I believe. I also believe that Brissett is a highly underrated recruit. I think he contributes at the 3 right away.

As much as I hated the decision, he sure proved us wrong.

I wish him well, but I would put money on the fact that he will be playing in Europe in like 2-3 years.

Stinks that AW3 didn't get drafted.

It depends, if he bulks up enough and plays with more confidence he could be really good, granted those were the two weakest parts of his game.

Also on ESPN they list him at 6'10", I thought he was 6'8"

And White III is such a pure shooter and has size, I figured he would be a second round pick at least

Very happy for Lydon. He made the right decision. Guaranteed contract. Even if he doesn't get 2nd contract, he can go play in Europe and then go back to school with the millions he's earned.

Good for Lydon. Pretty sure Uncle Drew will catch on somewhere. He's too good of a shooter not to.

Cleveland could be a good place for him. They need reliable shooters, if he can D up he might get a good look.

T.Rob? For a second, I had flashbacks of Terrance Roberts and the Mookie watkins lean years at Syracuse!

2 maddeningly inconsistent players. Roberson should have led the team last year and dominated but his effort just was missing on so many occasions. White was a little too passive in many games but wow what a jump shot. I think he has a much better chance to make an impact in the league than even Lydon.

Good get in Bazely. Swider to Nova is at least good for the Big East, and I'm a Xavier guy. We were deep in the mix for both, but still in there for plenty of talent. This years class is maybe the best ever, but work to do for next year. I don't remember seeing 'Cuse in the Elite Eight last year, or half of the last 8 Sweet 16's. :)

Anyone watching Boeheims Army in The Basketball Tournament? Beat a team of D3 players from around Pennsylvania last night by 30 points, but they're playing a much better Iona Alumni team today. 2:30 streaming on WatchESPN/ESPN3.

Devendorf, Cooney, Gillon, Triche, Fair, Rick Jackson, Dashonte Riley, and Donte Green today. And I think they add James Southerland if they advance.

If you add in Craig forth, then I have fond memories of yelling at all those guys through my TV screen.

Boeheim's Army stages massive comeback to reach semis.

Unreal game! Southy put the team on his back. Credit to Triche and Devo for playing their guts out down the stretch. Ryan Blackwell made some nice adjustments to that zone at halftime. BA's defense was getting absolutely shredded in the first half.

I saw the last few minutes. Love how devendorf is still getting in fights!

What is the deal with this tournament? I honestly have never bothered to pay attention to it, but it was cool to see

All the alumni!

its awesome. OSU is in final four. The players remind me of when the Buckeyes used to be good at basketball. They can all still play! Love it. Edited by YoloinOhio

I can't figure out what this tournament is either. Dion Wright, Bona grad, is playing for VCU.

Some teams are alumni teams, some are comprised of players from different colleges who are all from a particular area, one team is made up of a bunch of guys who play in the NYC playground circuit (Rucker Park). For the past couple years, Boeheim's Army had one or two non-SU players. It's definitely weird.

Does Scoobie Penn have a future in coaching?

actually he was just hired at Ohio state to be Director of Played Development which is a great role for him. And will hopefully help us recruit his son Dominiq who is a stud. I think Aaron Craft definitely has a future in coaching! Edited by YoloinOhio
