When I reported I had a source with the Bills back then telling me Jackson was getting released he was telling the truth, although many accused me of being full of crap once it didn't happen. If Whaley thought it was best - I'm 100% behind it. I owe Fred Jackson nothing. I gave him my support, bought some items with his namesake on them, I appreciate his story and enjoyed how he played the game. Then he gets cut and turns on the GM of my team? He knew it would cause a problem and he didn't care because he was mad. Did he apologize for causing a problem between the fans and Whaley? At that point no one knew what the future would hold. A lot can change in the NFL in 6 months. He didn't know they would get karlos or any RB in the draft and that he would play his way to the #2 spot, or that all the RBs would get out of TC healthy. Fred should have known that he didn't lie... But rather things can change. What is true in March can look different in September after the draft, OTAs, and TC. And the responsibility of Whaley is to the team/organization. Not to make sure he can go to a closer city. That's right! Well said. Fred should not feel slighted - got a sweet contract then was injured for some of it. Next an up, best player plays, salary gets cut...the rest is whining. "No" part sounds disingenuous if Fred were told "you have permission to negotiate with other teams". But the "tell him you'll be on the team"? C'mon man. Everyone on the team knows there is competition, no one's job is safe. Things change, one player comes into training camp and wows the coaches, finds a spot on the team. Another fails to impress or gets injured, Snip goes the Turk you would just cut him without him shopping himself if the goal was to cut him It seems like in March the goal was "take a pay cut or be cut and we will let you see we are right with our evaluation by shopping yourself" or "go find a trade". There were a bunch of stories this off season that weren't true or not. Whaley going rogue to Mccoy have a hamstring tear, to god knows what else.When you have a rookie that can play just as good as Fred Jackson the choice is easy. One guy has a arrow pointing up.
